you’re telling me Martin didn’t get to commit ANY violent murders… I’m more or less against violent murder but he really wanted to and I think he deserves it as a treat…

Its #BatAppreciationDay so please appreciate this awesome 19th century Japanese kosode decorated with embroidered lucky bats, photographed in 2019 at The Life of Animals in Japanese Art exhibition at the National Gallery of Art in DC:
Kosode with Bats
Japan, Edo - Meiji periods, 19th century
silk twill, paste-resist dyed, embroidery, 67⅜ × 48⅞ in.
National Museum of Japanese History, Chiba Prefecture
“In the West, bats - nocturnal in habit and denizens of dark places tend to be viewed as unlucky, but in China they have long been considered an auspicious motif (one of the characters used to write the word "bat" is a homonym for good fortune). The Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjüro VII (1791-1859) used bat motifs in his costumes, and the perception of these animals as a chic design element spread rapidly throughout Japan in the nineteenth century. Here a great number of them are arranged in right-left symmetry from the base of the collar to the hem.”
The above info is from the official exhibition catalog - this bat kosode is on p. 124:

Currently relistening to tma so i can get into tmp properly and I was just wondering if you got any inspiration for the spiral from Junji Ito's Uzumaki. I read it a few days ago and couldn't help but see a few similarities. It could just be because it's got a lot of spirals and all but the mind bending way the spiral would effect the town Kurouzu-cho seemed similar, especially when I listened to the episode about the Gabriel the clay worker and the man on the stair. I love your work btw it's great :3 currently reading through the thirteen storeys and I'm getting the family business soon too yay
Junji who? Never heard of him mate.

Has anyone else been getting ads for some stupid fucking “game” that is just real (or close enough I can’t tell the difference) footage of coyotes/foxes/other canids getting shot? I’ve reported it twice already, it’s such an upsetting thing to get hit with when scrolling my dash.
