I’m so relieved to see the new GO fandom members are finally, accurately tracing the history of the South Downs Thing - your role in eliciting the info from the authors while Terry was still alive, your epic CoT fic that was the first Downs story in the fandom, all of it. I hope that post gets the thousands of notes it deserves. This fandom history is vital to the online/IRL presence of GO in equal measure. After we almost lost you to dire health in 2019-20, I’m proud and glad we still have you.
Hey, anon, thank you, and so much love to you. Don’t forget it. I was in my early 20s when I first entered this fandom in late 2004/early 2005. I have grown up, and grown as a writer, with the encouragement of my peers and elders here. Now, just over 40, I’m surprised to still be alive (for the reason you cite); I’m relieved that I’m still here breathing, connecting with others, and writing.
I never thought I’d see a full scale podfic or audio drama of CoT in my lifetime, but it became a reality while I was ill. It’s linked in the reblog chain of that post you mention (I’ve pinned that on my blog), and it is perhaps the most impressive feat of collaboration and coordination that I’ve ever seen. Please, please listen and give them feedback on the project. It’s on AO3 like my written version of the fic is, linked as a Related Work.
For all of these reasons and more, I couldn’t be prouder that GO has been my fandom home. 2023 marked the year in which I can say I’ve participated in GO Holiday Exchange every year since it was begun in December 2005. This fandom has an online history of nearly 20 years et this point, if not more. We’re a marvel 💙

The Mods hope to see everyone back next year, and new participants are welcome!
Creators are now free to post their works in any forum! But...if you're planning to post on AO3, we've set up a Collection (2023 Good Omens Holiday Exchange) in which you can include your work if you choose.
When you create your post, search for the collection under "Post to Collections/Challenges" (the other years' Exchange collections are there as well, in case you missed them!).
Our next post will be a chance to provide feedback to the Mods.

The Mods are grateful for everyone's patience while waiting to honor all Exchangelings with a bespoke anonymous gift! Our 40 participants presented 43 gifts of love created for the fandom. We once again thank all the creators, their betas, and everyone who takes the time to enjoy the gifts and post comments for our talented group of artists and writers! We were happy to welcome back our past Exchangelings to the GOE this year, and many new people.
By the end of today, we will post the Reveal and provide an opportunity to give feedback to the Mods. Meanwhile, why not take the time to read and comment on the last two lovingly-created gifts while the creators remain anonymous?
With sincere thanks, Maniacalmole, Vulgarweed and Lunasong365
Now for the matching game! A link is provided to the prompt sets so you can see what prompt the creators were working with. This also provides an opportunity to finally see a full list of participants. Feel free to play this game in any manner you wish. The Great Reveal will occur yet today, Jan 12!

yes, there's 2 of these posts, I accidently deleted this one (the original) from the blog and wanted to make sure it showed up it the tags, so I added a new one... Mod Luna 🙄 But reblogging this saves the previous notes!
The final gift of the 2023 Good Omens Exchange is HERE!
In this late -1970s period piece you can almost hear, Aziraphale and Crowley are both tasked by their respective sides to infiltrate the London punk scene. As usual, they manage to learn far more about each other...yes, like that. Rated Mature.
Enjoy, and stay tuned for the Matching Game and the Big Reveal!

We're back with the 2nd-to-last gift! We know you've been anxiously waiting; thank you for your patience as it helps us honor every gift and participant.
Author's summary: It’s taken Crowley over 6000 years to figure out where they stood in the world, but as of right now they knew three things: one - they were still a demon amongst humans who would go along with Hell just as far as they could, two - that they were in love with an Angel who happened to be just as in love with them, and most recently, three - they were genderfluid, according to human standards, and wished to present more feminine. Now they just have to tell Aziraphale.
“It’s not about the world this time. It’s a simple thing, but it feels so big.”

For this evening we have a lovely art piece / comic. In another time, Aziraphale and Crowley enjoy an evening at the theater. Shakespeare is still popular after all these years for a reason...
sometimes his works strike a chord...

This evening we have a tense but kind and warm hurt/comfort tale, in which Crowley accidentally is served something he really, really shouldn't have been.
Mind the content notes here, and be reassured that all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well (as Julian of Norwich said and made the redundancy necessary).

Happy New Year to all!
Our first posting of 2024 is a delightful if chilly tale of shelter and sustenance, in a fascinating Fae Court AU!
England's harshest winter, the laws of hospitality, and an act of kindness to great mutual benefit.

Happy New Year's Eve, exchangelings and all GO fans!
This evening we have a delightful tale of intrigue and romance - New Year's Eve 1988 finds Aziraphale and Crowley at a charity ball, and set at cross purposes by an unwelcome appearance from Gabriel.
Nevertheless, these two always have their own agenda. Read and see how it all shakes out, and leads to a champagne toast in a little cottage, not to far in the future.

Spend one of the last dark evenings of the year looking back on All Hallow's Eve, with Aziraphale and Crowley, who attend a local Haunted House fundraiser. Will they be frightened? Will they be frightening? Or is it all just a great game of Silly Buggers?
We thank you all so much for participating in the Exchange this year, whether by creating a gift or showing your support with comments and reblogs. We've got a little less than a week left, but there are always more to look through from past years on Dreamwidth!

How must Crowley and Aziraphale appear to the unsuspecting humans who live and work in Soho? Witness them 'Through the Years' from the eyes of a man who is at times baffled and inspired by these two strange people. We wonder along with him--will they ever get it all figured out? Will any of us?
As the New Year approaches, it's time for reflecting on the past. The Exchange has been going for nearly two decades now, and is proud to offer you hundreds of fics and art. Keep us in mind throughout the year if you're ever craving some wonderful Good Omens stories!

While traveling together soon after forming the Arrangement, Crowley and Aziraphale are attacked by bandits. Aziraphale tries to get an injured Crowley to safety while they both grapple with the nature of their relationship.
Today we present a historical hurt/comfort fic that's heavy on the comfort. Travel back in time to Baghdad in the year 1030, soon after the start of the Arrangement, and watch as these two utterly fail to be enemies--in the very best way. This one will leave you feeling cozy and smiling for sure. Don't forget to leave a comment for our wonderful authors and artists!

Aziraphale noticed a similarity between himself and Muriel that made him insecure. Crowley didn’t think it was anything to be embarrassed about.
We love Aziraphale's enthusiasm, but no one loves it more than Crowley. Check out this Rated Explicit fic to see why.
The Exchange has just a few more gifts left to post for this year. Catch up on the ones you might have missed on Dreamwidth, and don't forget to leave a comment for the lovely people who worked so hard to create them!

What could be more fun than The Them at an amusement park? How about teenage Them, on a mission to win a certain prize--and to have the most fun!
Thank you to everyone who has participated in this year's Exchange so far, whether by creating a gift, commenting, or reblogging our posts. We really appreciate everyone's help in keeping this tradition alive for its nineteenth year! If you've just come across it now, check out all our gifts, past and present, on Dreamwidth.
