And I have a soft spot for baby Megumi.
Bonus:
My other coworker likes Toji. this was for her.
I however do not, so I put the worm there too.

I scrolled through AO3 and JJK fandom seems to be missing something.
1. Gege-sensei said that Satoru is spoiled (instead of whatever dumpster fire Kamo and Zen'ins are up to with their kid so far) so probably he, as a 17-ish y.o is gonna tell his mom "mommy, I adopted a kid"
And as a Gojo-Matriach (or at least the Clan Leader's wife) , A Sorcerer Clanswomen adept in political sh*t, there's no way Satoru's mom won't see Megumi being in Gojo-clan as a boon, for Satoru himself and for her own clan.
And she would know that her 17 y.o, spoiled-ass son, won't be able to keep two kids alive, heck he couldn't even cook at that point! The servants washes their clothes! Not him!
Imagine her initially wanted to help taking care of the kids due to political means. I.e. Megumi as a Zen'in child, (and Tsumiki, sigh. Non-sorcerer but a beautiful girl, no matter, it's fine, still moldable into a yamato nadeshiko),
Suddenly her motherly instinct kicks in seeing two abandoned children and instead of being a papa, Satoru ended up having two additional siblings.
With a more mature adult taking care of them (and probably set Megumi with a child therapist for his abandonment issue) Tsumiki won't be in a coma because she would know the dangers of Jujutsu World, and Megumi would be more well adjusted with a stability on his life, not resulting to FurubeYuraYura-ing Kamikaze move everytime something goes wrong.
__
TLDR: I need "Satoru's Mom is being Megumi and Tsumiki's Mom AU" fics.

Look, I know this is one of the biggest itafushi moments (as it should be bc are you kidding me with "personal feelings" megumi) but what also gets me equally bad is how touching it is in terms Gojo and Megumi's relationship.
Because not only do you have Gojo asking Megumi (a literal 15 year old student whose opinion nobody else would've cared about) what he thinks should be done about such a life-threatening and important matter but he also trusts Megumi so much that he actually listens to him. Gojo takes Megumi seriously, not even questioning the reasons behind his words and that's so respectful of him.
As much as we all consider Gojo childish and a manchild, he fucking takes the cake as a guardian figure when it matters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now this. Megumi trusts Gojo in turn, confiding his real feelings in him and trusting him to not dismiss or take him lightly. Moreover (this makes me cry) Megumi also feels he has the right to demand something like this from Gojo and know with full confidence that Gojo will do it 😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND GOJO DOES DO IT.
ACTUAL FATHER-SON PRIVILEGES TO ASK HIS DAD TO PLEASE NOT LET THIS CUTE GUY DIE EVEN THOUGH THE LAWS OF JUJUTSU MARK HIM FOR EXECUTION. And Gojo is like, "OKAY <3 anything for my child". LIKE WHO ELSE HAS THIS DYNAMIC? You can tell that they've known each other for years, that Gojo raised Megumi –that even among all his students, Megumi means more to him because he's like his kid 😭💗
This scene served both Itafushi and Gojo-Megumi familyism, I will love it forever muahhh

Just a theory
Just...
My theory of the end of Gojo-Sukuna's fight
I kinda feel like After Gojo X Sukuna's fight, Kenjaku would absorb Sukuna and Gojo died there poetically alongside Megumi, making Yuuji and Yuuta as the last contenders to fight Overpowered kenjaku. Maybe Yuuta would land a huge blow and Yuuji finish with black flash?
Like, Maybe Kenjaku is making Sukuna and Gojo kill each other, to eat Sukuna via Getou's power. If Gojou is still alive, he might be incapacitated or killed by Kenjaku afterwards, and with Gojo no longer be there as a contender, that means one more obstacle and his (getou's) body would not retaliate if Gojo is already dead, just like Tsumiki's death affects Megumi.
Just a theory tho. If I am Gege-sensei I would keep Gojo-Fushiguro father-child alive, even Tsumiki.

about Gojo, Geto, Shoko, loneliness and love
spoilers for 220
written by my local monkey friend that i got permission to translate! don't take it as actual fact though, this is from our overall perspective from reading the latest chapter.
===========
In Shoko's memory, there's an image of Gojo with the loosed white bandages, who said "I won't let anyone be alone (独り/hitori) anymore" so you can see, the memory is around a year before the main events of jjk (~2017), and the time when vol 0 occured.
Tumblr media
Speaking of vol 0, there was a scene at the beginning when Gojo was talking to Yuuta when he received death sentence by the higher ups, he said something similar: "But being alone (一人/hitori) is very lonely?"
They (独り/一人) have they same pronounciation (hitori), but 一人 is to count the number, and 独り is the state of being lonely. For example, you are in a room with 10 people => you're not alone (一人), but you can still feel lonely (独り). Basically, you can be surrounded by many and can still feel lonely. And in chap 220, what Gojo doesn't want his students to go through anymore, is being lonely (独り). on top of that, he used もう誰も (no other (person) anymore) which means Gojo himself had to go through that state, or he witnessed someone else going through it.
Tumblr media
What Gojo wanted is "I won't let any other person be lonely anymore", not "I won't let anyone be lonely", meaning he doesn't want the PAST to reoccurred, so it's not him just being kind out of goodwill or anything. The reason for it is to make up for the past he went through.
Back to the subject individual of "being alone" state, Shoko, as one of the 2 people in Gojo's beautiful 3 years of youth, has given the right answer: "Truthfully, being in love (愛/ai) with either of you guys (オマエら/omaera) is something that will never happen even if the world falls down. But I was there (with you) too, what do you mean alone, you idiot. There's this bunch of monsters waiting for you to come back".
Gojo himself never mentions who is the individual behind that "loneliness", himself or someone else, but Shoko can immediately realize what he means. And that is because she links "being alone" with "you guys" (オマエら) (Gojo and Geto), and at the same time thinking about them during school. A Geto Suguru who felt alone with his spiral, with the insane ideals that he thinks no one could understand; and a Gojo who felt alone even though he stood among many peers and comrades because he lost the feeling of standing side by side with someone equal during his "first and last blue spring".
Next, we need to pay attention to the word "love" (愛) that Shoko uses.
Tumblr media
Shoko uses 愛 (ai) when talking about her relationship (or lack thereof) between her and her two friends. In most cases, this word means romantic love, and it is heavier than the use of like (好き/suki). She is denying to hell and back that never ever in this life that she has feelings for them ("even if the world falls down"), but she "was there" too. It means she admits that she cannot provide (romantic) love for either of them, but she is still there for them as a friend. So, it would be stupid that you can't escape the feeling of loneliness, cannot escape the past.
The above sentence is suspicious, I must say. If you wanna show that Gojo's not going to be lonely with friends and students by his side, then this whole panel and confession of NOT being in love with either of Gojo or Geto are completely unneccessary if you really think about it. And if you want to show that you understand no one can replace a "bestfriend" for Gojo like Geto, then the word "love" is also not neccessary. Not to mention she uses 愛. Yuta uses that word for Rika in the battle. Yorozu said she will give Sukuna this bc she truly loves him.
So why does Shoko use such a term in the negative tone? Why does she want Gojo to know that friendship can also erase loneliness, not just "love"? Isn't it because in Shoko's eyes, Gojo feels that he has lost his "love"? During that 3 years of youth, Gojo never felt lonely because Geto was by his side. So when Geto left, no other person could help Gojo escape that feeling of loneliness anymore. In other words, there's no reason to bring up the idea of love if it's not to underline that it is what Shoko sees in them. Hence the panel is from her POV: it is only Gojo and Geto in that panel, after all.
Shoko confirmed herself. That even though she was "still there", even though "a bunch of monsters" were there surrounding Gojo, he still can't let go of the past, he still thinks that he's "lonely" all this time. "What do you mean alone, you idiot. I was there too". Yes she was there too. Even though she was there. Gojo cannot escape loneliness because Geto has gone. That is the reason why Geto is, and still is Gojo's "bestfriend, the only one he has".
Tumblr media
In conclusion (tl/dr):
1. Gojo has not moved on
2. Gojo's current dream/ideal (not letting anyone alone, not letting anyone take away the youth of the young children) is because he wants to make up for the past
3. Shoko knows she can't provide them what they yearn for to truly feel happy when they were together (愛/love), but her and the students can give him care and support and companionship, so he shouldn't said that he's lonely
4. Gojo with Geto by his side is a Gojo who is not lonely
==========
I didn't expect to get more insight into Shoko's POV of the whole ordeal, but I'm glad we did. Shoko's denial of being in love with them isn't just there for no reason. There is no reason for her, of all people, to bring such a topic up under such circumstances: the children are going to fight to the death to save him and others. Shoko is also calling him out for thinking he's been alone, even though her and others are there for him. Which is... very sad to me. Geto is such a huge loss to Gojo, such an irreplacable existence, that when he's gone from this world, he made a huge void, and Gojo keeps gazing into that void, thinking he's lonely. He doesn't want anyone to be lonely like that, when Shoko calls his bullshit out because he has friends!!! He losed his love, and Shoko can't bring his love back, but she and the kids are there to support him in other ways too!!
I'm not saying this perspective is correct and canon, but it just makes so much sense that way for me. Gege has been playing the vague game about Gojo and Geto's relationship since v0, what with the mysterious last words, and now this mysterious love from Shoko's POV. I just love Satosugu and how Gege builds their relationship.

I noticed in both ruyi and yanxi that the harem woman have two different types of court dresses for special occasions. One is the one in black, the other is the normal court dress used in banquets. Is there a difference in the two court dresses?
There are three main types of clothes for women inthe Qing court:
court dress/chaofu 朝服, worn in very formal occasions likecoronations, major official events and ceremonies
celebratorydress/jifu 吉服, worn in less formal parties and ceremonies
everyday dress/changfu 常服

Qixie (旗鞋) - Qing dynasty shoes
Qixie is the collective name of the high-heeled shoes worn by Manchurian women during the Qing dynasty. There are many theories as to why Manchurian women began wearing this type of shoes.
Tumblr media
According to one theory, Manchurian people originally lived in the northeastern area of China where the weather was damp and cold. Women would wear high heeled shoes to keep their hems off the ground so their clothes do not get wet and make them sick. It also helps with avoiding snakes and insect bites when walking in mountain terrains.
There is also a legend that once a young lady tried to rescue her father who has been captured in an enemy camp, and was forced to cross a muddy pond. She tied wooden bases to her shoes to keep herself sinking into the mud.
There is also the explanation that Manchurian women, who didn’t bind their feet, were envious of the small feet and gracious swaying gait of Han women with bound feet, so wore high-heeled shoes to imitate the swaying walk as well as to hide their big feet under their hems.

How many layers does a qing woman or concubine usually wear? I saw in legend of zhen human that they wore their bedroom pajamas under their dress but legend of ruyi costumes implies that they actually have more layers underneath their dresses
They would be wearing at least three layers to be presentable: 1) inner clothes/nei yi/内衣, 2) middle clothes/zhong yi/中衣 and the gown on the outside would be 3) outer clothes/wai yi/外衣.

im so sick of tiktok nurses and doctors trying to mock their patients for coming in and saying their pain is at a ten but not performing the pain for them
every time ive been in the hospital near death i was simply too exhausted to perform pain for these people. it was a ten on the pain scale but they thought i was faking it for whatever reason until they got my lab tests back and realized i would need to be checked in for quite a while
like maybe you, able bodied young doctor/nurse who has never experienced chronic pain and disability cannot fathom me rolling up near death and a flat expression unable to scream and holler about my agonies but I assure you some of us are just too fucking tired to scream about something we generally live with every single day
on god wanna punch the smug off their faces.

This.
This kid was just parroting his abuser's words, until he was forced to eat those words, and facing the truth of all the lies he was fed with.
He's a bully, yes, but the type of bully that comes with a generational trauma. The type of abused kid that people usually overlooked since he didn't look abused, The kid is spoiled, etc.
The majority of his character growth wasn't seen in HP books that much, but in TCC the result shown.
It was a good redemption post-book, as he matured and slowly heals, building his own identity, and distancing himself from his parents, raising his son to be better, etc.
meta on draco malfoy and perpetuating cycles of emotional abuse
So. I ended up writing meta on parental emotional abuse and Draco Malfoy's behavior, which has gotten rather long and also deals with the psychology of reactions to childhood emotional trauma, so it's under a cut.
There's this book called Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents*, right? And the core idea is that emotional neglect, unavailability, or even just persistent disinterest are forms of abuse that psychologically scar children.
And if you're one of those kids with that kind of parent, you end up on a scale of Internalizing <----> Externalizing in terms of how you handle that abuse.
Internalizing kids/adults take on their parents' problems. They wonder if they are good enough. They grow up without firm boundaries, feel emotionally disconnected from people around them, have difficulty letting others get close, are drawn to abusers, and are people-pleasers.
Externalizing kids/adults act out. They bully, dominate conversations, manipulate others for attention, ignore the boundaries of others, create conflict, emotionally lash out, and basically mimic the actions of their abusers.
What both of these ends of the spectrum have in common (and people usually have some traits from both sides, even if one predominates) is that they are attempts by a child/adult to make up for the lack of care and attention from their parents, who are emotionally childish and see their kids as an extension of themselves, imposing their own wishes and desires on their children (if you aren't X or Y we'll disown you), squashing their children's ability to establish autonomy (can't say no, get angry, have boundaries), and being disinterested and incurious about their kid's inner lives ("did you get good marks" is different from "what did you enjoy and what did you dislike? how did you struggle? how can i help you?").
So. Draco Malfoy.
Draco has probably the most classically self-absorbed, domineering, narcissistic father he could reasonably have without it being a hopeless caricature. Draco is seen as Lucius 2.0, not his own person. Draco is Lucius's attempt at immortality in a tiny little boy who will grow up to be Lucius someday. Draco is only listened to for purposes of furthering Lucius's agenda; for being encouraged to be more like Lucius and to fulfill Lucius's ambitions. Until a kid develops their own strong sense of self, this can be fine from the kid's perspective -- it's attention. But once they have a self they recognize as separate from their parents, it is devastating to their own development.
And it really isn't fine from the perspective of other children, because kids mimic their parents' poor behavior. Draco acts like his father, even at 11. But one of the most insightful and more sane things from HP&TCC is Draco admitting he was jealous of Harry for his friendships, because narcissistic children have a hard time making close friendships that really mean something. They talk and talk and talk and never open the opportunity for others to share, which means they never let other kids in: nobody is vulnerable with them, nobody trusts them. They are echo chambers for their own insecurities. They are lonely. They are empty inside.
Draco is empty inside. Draco acts out because at school he can be his father. He assumes, subconsciously, that his father is a whole person and that he too will be a whole person by mimicking him. But he's still empty, and that emptiness makes it worse. It turns into self-disgust and self-loathing. He is not good enough for his father, and then, once his father is seen as the imperfect and shallow man he is, Draco is not good enough for himself or anything else at all.
Draco gets showered with material goods from his parents. He is given gifts out of love (sweets from his mother) but there's scant evidence he is given attention or affection that doesn't further his parents' agendas or reflect their belief that he is simply the son-shaped object in their family portrait. (Furthermore, excessive spoiling to the point of not correcting bratty behavior is also abuse.) Material goods and other physical expressions of love are not enough to make a child grow up feeling loved in an emotionally well-adjusted capacity that prepares them for loving other people.
Do his parents love him?
Yes, in their own ways. But it isn't enough to love children as a fantasy, a self-extension. That isn't about loving the child at all, in the end; it's about loving what's in the mirror, reflected in a child's face.
He acts out for attention, as if he's entitled to it, but the thing is -- he is entitled to it. He does deserve attention. He deserves good, decent, kind attention. He deserves to have at least one fucking adult in his life who isn't an emotionally vainglorious bully or an enabler. (Narcissa is an enabler for Lucius.) He deserves to have someone who is an adult care for him in a way that demonstrates they see him as his own person.
As a child, he acts out because he externalizes his parents' emotional neglect, which in turn shapes him into an abuser. It has catastrophic consequences, moreso than for many bullies because of the power his family has, which means it follows him into adulthood. It's shitty to join an extremist group even if you are sixteen at the time. It's shitty to hurt people, to hate people. Nobody owes him forgiveness.
On the other hand, he was abused! Those are simultaneously true concepts. Emotional neglect is abuse. Being raised by uninterested/enabling, overbearing, violent (physical or verbal/emotional) narcissists is abuse. He is abused, and he is an abuser.
What really gets me about Draco is that...unlike so, so many people who never confront this painful truth about themselves -- that they are abusive because they were abused (and I think that for some people who are abusive, it's easier to admit they're abusive than to admit they were ever hurt enough, vulnerable enough, to be abused) -- one day Draco sees what he's become and why, and he chooses something else.
drags hands down face do you realize how difficult and rare that is, oh my god
In response to not getting the attention I deserve, I will give others the attention they deserve. In response to not getting the attention I deserve, I will love my own son and see him as his own person. In response to not getting the attention I deserve, I will listen and emotionally invest myself in my son's life.
He breaks the cycle.
Draco Fucking Malfoy, everyone!!! goddamn!!

Actually this is what I was thinking as well, Selina is great, but as a friend and a wine aunt, but the kids are still just kids, and some of them ended up preferring someone that takes care of them especially the younger ones.
(maybe if the kids are way older, Selina would relate to them better, but I usually depicts Selina as more or less 5-6 years younger than B and Talia as one or two years older than B by their dynamics)
But since Tim and Dami are just babies, and Talia handles them better, they basically prefers Talia. The older kids are okay with both but seeing that their dad and Selina chases each other in a circle, they just kinda fed up because they need stability in their life, and Dick while resents his mom for leaving, ended up following through with the plan as he misses his mom and wanting to have a full family with his brothers. Tim is ambivalent, but Talia's raising her kids to logically think and work (just look at Damian) Timothy would fit better since he's smart, just easily bored.
Jason is a momma's boy. He would agree nonetheless as long as his mom is happy, but he's still salty with Bruce. He plans everything as he has resources and ninjas to spare.
Damian is too young, but he's perceptive. And more brothers means more people to fetch him his snacks and milk bottles so he's just following through with the plan.
Selina would still be happy tho in the end, she kinda prefers to live freely and since Sel's age is a bit younger than Bruce, Bruce is already in the 'settle down' stage and wanting stability and Selina is still living her life untethered, hence the neverending circular chase.
She would ended up being the kids' wine aunt with the sirens however, visiting with gifts from travels and missions, and roasting Bruce's idiocy with Talia from time to time, in a lunch or tea time or while she's visiting the kids.

After fourteen years. Robert's naked back isn't glittering, and he grew into a real bat. Echolocating with glares and seething 'vengeance' into the void.
Kudos to Robert, delivering the most emo-depressed yet one of the funniest bat in the big screen imo.
Not all actors playing B would want to look like a depressed wet cat instead of sexy, but hey he pulled it off perfectly~

Thank you OP for translating this novel
This novel is perhaps one of my favorite story with political rollercoaster dumpster fire inside the royal harem that I have the utmost pleasure to encounter so far 💕

“Some people say, in the Imperial Harem favor has always been more important than a sincere heart. In the past, she didn't believe that. She mustered up all her strength, held back and backed off, just because he said he'd protect her well. In the blink of an eye, she ended up as an abandoned concubine of the Cold Palace.
Is it because people's hearts are changeable or because the Emperor used it to make his own moves? The answer is no longer important. The important thing is that from the day she left the Cold Palace, she didn't want to remain a pale gem buried in the depths of Inner Palace. From the former intimate maidservant Ā'Ruò, to the arrogant and domineering Noble Consort Huì, to the cunning and circumspect Empress Fùchá... she chases each one of them step by step with a smile on her face. However, when her enemies fall one by one, the truth becomes even more confusing.
In this ruthless and rigorous plot, who is planning, who is calculating and who is the biggest beneficiary behind the scenes? How did the passionate, dark and suspicious Emperor cool her once warm heart, one step at a time?
All are vying to be the most gorgeous flower to bloom in the Palace gardens but they don't know that no matter how beautiful they're, they will end up dead and defeated unless they become the owner of this garden..."
