Colours: RADICAL Vocab Flashcards
Thought i’d try a slightly different approach, particularly for the nouns to remember them. By breaking down individual meanings of the radicals within each character + pairing with a context driving trigger sentence. With Chinese, the radicals tell a story of how the word came to be, so perhaps looking at Chinese characters through that approach will encourage another level of    long-term memory.
**Radical meanings are in bold + the vocabulary is CAPITALISED

Garrigus, John D. Before Haiti: Race and Citizenship in French Saint-Domingue. New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2006, 397pp.
Liberté ou la mort: Placing the Haitian Revolution in the Age of Revolution and Atlantic History
In the words of the publisher: “this book details how France’s most profitable plantation colony became Haiti, Latin America’s first independent nation, through an uprising by slaves and the largest and wealthiest free population of people of African descent in the New World. Garrigus explains the origins of this free colored class, exposes the ways its members supported and challenged slavery, and examines how they shaped a new ‘American’ identity.”
Robert L. Paquette, professor of American History at Hamilton College contends that “in 1791, the western third of the island of Hispaniola stood as the crown jewel of France’s empire and the world’s most valuable slave-based colony. It also possessed the most prosperous class of free-coloured slaveholders in the history of the Americas. John Garrigus zeroes in on members of this ambivalent class, particulary those from St. Domingue’s South Province who exerted disproportionate influence in challenging the metropolis to apply the high ideals of the French Revolution to end racial discrimination in France’s overseas possessions. With this important book, Garrigus has illuminated the complex process that transformed slave revolt into social revolution, subjects into citizens, and colony into nation.”

America has literally created a system where living around black people makes the value of ur house go down.
I want you guys to really understand how much America has fucked shit up for black people. I feel like we’re obligated to burn this shit down.

How I Bullet Journal
Tumblr media
My assignment planning:
So this one is honestly a bit complicated when you look at it and hopefully I can explain it well but it’s pretty simple at the core. First, obviously, I draw out a simple calendar with only horizontal lines and a to-do list on the side. Then I wrote out any quizzes, tests, no-school days, or generally important, in-class things on the very bottom of whatever box they’re in with no highlight. As you can see I have reading quizzes on the 4th, 12th, 14th, 18th, and 20th. When I put my assignments, I do something a little different. I simply highlight from when the assignment was given to me until whenever it’s due. At the beginning of the highlight I write the class and at the end I write the assignment. Some things are just next day work like the two math highlights, one from 12-13 and one from 14-15. When I’m going from one side of the page to the other with an assignment, I just keep the highlight on the same line so I know what it is. You can see this with my English work from the 13th-14th and my psychology work from the 4th-8th. I do essentially the same thing when the assignment is going from one week to another, I just maintain the same line and for this, I add an arrow on each side just to maintain clarity. Four things that are going to the next month I write the assignment name as usual and do a downwards arrow saying what day in the next month it’s due as you can see in the image. For the to-do list it’s less strict. I just write out general, school related activities and things I need to do that aren’t attached to a certain day.
