So true-so true! I have said and will continue to say that Steve received much more character development in one game than Leon did in all his games and films combined (fight me cuz that's a fact), likable or not. And by the way, regarding their appearance, initially Steve had a completely different hairstyle, and according to rumors, in order to “not run into” Dicaprio’s lawyers, Capcom had to redo his hairstyle in the extended version of the game for PS2.

And so, unfortunately, there are too many people who are blind enough to see characters wrong, otherwise they wouldn’t be saying this nonsense about removing Steve in upcoming remake (and let’s not forget that, in fact, without Steve’s participation in RE Code Veronica, first of all, Claire could have become a completely different character, secondly, the events of “Operation Javier” and RE6 would not exist).

I just really hope and even pray for that Capcom will handle the remake close enough to original, because still RECV contained so much psychological aspects of the story and characters' development so loooots of people did not see them. And I'm really kinda worried, with all the kudos for remakes (except RE3), Capcom made characters way too bad-asses, and I'm afraid that Claire in this CV remake will be a badass too, and she can't be like that in CV events, not in the second half of it at least. Steve’s fate broke her mentally, made her actually froze in terror when she saw Alexia, and then she chose the way of protector (joining "Terra Save" to help the biohazard's victims, not searching for fight with B.O.W.s and other bio-threats), while all the rest of protagonist main cast chose the way of fighters (Leon, Chris, Jill and etc. joined the forces that fought the bio-threats back intentionally). The fact that Claire broke down because of what happened to Steve makes her a truly human, living character, which, unfortunately, cannot be said about other protagonists. And modern Capcom still has a good chance of screwing up this chapter in Claire's story and character development.

honest, I'm a tired of people saying "Steve so much like Leon!".

I mean, no.

maybe they really have a somewhat similar exterior design (hairstyle with bangs, + Leon in RE2 original seems more red than blond), but all the similarities end there. they have completely different stories, characters and personalities. yes, they both interact with Claire, but they have an absolutely different dynamic with her.

some seem to devalue Steve as a character, the terrible experience he went through as a prisoner on the island, or the fact that Steve literally overcame the virus in his body, just not to harm Claire, he loved her so much. but it all boils down to "look, this guy like Leon!". (he don't)

this wouldn't be a problem if I hadn't seen people who claim that would be good if the CV Remake "cut the role of Steve and added Leon" (we know that this will never happen and are grateful to Capcom for that). this teenage guy went through a terribly traumatic experience as a prisoner of the camp (which, according to Capcom's first plans, should have parallels with the end camp, they even have a gas chamber), became a victim of an experiment and curbed the virus in himself (can you imagine how strong he is?) for safety the woman he fell in love with. but in the end, some people call him "annoying" and want him erased from his own story for the sake of some ship (which doesn't even exist in the canon).

It is the ultimate form of Steven's mutation, which is the final form. Anyway, the monster can also have a happy ending, as long as the more handsome and powerful the better. sorry, but I'm not into making Claire a monster too - as for me, it is more interesting to have Claire remain a human character whilst Steve has to deal with conusming his mind and body virus. And talking about Steve, I really tried to imagine what he might look like, as they say, in the second and further phases of mutation, which could have been if he had been returned (and his potentional return in RE series was not excluded, it was pretty confirmed). I have sketches, but they are abandoned, because I could not think of what I would like to see exactly, without further design changes. I can find and re-do them, and show my rough vision of what Steve's evolved monster form might look like in the future when I'm a little freer of other irl stuff and work :D I'll do it sooner, don't get lost/stay tuned~
