This is an excerpt from the chapter I’ve been working on for my Frumpkin & Caleb fic.

A few minutes of haggling later, Caleb returned to the inn five gold and four silver pieces richer. He had also picked up a small felt mouse that he thought Frumpkin might enjoy playing with—a gray thing, with tiny button eyes and a dingy ribbon for a tail. Caleb thought it was pretty cute, but Frumpkin looked at it with disdain when Caleb set it down on the floorboards of his room and nudged it towards him.

“Go on now,” Caleb said, pinching the mouse’s tail and wiggling it, “Attack it.”

Frumpkin delicately raised a paw to lick, gaze drifting around the room as if Caleb hadn’t spoken. Caleb sighed, picking up the mouse and tossing it at Frumpkin, where it bounced off his nose. Caleb laughed at his startled expression. “Kill it Frumpkin, it attacked you!”

Frumpkin blinked at him before turning to look at the mouse. He reluctantly swatted at it with his paw, and then glanced up again as if to say, there, are you satisfied?

The fic is My Cat Means More To Me Than You on ao3. Updates are very slow lol and the plot is nonsense.
