I like how little Catherine Earnshaw is described in the novel. Her “brown ringlets” are only mentioned once in the novel, and we only learn of her “dark eyes” and “a certain arch of (her) nostril that makes her appear rather haughty” because her daughter has these traits. (Though earlier we also learn that Hareton’s eyes resemble Catherine’s and he’s described as a “brown-eyed” boy.) When Nelly properly describes her character in Chapter 5, only physical description she gives is her having “the bonniest eye, the sweetest smile, and the lightest foot in the parish”, traits that are more indicative of her dynamic personality than a picturesque sort of beauty.
Compare this to how her daughter is described by Lockwood:
“She was slender, and apparently scarcely past girlhood: an admirable form, and the most exquisite little face that I have ever had the pleasure of beholding; small features, very fair; flaxen ringlets, or rather golden, hanging loose on her delicate neck; and eyes, had they been agreeable in expression, that would have been irresistible: fortunately for my susceptible heart, the only sentiment they evinced hovered between scorn and a kind of desperation, singularly unnatural to be detected there.”
(Chapter 2, WH)
“(Hareton’s) handsome features glowed with pleasure, and his eyes kept impatiently wandering from the page to small white hand over his shoulder, which recalled him by a small slap on the cheek, whenever its owner detected such signs of inattention. Its owner stood behind; her light, shining ringlets blending, at intervals, with his brown looks, as she bent to superintend his studies; and her face-it was lucky he could not see her face, or he would never have been so steady. I could; and I bit my lip in spite, at having thrown away the chance I might have had of doing something besides staring at this smiting beauty.”
(Chapter 32, WH)
Make of this what you will.

Me when we didn’t get one damn reference
Me when I realized that the Party is entering high school the same year The Breakfast Club came out and that there’s a character for every high school stereotype portrayed within the cast to have an episode full of John Hughes parallels:
