Like I know I’ve SAID it felt since S4 like they were setting up Buddie and then re-setting each season all over again only to have to swerve each time, but…they really were doing that huh

Buck wishes he had never heard the phrase “home is a person” cause if that’s the case, he’s been evicted more times than he can count. He’s afraid of being ‘homeless,’ of his house growing legs and walking away. Despite that, he wants— yearns— to move in to someone, to unpack his cardboard boxes and make his bed and curl up in that comfort.
He ignores the feeling when it hits him on a cool L.A. morning with Eddie. He ignores it when it hits him as he sits on a hospital bed next to Eddie. He ignores it when is hits him as Chris leaps into his arms at the station. He ignores it because if Eddie is it, he’ll inevitably leave. So, Buck ignores it. Turns a blind eye as a shelter is built up around him, as the feeling of a warm blanket surrounds him, as a family forms its foundations around him. And then, one morning, as he wakes to brew the coffee and make a batch of pancakes in a house that’s not his own (but sure as hell feels like it) his feet are swept out from under him. It’s like a tsunami; terrifying, all-consuming, destructive when it hits him.
He’s found a home in Eddie. In Christopher. And he’s not willing to sell. He wants to work on it, to paint the shutters yellow, plant peas in the garden, vacuum up the cobwebs. And it settles in his chest like a beehive. His chest fills with fear that sticks like honey until he feels Eddie’s hand on his shoulder, until Chris is holding tight to him in a hug. Then, it’s just calm. It’s...God Damn, it’s home.
Buck wishes he had never heard the phrase “home is a person” cause it’s true. Now, even though he’s waiting for the mudslide to bring it all down, there’s no one else he’d rather have beside him for the collapse.

they really put eddie, ana, chris, and buck all in the same room and explicitly contrasted buck’s comfortability within the diaz family with ana’s status as an outsider + eddie’s panic at the assumption of ana being a permanent fixture in their family like literally what goes on

this episode was the definition of “it’s like the universe is screaming at you and you refuse to listen.” there’s this man in front of you. a man that takes your child to the zoo, tells him fun facts, gives him a big hug when he visits you guys at work, knows when something is off with you, makes you smile, makes you feel comfortable, and makes you happy. there’s no reason for you to stick it out with someone you’re not in love with just because “christopher likes them.” christopher likes someone else too. someone that you like. someone that makes your life fun and light. someone you deserve and someone that will always put you and your son first— because he’s done that time and time again before. edmundo diaz, buck is your person and it’s like the universe is screaming at you and you refuse to listen.

i think it’ll happen one day where buck can’t hold back any more and he’ll just blurt out that he loves eddie right to his face and then give that wide eyed concerned stare while he waits for the response and eddie, oh eddie will stand for a moment, and then shake his head so slightly and all broken ‘buck...’ and buck will deflate because god dammit not again not another person leaving and he’ll walk away because if he doesn’t do it first, he doesn’t think he’ll survive eddie leaving. and then a few days pass and everyone is like what the fuck is going on between you too, you’re both being so cold and not talking and christopher probably has a heart to heart with eddie and impart some very obvious very emotional wisdom that no kid should have to be telling their dad and it’ll just... click. and eddie will show up at buck’s doorstep and just ‘i love you too, buck, of course i love you’ and then they’ll make out and it’ll be awesome :)
