I am watching how one particular climate change denialists over 6 years slowly shifted from "climate change doesn't happen" to "yes it does happen but it's natural" to "okay, humans did it, but hey, more carbon means much better environment for plants, including crops, so it's good actually" and it's so funny.
(He is a history blogger, that's why I watch him. It's not like all he does is denying global warming, he simply brings it up when he thinks that it's relevant. Also to a degree explains willingness to at least somehow change)
the "climate naturally changes" argument is funny because yes, it does naturally change over time!
however that natural change has been unnaturally exacerbated.
the only reason why ten year old girls are destroying stupidly overpriced products at sephora to make “skincare smoothies” is because they aren’t being given access to a yard with a variety of mud, sticks, rocks, puddles, and old ceramic planters to make potions in. the children yearn for the apothecary
Every time I'm busy all the theaters are playing those made up artsy movies that insecure people talk about to make fun of "film snobs" that just end up sounding really cool and whenever I'm free it's all shit like a Winnie the Pooh Slasher Movie and a Goonies reboot
There is some pretty shocking footage out there of the Baltimore bridge collapse early this morning. I've already seen some incredibly wrong, incredibly insensitive Hot Takes about how shitty the bridge was to have fallen after being bonked by a boat, etc
Please don't be that person.
The facts will come out. Speculation is silly. In addition to loss of life, the Francis Scott Key bridge was a major arterial in that region's highway system. Its loss will be felt for years, and not just to daily commuters.
Baltimore harbor is closed. No shipping at all. This will impact supply chains in ways we cannot even assess yet.
