i just. the tendency to flatten eddie and lump shannon in with ana and marisol is so crazy to me given that (1) his relationship with shannon (and his GRIEF over her) directly informed his relationship with ana and continues to color his relationship with marisol and (2) he and shannon have a history that's beyond complicated.

like. he was hesitant about falling into things with shannon because she left him and THEIR VERY YOUNG CHILD in the middle of the night and then DIDN'T COME BACK, and because he felt like he completely failed her AND chris by GOING TO WAR (his deepest trauma) to "provide" for them. he lost his mind over ana because he was still grieving shannon and the family he could never have with her and he was trying to pretend like he wasn't, because he thought being with ana was him doing right by chris and by his own expectations of what relationships/families are supposed to be like.

like, yes, it absolutely says something that despite his grief and pain he's been able to build something with buck and be completely vulnerable with him. the way he loves buck is special because of how deeply he loved shannon, how hard he tried to love ana, and also how he's trying (and imo failing, but trying all the same) to grow into something with marisol. it's special because of all the internal turmoil and healing eddie's gone through outside of buck.

it's not special because all of his relationships and feelings and experiences that have nothing to do with buck have just been superficial and unimportant and any issues can just be traced back to his repressed sexuality or whatever. just weird to reduce eddie into just A Guy Who Loves Buck when buddie is so much better when you see the whole picture of both of them.

They could have made more money and they chose not to. It was EASY merch. A direct reference to an explicitly romantic and reciprocated line. Instead...

They've never had THIS explicit of a merch opportunity before that they just overtly passed up. Usually you market lines and stuff but with an OBJECT? You ALWAYS sell that shit. They clearly know that (see: image). They had an object. A SHIRT, even. We were past knowing it was purposeful but now we are even further BEYOND knowing they had an easy, brainless idea for merch that they just didn't do.
