"you can't judge someone on vibes alone" INCORRECT, while snap judgements are rarely accurate in the sense that you can't tell someone's home situation based on how they sit or what they wear, they are still useful once you learn the Local Basic Patterns Of Behavior

for example, if I see a person in public and get Unpleasant Vibes, it is usually because they:

are being rude (taking up an unnecessary amount of walkway, making noise or forgoing headphones, talking to someone who is trying not to engage)

are saying awful things (ranging from authoritative parenting to genuine bigotry)

have threatening body language towards someone who is trying to be smaller (esp. men and cops)

are giving sour looks to people just trying to exist (I do not trust anyone who gets offended by the presence of a homeless person sitting quietly across the room)

or are laughing at another person's appearance

you don't get "vibes" from someone's face or clothes. you get vibes from their speech, their body language, their actions in public towards strangers. I can't tell their tax bracket or if they like fantasy novels, but I can tell they behave in ways I don't like, and so I shall simply avoid them, because those behaviors follow a pattern for the majority of people.

It's incredible how people have been protesting pants and skirts not having pockets but not a single peep is heard over the fact that skirts no longer have underskirts by default. Underskirts (or lining) was a thing when I was a child, no skirt would be made without lining, you didn't have to think and check if your whole ass is visible in a skirt because lining was a thing!!!! Now most skirts don't and it's simply because it's cheaper, fuck the fact that a customer doesn't want their panties shown in broad daylight, it saves a couple of cents on material.

I don't actually care much about Taylor Swift as a person. I will never know what she is "really" like, so it doesn't matter to me. I care that she is, along with dozens of other wealthy people, directly contributing to the worst symptoms of Capitalism. She's just one of the group of Rich People I Hate.

It's the very specific group of Swifties who act like she's Special and Better and Smarter and Sooo Out Of Everyone's League that make me feral with rage. Because she's not Special or Better or Smarter. She's a person, a pop star. Taylor Swift is just a lady who can sing, not the Messiah.

There is, of course, also the culture of misogyny and ageism that says young women should never be allowed success, and that's bullshit that needs dismantling, but defending a talented female artist from unwarranted cruelty is different from being part of a fan club that's almost a cult.

I know Tanith Lee wrote "Biting The Sun" to show how even a supposed utopia can be oppressive and deadly to community, individuals, and the concept of Being A Human, but she really went off with the "ability to change your body and gender on a whim" thing. like, I dunno if other genderfucked people ever wrote to her about it, but Tanith Lee told me that in the distant future everyone will consider gender a fun game to play and if you settle on one early, that's cool, but you aren't expected to. you are expected to explore and have fun and choose what makes you feel good and whole. Tanith Lee gave me a book full of nothing but genderqueer characters and now folks are confused as to why I think the future will be beautiful.

it's because I read Good SciFi as a kid!!! books that promised me freedom and showed me ways to prevent corruption!!! books that taught me to fight for the basic right to Do Things!!! books that impressed upon me that the world is big and beautiful and breathtaking and I can help keep it that way!!!
