ok I know in the city showdown metropolis gets the reputation as the golden city vs gotham's "rent is $200 a month but it's fucking haunted and the joker blows up a school bus every other week". but consider for a minute how weird it is that metropolis citizens are so upbeat given the frequency with which gigantic intergalactic threats hit their city. like you can buy a gun and arguably have a chance against someone like the riddler in a 1v1 match. but if fucking mongul decided to end your life you'd be vaporized before you could even think. living in metropolis is like living in a bright but fragile glass house where, with alarming frequency, villains powerful enough to be an existential threat to humanity come down from outer space to crush it. and that's not even getting into the fact that even the "regular" criminals like mannheim are usually armed with literal alien weapons - like tf are you supposed to do against a mugger who has a plasma gun that looks like it's from the 31st century?? - or the fact that lex luthor's insidious influence puts advanced military grade weapons on the streets. and instead of being nihilistic, metropolitans are almost annoyingly unbothered by it, even to the point of optimism.
what i'm saying is, gotham's creepy, but in a way that is almost predictable - the gothic architecture and the unfriendly citizens and the street level, twisted criminals. metropolis SHOULD be in a state of terror, but it's sunny and everyone there is smiling. that dichotomy is arguably creepier to me.

"In a historic “first-of-its-kind” agreement the government of British Colombia has acknowledged the aboriginal ownership of 200 islands off the west coast of Canada.
The owners are the Haida nation, and rather than the Canadian government giving something to a First Nation, the agreement admits that the “Xhaaidlagha Gwaayaai” or the “islands at the end of world,” always belonged to them, a subtle yet powerful difference in the wording of First Nations negotiating.
BC Premier David Eby called the treaty “long overdue” and once signed, will clear the way for half a million hectares (1.3 million acres) of land to be managed by the Haida.
Postal service, shipping lanes, school and community services, private property rights, and local government jurisdiction, will all be unaffected by the agreement, which will essentially outline that the Haida decide what to do with the 200 or so islands and islets.
“We could be facing each other in a courtroom, we could have been fighting each other for years and years, but we chose a different path,” said Minister of Indigenous Relations of BC, Murray Rankin at the signing ceremony, who added that it took creativity and courage to “create a better world for our children.”
Indeed, making the agreement outside the courts of the formal treaty process reflects a vastly different way of negotiating than has been the norm for Canada.
“This agreement won’t only raise all boats here on Haida Gwaii – increase opportunity and prosperity for the Haida people and for the whole community and for the whole province – but it will also be an example and another way for nations – not just in British Columbia, but right across Canada – to have their title recognized,” said Eby.
In other words, by deciding this outside court, Eby and the province of BC hope to set a new standard for how such land title agreements are struck."

Adults: Following rules is good, not following rules is bad
Little me: Okay :] *follows a rule*
Adults: Oh my god look at this loser. He doesn't know that this rule is Secretly Okay To Not Follow. Dumbass. Let's all laugh at him

HETEROSEXUAL CIS-PEOPLE LOOK HERE
Tumblr media
Snaps my fingers at you as you scroll past this post
Look at me. Listen.
I'm not the best at serious posts, but that article up there reminded me of how important it is that people like you stand up for us. So hold on while I try to get this out of my mushy end-of-work-day brain.
We could fight this fight ourselves for decades trying to reach the equal laws, gender affirming trans healthcare that doesn't have a 2-5+ soul-eating years of waiting time, medical care with equal knowledge of lgbtqia+ bodies, and, what is often forgotten, inclusion in the little everyday areas of life like our way of speaking or things being set up or designed with the existence of queer people in mind.
But you joining in could get us there so much faster.
The power you have as a hetero cis person is that you set the standard for what is seen as the average way of treating us among other hetero cis people. You have been given the power of deciding what's "normal" and I'm begging you to use it.
Richard Green is a great example of to what extent your actions can help our situation, and smaller ways of support still add up to a great impact on society, and could make the days of the queer people you interact with.
Educate yourself before you speak up, but don't be silent.

Zuko: And finally, allow me to introduce the Avatar, Aang.
Aang: Ambassador Aang.
Zuko: Ambassador of what? You’re the only member of your nation.
Aang: And whose great-grandpa’s fault is that?
Zuko: Touche, ambassador.
Aang: I changed my mind now I’m King Aang.
Zuko: What.
Aang: King of the Air Nomad.
Zuko: That doesn’t even make any- whatever. Let’s just proceed with the meeting.

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

Sharing this here too
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do not usually make posts like this but recently I have seen a lot of content on Instagram, Twitter and I think tiktok too misunderstanding the meaning of intrusive thoughts, which may cause people experiencing them to be upset.
I have tried to shortly explain the difference of impulsive and intrusive and hope it will help people to understand and use the words correctly.
Reblogs are very much appreciated!
