One of the funniest things I ever experienced was when I went to go see John Mulaney live, and halfway through a bit about how expensive college in the States is, he looked down at the sleeve of his suit jacket and just. stopped. dead halt, mid sentence.

And after like three seconds, where we’re all trying to figure out the punchline because the story clearly hadn’t ended, and John Mulaney quietly says, “Has there been tinfoil on my buttons the whole goddamn show?”

He’d taken his suit to the drycleaner, and they’d wrapped the buttons on the sleeves and the coat with tinfoil to protect them, and John Mulaney didn’t notice until half-way through his set, and was SO FLABBERGASTED that he never did finish the story about college and instead did five minutes on how stupid it was that his buttons were reflecting the light and he just didn’t notice, and in that moment I understood more about John Mulaney as a person than I ever have.

I’m Leaving My Heart With You

Description: Harry receives a brief break from tour to visit home. Once arriving at his apartment, he finds a sleeping Y/N and reminisces on their relationship together.

The maximum number of days that they could grant him was three. Had this been during the days of touring with his band mates, he would have chuckled at the idea of returning home for three days and contently reject the offer. Instead of traveling home, he would take advantage of the inconceivable opportunities that his career provided. His three days would consist of exploring unfamiliar cities, experiencing diverse cultures, and meeting magnificent people. When these three days would reach its conclusion, he would return to the demanding life of an international star.

However, all of this felt like an entire lifetime ago. He knew that this could no longer be an accurate representation of himself, for never in a million years would he now refuse the opportunity to return home. After all, home is the place he would leave his heart each time that he had to return to touring, for he always left his heart with her.

As he approached the front door of his luxurious London flat, the butterflies swarming in his stomach became undeniable. With sweat trickling down the back of his neck and the acceleration of his heartbeat, an amused smile fell across his face, for he knew all of this meant that he was about to see her.

Unlocking the front door and gently pushing it open, he stepped into the porch of the brightly lit flat. Kicking off his shoes in anticipation, he had to stop himself from sprinting to find her. However, upon entering into the spotless kitchen, he was startled by the decorations hung throughout the apartment. With countless balloons taped to all the walls, confetti sprinkled along the kitchen counters, and a larger banner that said, “Welcome Home,” he pushed his hand through his head of curls and snickered at his girlfriend’s cuteness. 

Expecting her to jump out and surprise him with her typical bubbly personality and radiant smile, he was disappointed when she did not make an appearance. With furrowed eyebrows out of pure confusion, he began to pace throughout the house in attempt to pinpoint his girlfriend.

It was in his modern living room that he was finally able to locate her. As soon as his eyes fell upon her, everything just felt right. All of his stresses completely vanished, his body regained control over the lack of sleep, and he finally felt at home once again.
