For Rana Alsawalhi’s family, they’ve lost several members of their family already and need to evacuate Gaza immediately - this is urgent, please share and donate - and send to your friends, followers, and family! €20,500 out of €73,5000 (4/22/2024)
The watcher reaction has been really wild to watch. Like the elephant that somehow isn't in the room is that buzzfeed's video production was unprofitable and relied on overworking and underpaying a ton of people to sustain itself.
If you listen to youtubers about money you would already know that youtube is super sketchy as a source of income. Thats why everyone has merch and a patreon and a podcast and a live stream and they might be on nebula or going on tours. Maintaining monetization on any given video is a crapshoot and the requirements to stay relevant to the algorithm are opaque.
This is why collegehumor became dropout!
The idea that an entire production company would be like 'hey its $6 a month to see our content' is pretty reasonable.
Your idea of accessibility has been based around the exploitation and overworking of creators. It baffles me how people don't realize how that is unsustainable.
The fact that you can't afford it is not a problem with the people charging you a reasonable rate. Its a problem with the fact that everyone else is not getting proper pay for their labor and the results of this are so normalized that you can force people back into an exploitative model!
You are not entitled to someone’s labor! Artists do not owe you art for free!
Hey everyone, please consider buying the 2024 itch.io Palestinian Relief Bundle- it's 373 games, game-making assets, tabletop roleplaying games, zines, and comics for a minimum of just 8 USD! They have a goal of 100,000 USD, and as of the time I'm writing this post, they have 8 more days to reach it.
Currently thinking about Nauta’s post and the way that fandoms are increasingly using revolution inspired rhetoric and throwing themselves into inconsequential movements as a means to romanticise fighting for a cause and to feel like they are a part of an actual revolution because that is far easier and more black and white than having to shut up and show up and do research and be uncomfortable and accept their privilege and look at things that scare them and do things that scare them and put actual energy into fighting to help real people
The perfect symmetry of Sophomore Year Riz rearranging the letters in “Garthy O’Brien” incorrectly to spell “Night Yorb” and Junior Year Riz’s first Fantasy ACT question being a correct word jumble of “Night Yorb” that the Intrepid Heroes are convinced on first impression has to spell “Garthy O’Brien”
