i watched the theatrical version of two towers for the first time in a loooong while and yes yes extended is always the best for us nerds but it's also really nice to remind myself of how tightly and cohesively edited two towers theatrical release is - and in fact I like certain parts and pacing of the theatrical more! It's funny because I prefer fellowship's extended edition BY FAR over the theatrical (it's so rushed in the theatrical), but I think two towers still works really well without the extra scenes.
If I could only pick a few things to add back on, the only thing I think the theatrical made a glaring mistake in terms of plotholes was deleting Brego's stable scene—I totally forgot that the theatrical version essentially has a random horse ex machina come out of nowhere to save Aragorn lmfao. And then of course most of the cut Faramir scenes should've been included (although I was surprised to realize that the theatrical actually cuts out most of the scenes where Faramir and his men are rough with Gollum! So while you get less info about Faramir, I like that he's less rough with Gollum because it does feel more in-character with his book version.)
And I would've loved to have Theodred's funeral included, but that's just because the funeral song is a personal fave of mine <3
I'd like to watch ROTK's theatrical cut again sometime as well—my memory of it is that it's similar to TT in that the best version is probably a mixture of the theatrical and extended. Off the top of my head, I would've taken out the extended Army of the Dead scenes.

Ed Natividad's artwork for the Jedi Temple exterior (February 28, 1997). The original design featured a single central column concept, but this evolved to the dominant column with four surrounding columns. Also pictured Natividad's concept for the Jedi Council room (February 7, 1997) gives views both to the sky and to the surrounding cityscape. - The Star Wars Archives Episodes I-III (1999-2005) by Paul Duncan

The Sword of Elendil was forged anew by Elvish smiths, and on its blade was traced a device of seven stars set between the crescent Moon and the rayed Sun, and about them was written many runes; for Aragorn son of Arathorn was going to war upon the marches of Mordor.
