Was anyone going to tell me this Christian maiden was thrown to a brothel for her confession of faith and refusal of marriage but the first guy that burst into the door was a soldier who believed and who disguised her in his uniform so she could get out then was taken to be martyred himself and when he got there was met by the maiden who refused to let him be martyred alone, or was I just supposed to read a reference to it in a medieval text on friendship and follow the footnotes to another medieval text which records it as a well-known tale to use it as an example of courageous virgin martyrs myself?

Love this. A census return from 1911 which records the birth of a new baby in the household, 10 minutes old and still no name :)

Looking over my posts I think I sound far more right wing than I am…for the record I care about environmental regulations, think we need to reign in a lot of police privileges, am supportive of government safety nets for citizens, and generally think both parties are the same corrupt and don’t care about any cause or person other than their own power.

So in 2020 my ordination to the priesthood was postponed because of covid. In 2021 we decided to move across the country to pursue full time work for the church, knowing it would delay any ordination for another year or two (if I had stayed in California my priest was approaching my bishop about being ordained in the summer of 2021, so thats kinda another missed one). Well I’ve been told it’s likely to be much sooner than a year or two…I’ve just got my first set of priestly vestments (and they are beautiful y’all) so…prayers? We’ll see. April?

I've been having trouble with a habitual sin recently and I'm not sure how to combat it along with prayer. I've talked with my priest about it and he said that it can be quite hard to break them, and that he's glad I'm trying to take it on. Gave me a prayer for if I fall into it. I'm not sure if there's tips to fight against the habitual sins one might have aside from prayers. Any suggestions? I can get more detailed if that would help. God Bless!
Habitual sins are both our most difficult to challenge, but 3 the greatest gift for our salvation. It is in that struggle that you can really attain a crown. St. Piasios told of a monk who scandalised others by his drunkenness every day. After his death someone made a comment to St. Paisios who told them that day by day the monk had chipped away at how many drinks he had, and though still drunk by the evening he had earned a crown in his struggle.
It can help to build up willpower through gaining strength in other areas - fasting is of particular help, but also not complaining mentally about the length of services, or going to more, or in some way denying ourselves. This can sometimes lead to willpower fatigue though so to make sure that your break of willpower isn’t the habitual sin, find an innocent pleasure you can indulge in when it gets to be too much.
Do not neglect some form of morning and evening prayer, and include in them a prayer to a saint who will help you as well.
May God comfort and keep you!

So uh….some dude apparently recreated Adobe Photoshop feature-for-feature, for FREE, and it runs in your browser.
Anyway, fuck Adobe, and enjoy!
