A great read. Also hilarious.
The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu reveal their zenarchistic method used in making the unthinkable happen.
“The Manual” got published following the success of “Doctorin’ The Tardis” by The Timelords. In their book, Drummond and Cauty lay out a detailed plan for how to have a novelty pop No. 1. starting from a position of no money and no talent. It also serves as an excellent guide to the music industry and the rules of pop, and as a description of the fun that the KLF had being the Timelords as well as various pieces about some of the KLF collaborators.

Came across an article and sent this out to some friends/fam:
“ Interesting study:
https://getpocket.com/explore/item/people-with-extreme-political-views-have-trouble-thinking-about-their-own-thinking?utm_source=pocket-newtab
I have been thinking about this topic, as most of you know, for some time.  This seems to reinforce that thought process.  The bit where they say " It’s not currently known whether radical beliefs help shape metacognition, or metacognition helps shape radical beliefs, Fleming says, is something his team is still trying to unravel. " ("metacognition" being the "ability to evaluate whether or not they might be wrong" or confidence level in one's opinion/beleifs) is something I have come to a hypothesis about.  To me it is the holding of radical beliefs that causes the drop in metacognition.  As a brief summary of my argument I point to the idea of identity and group membership as a strong cause.  This works in the other direction too - that the other group is just that - other and wrong.  The ego needs to be resistant to changing the view in order to avoid upsetting the person's entire sense of self.  This impetus actually becomes stronger the further to either extreme you get.  There are other factors as well, for example, in holding an extreme view, one often knows it to be extreme (one can even be proud of that), and so to avoid having to consider one's self as being 'bad' for holding such a extreme view (which in some cases, may actually be contradictory or at least dissonant with ones core values or morals; there is a mitigating rationalisation for it)  that one has to believe one is right to avoid ego collapse.  This can happen on both personal and group levels.  An example being how people on either side can find ways to justify murder - see recent attempts at violence against US political figures - both against Trump as well as against various democratic congresspeople.   Both extremes have an impetus against such acts; the radical liberal from principles of non-violence/ghandiism and the radical conservative from the 6th commandment.
Additionally, I find this relates to general life and not just politics.  I may have mentioned to some of you another study I came across a while back indicating  that MRI scans show that people in positions of authority tend to have brain damage to the part of the brain responsible for empathy ( https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/07/power-causes-brain-damage/528711/  and another similar article I found looking fdor that one: https://www.inc.com/geoffrey-james/business-success-can-cause-brain-damage-according-to-scientists.html ).  It appears related to me not just in terms of the symptom but also in terms of the causality; the brain is willing to subvert itself to preserve the ego and avoid crisis.
Again as I have mentioned, I find the movie Memento to be a great allegory of this process. “

roddyroddyroddy: Season 2 titles View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jakub Broś (@grannygremlin) on Nov 22, 2019 at 5:29am PST The Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet just had a run of 3 reunion shows, and I went to opening night. Unfortunately sans the original bass player (Reid Diamond; RIP). Dallas Good of The Sadies filled in and actually played Reid’s vintage 70s Gibson Thunderbird bass so it all sounded correct. See third vid above for Having an Average Weekend (KitH theme song). Also:

i was challenged last week by a listener over my declaration that john taylor was the best bass player of the 80s. it was said hooky ‘wanted a word with me’.
peter was was the best bass player of the 70s, certainly to me anyway, but john was more inventive in the 80s. i stand by what i said. fight me again.

You thought The Ramones had short songs n sets?  Bitch please; meet John Milner You’re So Boss.  Good peeps; used to play with them (and The Magic Cheezies) all the time at Teranga when that was a thing.

I don’t even remember these guys (hardcore tends to blur together for me a bit), but from the related links I am guessing it is also because this was the one show we had at Polyhaus where I had to break up fights.  A couple pussy shitheads were sucker punching people - one of them cried for me to stop when I grabbed him by the collar and raised my fist (he had just punched a guy I was holding back, and was therefore defenseless, and I had about had enough at that point - moment of weakness I am not [proud of for sure, but I did not end up punching him so...).  Fuck straight edgers 4 real.  Like seriously guys, do a beer and relax. ... or maybe make less aggressive music, cuz that’s a pretty much a drug too, especially in your case.  Dipshit.
Not the band’s fault - to quote Sloan “it’s not the band I hate; it’s their fans”

That time we had Faun Fables from Cali headline and, like, nobody came.  One of the best shows we had at Polyhaus, in part due to the intimacy.  Also their tour van is a trip, lemme tell ya.
And another song from the same show:

Random Youtube surfing related links find.  Bruised Knees (including [former] members of The Creeping Nobodies, Ohmno, Pacific Trash Vortex, Darlene Shrugg ,and  Ice Cream , just to name a few - look these people have been in a lot of cool groups ok) playing live at Polyhaus, a venue I used to run in Toronto.
...lol - that time we had Black Dice play and their rider listed gear requirements that would be overkill for an outdoor festival (we were <2000 sq ft with a capacity of a coupla hundred).
Now that I found one, I keep finding more - so more posts of bands playing Polyhaus comin I guess.

Thanks for posting that!  Sorry for the confusion though (I did not say when I submitted, folks, just sent a link) - band is PTV;  Lonely Boy Hotel was the Album.  But, like, fair enough: they were usually misbilled as “Pacific Thrash Vortex” in the local concert listings, which may have been a better band name - certainly more appropriate when opening for Jay Retard, which is about when it started.
