Light what are your thoughts on L as a person?
"Hello 'lizard-spams-your-dash-too'.
I suppose we can get right into it. Right now, I am only able to view L as an opponent, nothing else. It would be much too risky to get attached at this point in my plan. But I have to admit, he's very intelligent and probably the only person who can and has matched my wits. In the end, getting attached would only be a hindrance, not only for me but for him as well. I've said this before and I will say it again, I can't develop feelings, that's how people screw up. And I can't afford to screw up right now. Not with how far I've made it.
But maybe, if things had started out differently, we could be working side by side. Without having to worry about being at each other's throats.
...I've already said too much.

L how many people do you think have been killed because of you, directly or indirectly?
"Hello there, 'lizard-spams-your-dash-too'. Quite a mouthful of a username you have there.
Unfortunately, the Kira investigation has caused many people to be harmed and killed as a result of my own actions. I've sadly lost a good number of FBI agents, some of whom I trusted very much.
As for the amount of people who have been killed directly or indirectly because of me throughout my entire career, I have no exact number for you. However, I will say this. Sometimes my job requires me to resort to doing things that are not exactly within the law, and those things do sometimes end up indirectly or directly killing people. I have accepted the fact that I cannot save everyone, and sometimes some sacrifices must be made to get the job done. But I do still try my best to get things done without hurting a great amount of people in the process.

For L: Do you think human life can be measured? And if it can, should it be measured?
P.S: thanks for your answer from the other ask, reading that was fun
"Hello aliurh,
This is much different than the last ask you sent in (not that it was a bad ask). And it was not a problem answering it, it was quite amusing on my end as well. Anyways, on to my answer.
From a physical standpoint, all of our days are numbered. We're all going to die eventually, so life can be measured in that way. But I'm sure that is not what you meant. If we're speaking about measuring the significance of a human's life, I suppose that from an objective point of view, it can be. As for 'should it be measured' it depends on the individual. I personally don't care about measuring whether or not my, or any other person's life, is significant. But if someone so chooses to measure one's life, that would be their choice.

For both L & Light: You both seem smart enough to grasp how your competitiveness could implicate you... do you ever stop to think why you're so keen to best each other? Not worried by the time one of you declares yourself the "winner," you'll not only be out your best competitor, but you won't even get to share the success with them in any meaningful way? Seems a little win-lose. Focusing more on celebrating each other's wins WITH each other could be beneficial long-term.. think on it. :)
"Greetings paganfingerpaint,
You offer up a good point, I suppose. It's not every day that I have someone who is at par with my intellect, so when I met Light I finally felt truly challenged, for once. I had finally met someone who genuinely intrigued and excited me. That's probably why I am, as you say, 'so keen to best him'. In a way, I just can't stop myself. It's in my nature. We are both competitive people and I bet even if we were to be in a different situation, we'd still find a way to one-up each other.
I'll take into consideration what you said about celebrating our wins with each other. In the meantime, any suggestions as to how we can do that? Especially considering our current situation.
-L"
“Hello there paganfingerpaint,
I won’t deny that my competitiveness could affect me in various ways. If I were to take a step back and reflect as to why L and I are so eager to best each other, I would have to say that it is because we see ourselves in each other. What I mean by that is we’re both fully aware of the fact that we’re extremely competitive, and will almost always resort to whatever methods it takes to win. We’re both aware of how we’re each other’s best adversaries.
As for the second part of your ask, I’m not sure why I would want to share my successes with him given our current situation, but I suppose I’ll give it a chance. Although I’m not exactly sure how I would even go about sharing my successes with him in the first place.

For L: I'm bored. Do you think letting someone win at chess is sapiosexual bottoming? Or is it service top?
"Greetings, aliurh. That's certainly an interesting question you have there.
I suppose I'll humour you. After giving it some thought, I have come to the conclusion that it depends on your intention when the game starts. For example, if your intention was to lose from the start in my opinion that would be considered sapiosexual bottoming. I say this because you are essentially submitting yourself to the other player from the beginning.
On the other hand, if you started the game with the intention to win, but decide at any point after the game has begun to let the other player win, then that would be service top.
I hope this makes sense and was able to cure your boredom. It certainly cured mine...

For Light:
Wow, that's some arrogance. But anyway, if we were to divorce justice from punishment, what do you think that would look like? I wonder if healing, safety, fairness and compassion are more useful goals than justice. You're smart, I think you'd have noticed by now that specific crimes are underreported due to social stigmas and if they are reported, most of the time the criminal is not prosecuted because of lack of evidence. What do you plan to do about this? You are not omniscient and killing all suspect would not be fair. What are your plans on supporting the recovery and healing of the victim?
Also, about your plans for the future, how do you guarantee that they won't become corrupt?
For Light: I forgot to add this to the other ask but wouldn't it be way easier for a justice system reform if you are the President? Why stop at police?
"Hello again, aliurh. A person of many questions I see.
Alright then, let's separate the ideas of 'justice' and 'punishment' from each other. Healing, safety, fairness, and compassion are certainly all very important concepts, if not as important as the concept of justice. I strive to achieve all of these. I may not be able to do it all at once, but I most definitely want the new world I am creating to have all of these things.
As for your second question, I obviously intend to pass judgement on those that the police are not able to, or refuse to get a hold of. Through my own research and means, I will think carefully about the crimes these people have committed and will consider whether or not they deserve to be punished by the hand of Kira. Also, I am fully aware of the fact that I am not omniscient and I never said I would kill all suspects.
In terms of supporting the victims who have suffered, I intend to make things such as therapy and other medical needs more accessible and cheaper. That is, if I am able to get my way and win this battle against L.
In response to your question about corruption, I obviously cannot fully guarantee it will not happen. But that is why I will take the utmost care in selecting the person and/or people who will be in charge of leading the world as 'Kira'.
Finally, to answer your last question, I do agree that it could possibly be easier to reform the justice system by becoming a world leader, but I honestly have no intention to do so. I am simply fine with staying in the police force while acting as a god behind the shadows. My goal is not to reform the justice system as the president, but rather to change people's hearts and mindsets by getting rid of people the world does not need.

for L: honestly, i don’t have any advice to give (im a lil stupid- /j), but i do hope you take care of yourself. stay hydrated and remember to take a breather every now and then ✨✨
(you guys too, mods!! <33)
"Hello there, taiyakiithoughts. Interesting username you have there.
Thank you for your kind words. I will admit I don't take the best care of myself and I tend to neglect my own mental and physical health if it means a case can be solved at a much faster rate. So I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to remind me to take a step back, have something to drink, and relax.
-L"
OOC-
Thank you so much for the self-care reminder! We really appreciate it and it’s very welcome especially considering how all over the place life has been and such! Don’t forget to take care of yourself as well! ^^ -Mod Micah
Hi there!! That little reminder was certainly appreciated, thank you so much!! Despite these being such simple things, it’s really easy to forget to do basic things such as take a breather and drink some water. So as L said before, I also really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to send in this ask :)) - Mod Isa

For Light:
What good is the concept of justice when most people use the word as functionally synonymous with "vengeance"?
"Wow, two questions in one sitting I see? No matter, I'll humour you, aliurh.
You yourself mention that most people are using the word as they would the word 'vengeance'. That does not mean that the true meaning of 'justice' has changed. It has merely been tarnished and twisted in the time it has been used. As time has progressed, the meaning has seemingly changed and it can be hard for the ordinary person to pinpoint the actual meaning.
But, I know the true meaning of 'justice' and that is what I am acting upon. It does not matter to me what the concept of justice may be to society because I know what the correct meaning of it is.

For Light: what are your plans with the whole kira thing after you die, or after the dead note run out of space?
"Hello again aliurh,
I'll answer the second part of your question first. The death note technically cannot run out of space. What I mean by that is as long as I am able to contact the shinigami who gave me the note, I am always free to ask for a new one once the old one runs out of pages.
As for the first part of your question, I'm honestly not 100% sure as to what my plans are going to be once I pass. I have a few options such as finding a trusted individual to carry on my legacy or even a whole organization that can effectively pass judgement as Kira. Either way, I intend to stay alive for as long as possible in the new world I am aiming to create. What good is all of this effort if I'm not even alive to witness the end result?

For L: don't you think the world will become boring again, if you eliminate Light?
"Hello, julysalad.
You certainly have a point in saying the world will become boring if I eliminate Light. Things had always been dull before he came into my life, all the cases that I had been assigned were relatively easy to solve except for one in particular. Life was just the same routine over and over again, solving cases and then receiving new ones to solve that were not very exciting.
Once he came into my life, it began anew. The monotonous cycle of my previous life was over. I finally had something to be excited about, someone to be excited about. I finally had a case that was actually worth my time as well as a person that was actually worth my time.
It'd be a shame for all this to be over, after all, it feels as though it has only just begun. But, for the betterment of society, for the world, it must be done. Some sacrifices just need to be made, and that includes someone I might actually care about for once.

For Light: would you be able to kill Souichiro/Sayu/Sachiko?
If so, who would be the toughest to kill for you emotionally or who would you regret killing most?
"Hello again, julysalad.
This certainly is a difficult question to answer. It's quite the moral dilemma. I most definitely would not want to, but if there's ever a situation that arises in which I must kill my family, then I might just go through with it. Throughout this whole ordeal, I've learned that some sacrifices simply need to be made. That includes killing people who I care deeply about, and have grown close to.
As for your second question, I hold each of these people very close to my heart, so they would all be very difficult for me to kill. But, for the sake of the question, I would have to say that my sister would be the hardest for me to kill. I've grown up my whole life taking care of her and it would pain me to have to kill her in order to create my new world instead of watching her live and grow up in it.

So L, tell me about your childhood.
"I don't know why I would tell someone called 'a-lizard-in-your-room' about my childhood, or anyone for that matter.
I suppose I shall indulge you just a little bit. It certainly was not pleasant, I was forced to grow up much faster than anyone else my age should have been. But I will leave it at that for now.

For Light:
So let me get this straight, the first time you wrote down a name in that little black notebook of yours, you panicked. You panicked because you think you're doomed to whatever version of "hell" you believe in. So you kill more people because you can and you're doomed now anyway. Being almost relieved when a divine like being come to punish you, but then informed by said divine being "nah you're fine". Basically, you realized the universe doesn't have a moral structure, and that unnerved you. You cannot stand the fact that the universe doesn't have a moral structure, so you're trying to create one.
"Hello aliurh,
If I were to be completely honest with you, I would have to say that you are correct. When I wrote that first name in the notebook, I was terrified to say the least. I lost weeks worth of sleep and I couldn't even bring myself to eat because of it sometimes. The idea of how I killed a man consumed me. But I quickly realized that I had to get over these feelings and sacrifice my own sanity for the sake of a better world.
As for the universe's moral structure or rather lack thereof, yes it certainly did unnerve me. We live in a universe where there is no set system. The bad can get away with doing horrible things, while the good have to stay behind and suffer silently. We're raised our whole lives being taught what is considered good and bad, and yet there are people out there who still decide to ignore those teachings. There are still people out there who are selfish enough to do bad in the name of themselves or for things that they want. For instance, someone kidnaps a person they are obsessed with for their own selfish and perverse wants and desires. So yes, I am trying to create a moral structure or set system for the universe because I don't want to continue living in such an unjust world.
And that 'divine' being you're referring to has already told me that I cannot go to hell. I moved on from that fact quite easily given, I never really cared about going to heaven or hell in the first place.

Alright this one’s for L:
So you are sure strongly suspect that Light is Kira. You’re going to prove it and send him to execution. That much is clear, you do you.
But on top of finding a proof, isn’t it also curious to understand how he started all this? He’s a bright overachiever with strong morals and good prospects. Vain, yes, but ultimately not without reasons. While that’s exactly someone who can become Kira, that’s also someone who’d never attempt a murder in the first place. Even if he somehow obtained supernatural powers, this just doesn’t add up. So what happened there, with his very first steps, before going full Kira?.. What a mystery. He might be a conundrum worth your time, just saying
"Hello there, mercredix.
I appreciate your input and you certainly have a good point. I'd be lying if I said Light Yagami did not intrigue me as a person. I am sure there is a myriad of reasons as to why Light would become Kira. Of course, I have not proven that as a fact yet but I already have a few ideas as to how Light may have become Kira in the first place.
First of all, I am sure we are all already aware of how strong Light's sense of justice is, especially considering how his father must have influenced his view on life, being the chief of the NPA. As for the other reasons, I can not release them to the public yet.
He is most definitely a 'conundrum worth my time' as you have said. That is the reason I am investigating him and going to such great lengths, after all. Needless to say, I would not have done the things that I have if I was not sure that Light could be Kira, is Kira.
I feel that this answer should suffice, for now.

For Light: maybe go to talk therapy instead of murder? 🤔
“Hello julysalad, thank you for your suggestion, but I unfortunately don’t have much time to just go out and get talk therapy right now. Between college, helping out with the investigation, and spending what little time I have left to write names, I just don’t have the time to get talk therapy right now.
I suppose that’s why I’ve resorted to answering questions and taking advice from random strangers on the internet….
Anyways, as for the whole murder thing, I’m completely aware that murder is a crime, but it’s what needs to be done to fix and cleanse the world. If I don’t do this, then who will?
‘Thank you’ for your words,
Light Yagami”

Well my guys, gals, and non-binary pals, the asks are now open so send in your advice, questions, and thoughts to L and Light! Remember, your goal is to get them together, or at least get them on much better terms than they ended off on in canon. Think of this as their “second chance”, but they need your help to move things in a different direction than canon.
In short, your role is to give them advice or “therapy” to help them work past whatever problems you think they have, and to help improve their relationship.
The ask box is always open and good luck!!
