All parts of the campaign against Armie is being driven the same way, he participated in some shamming, and the smearing in part or in whole is being co-ordinated, and the individuals are taking tips from each other. In other words he is being stitched up.
Honestly, props to Luca for this moment!! The lighting, the contrast, the setting, everything! There’s so much skin in this scene, I’m a sucker for this much exposed skin tbh. Same goes for the “I don’t want you to go” scene, if i wasn’t watching the whole scene in the attic, I’d say they were naked. Which is something to think about: skin, nudity, the rawness, the exposed bodies, you can just feel the sexual tension and that vibe can turn a person on so much.
But here, in this particular picture, even though Oliver is cropped and we don’t know the look on his face, Elio is looking up and so mesmerized by him, he took this moment to grab his hand with the same hand he was touching himself barely 10 seconds prior. The way they’re holding hands were, OMG, the position is perfect for Elio to just pull Oliver towards him and start doing it right there and then. He’s literally begging to be taken and taken hard, just look at those eyes, that skin, his voice is so beautiful in this scene…idk how Oliver managed to resist, damn. This is actually one of my favorite scenes in the book, page 24, when he’s asking him to stay and take off his bathing suit, to let that hand travel where it wants to go, and also that he’d let him put as many fingers as he’d want inside of him, and if he won’t do that, then he’d do it for him.
Tim/ Elio looks so perfect here, he’s beautiful, he’s young, he’s curious, he’s not actually repulsive of himself as much as some sexually confused teenagers would feel, they’d try to shake it off and deny it, but no, Elio wants him, he doesn’t want to be confused, he wants Oliver so badly, he wants to scratch the itch Oliver has provided him with ever since they shook hands in the study room (or when he saw his picture on the application form).
And Armie’s/ Oliver’s posture here…I’m dying! The hands, the arms, the fingers, those fucking thighs, knees, his stomach, the way he’s holding Tim’s hand…This man is the reason why i watched CMBYN in the first place. I’ve been a fan of Armie’s for years now, and I always got some gay vibes from him, and when i saw that he was starring in an LGBTQ movie, i was like “Yass, finally, something where he’ll shine!!” And he did. He fucking shined the crap out it!!
A summary: this scene is perfection, the movie is a master piece, both Armie and Tim are breathtakingly beautiful here, and i wanna die from this many wonders at one place.✨
I want to talk about something in more depth that this new Daily Fail article brought up. I’m going to talk about in this post like I believe what Paige said was true, I don’t. But I’m trying to demonstrate another way they are hurting real abuse victims with this bullshit.
I want to talk about difference between abuse and self-inflicted trauma because of someone having low self-esteem and/or agenda in wanting to stay in a relationship with the person. I want to talk about personal responsibility in any relationships but romantic in particular.
The things Paige describes in her article are not abuse. At worst they are trauma she caused herself by not researching or speaking up when he suggested something. When someone you are dating says they are into BDSM and these particular kinks if you aren’t educated on the subject, it’s your own responsibility to get educated. If a person suggests doing something sexual with you and you find the idea unappealing, it’s not abusive of them to proceed to engage in that act with you if you said yes. They are not a mind reader and them having a particular kink or even leaving bruises, bite marks and other marks, is not abusive if you consented to the acts and the marks.
Paige describes many things but she never says that she said no or indicated in any way that she doesn’t like something they are doing or they did or he did. He is not a mind reader. Paige feeling uncomfortable or scared is not something he can know unless she speaks up. She never says this but implication of some things she said are that she didn’t want him to break up with her because she didn’t like his sexual proclivities. I’m sorry but if she said she’s not into his kinks and he broke up with her, that’s not an abusive action. That’s actually healthy and right thing to do. In fact the way she describes the fact that he respected when she didn’t want to have sex in Dallas or when she wanted to break up without any issues is respectful and right.
If you are able both physically and mentally to say no but you don’t, that’s not on the person engaging in the act with you but on you. Take personal responsibility for your body and your mind and your actions and your trauma, don’t yell abuse when it’s not. You are devaluing actual abuse when you refuse to take responsibility for your own consent.
There is such thing as situational consent(when the circumstance makes it obvious that consent is not given) but it doesn’t apply here because she literally said he told her he’s into this before anything and that he discussed scenes and roleplaying with her. That means he gave her opportunity to say no to things and she didn’t say no to them.
Ending disclaimer again: I don’t believe anything she said is true but I’m just saying that even if it was true, she’s still hurting actual abuse victims by claiming he was abusive while describing her failure to take away her own consent.
