Sam is the sound of the birds chirping and the deer looking for the right place to curl up as the sun starts rising in the sky. Jack is the sunlight that shines directly in the windows during midday, making patches of extra warm spots as the room's temperature rises & almost lulls you into a nap. Dean is the bright blurs of the street lamps you watch with your head leaning against the glass car window as you travel down an empty stretch of road & a light patter of rain falls on the world around you.

AU where spn is the same except it’s an open secret that dean is bisexual and frequently hooks up with men. like it’s something everyone knows but We Do Not Talk About. 

john ignores it altogether. sam sometimes tries to bring it up after stanford and have like a Moment with dean about it but dean is not having it. sometimes on cases they bump into other hunters dean has hooked up with or really wants to hook up with and there’s that same kind of flirting dean does with other men in canon except now there’s also the occasional sex scene. 

then after cas is introduced in season 4 and sam meets him for the first time and sees the way his brother looks at him, he flat out tells dean,

“don’t fuck the angel.”

“i’m not gonna fuck the angel,” dean says, outraged, because he’s comfortably bi but cas is still this unknown entity who scares and fascinates him in equal measures.

then, a few episodes later, once they’re a bit closer and dean is seeing cas as like an actual person, he goes up to sam and says,

“heads up, i’m probably gonna fuck the angel.”

okay but it’s so funny because they literally gave dean two boyfriends. benny and cas are very much framed as rivals for dean’s attention and affection, the push and pull of their conflict LITERALLY centers around him they literally argue with dean placed in the middle of them in the frame. their point of camaraderie comes from silent agreement of working to keep dean safe and get out of purgatory, we watch the expression on dean’s face as benny saves cas. cas shows an animosity for benny at the beginning that we’ve never seen quite like this before. sure you could argue it’s because he’s a monster in purgatory, but considering cas has chosen to ally with demons before and dean has vetted benny as safe, I really doubt it. it’s literally because he’s jealous. they gave dean a purgatory boyfriend and had cas become textually jealous. gee dean how come you get to have two supernatural boyfriends
