one of my favourite clone war.s moments is the interaction anakin and obi-wan have during the second battle of geonosis about the worm and if it is going to go up luminara’s nose or ear, but nothing will ever beat the line afterwards where anakin squishes the worm under his boot and it just: obi-wan: “what are you doing?! i was going to study that!!” anakin: “study the bottom of my boot!!!”

❝ GENERAL  SKYWALKER …  MAY  I ? ❞  silently  Captain  had  watched  the  Jedi  talk  about  the  plan ,  the  mission ,  THE  TASK  AT  HAND .  Silently …  until  he  could  not  hold  it  back  any  longer .  They  worked  together  for  a  few  weeks  by  now .  He  did  not  KNOW  the  Jedi  all  too  well  &  from  what  he  heard ,  he  could  speak  of  luck  if  THIS  JEDI  would  let  him  speak  his  mind  freely .  ❝ I  don’t  think  that  this  plan  will  work  out ,  sir . ❞  Captain  tried  to  keep  his  voice  steady ,  CONFIDENT .  ❝ if  we  do  it  like  that ,  we might  lose  more  men  than  we  can  afford . ❞    

𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦 ; 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧,  upon their jedi general. in-front of him, was a holographic map. of the very separatist facility they were moments away from infiltrating. and the general was doing another run over of the plan put in motion, one that would see the base taken over by republic forces and the droid facility, wiped from this planet’s map. a hard hit for the separatists forces, one that would see them retreating back to the shadows for some amount of time. he was mid-way through discussing the initial run towards the base, when his second-in-command ; a man whom he had only worked a few weeks with, let his voice be heard over his own.

❛ captain? ❜  he spoke his title, with an arch of his eyebrow . . .  turning slightly so that he could look over his shoulder. anakin was almost certain, if this was any other jedi general — bar from a certain few. they would not allow for a clone trooper to speak so out of turn, and would be quick to silence them and continue. but anakin, just simply nodded his head and took a sidestep away from the holographic table, gesturing for the captain to step forward.  ❛ alright . . . if you think so. show me then, how you’d have us cross the bridge to the facility? i’m all ears. ❜  he was not being malice or cruel, he was generally interested in what the captain had to say ; for his opinion to be heard. perhaps he had seen something, that the general had missed . . .

❛ 𝐢 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐞, 𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐬. ❜   his smile was transforming into that of a sly smirk. he found great comfort and solace from being in her company, from just having her sit across the table form him. with her permission, he leaned forward to grab hold of the pitcher and poured himself another drink, almost to the rim of the glass. pitcher was placed back in the centre of the table and his fingers again came to round the stem of the glass, so that he could begin to sip on it’s contents once more.  ❛ it’s just fact. ❜  he spoke, with a gentle chuckle. 

but it was her question that caught him off guard, his eyes grew wide and artificial fingers came to tighten their hold of the glass. underneath metal fingertips, could he feel the glass begin to crack. a hairline fracture and with anymore pressure, the glass would surely break — so he lowers it, returning it to the surface and pushes it aside. he clears his throat, trying to cover his reaction with a forced laugh.  ❛ a-alone? uh, yeah i am. why? . . . don’t tell me it’s because you wanted to see obi-wan. he’s no fun. ❜  nice cover-up, he thought to himself. change the subject to obi-wan, not linger and believe that she meant what his first thought was . . . his wife, back home on coruscant, half a galaxy away.  ❛ if obi-wan was here, he’d surely be giving us a lecture on how we are using the incorrect glasses or — something stupid like that.  ❜

he pushed himself off rex, giving him a pat on the arm to thank him for the help. then taking the steps needed ; no matter how much his legs ached. to meet aayla half way and gather her into his arms. he held onto her, with all his might. arms around her back ; hands on each of her arms, fingers digging in. his face is digging into her shoulder, lowering so much so just to reach and he lets out a breathe, one filled with such relief. he holds the hug, longer than he normally would. before pulling back and giving her a soft smile, so bright in comparison to the dirt and darkened blood on his face.  ❛ awh . . . don’t say you missed me, huh? that isn’t like you, aayla. ❜  he was quick to tease, jestering like he hadn’t been missing for days on end.
