here is a character theme i made for my friend @whentheleahvesfall for his character cormac! i tried to capture all of his angst and sadness, and also tried to emulate the super mystery dungeon OST as much as i could. cormac is from leah's PSMD fanfic "To Look Upon the Future", which you can read here along with his other works. he's also an artist and you should check out his blog as well!

i've finally finished up an original PMD style song i've had sitting around for a while! i wanted to do something upbeat as opposed to the more moody/ambient stuff i tend to do here. this song embodies the another side of the pokemon mystery dungeon world that i love: the freedom to exist and explore the world with friends who truly care for you.

(i do plan to write out full and condensed scores for this piece soon, so look out for that!)

a while ago, someone asked for sheet music for "the purpose of a soul", the arrangement of "don't ever forget" that i did a few months ago. so i went ahead a created two scores, a full orchestration score and a version for solo piano. here is the full orchestration version: google drive link some notes: everything is written out in correct pitch except for the recorder quartet, which is condensed into a treble cleff staff and bass clef staff and written in concert pitch. sorry to all the recorder players, you'll have to transpose a little. and here is the solo piano version: google drive link some notes: this is a version that is (hopefully) all playable by one person, as such not every part is present. where you use the sustain pedal is ultimately up to you! i'm not much of a piano player so if it's awkward, i apologize.

thank you everyone for all the nice tags ;w; i really appreciate the support, it means a lot to have so many people listening to and enjoying my silly sounds.

rambling about my process and working with PMD sounds down below ⬇️

i tried to use more of my real wind ensemble/orchestra arranging techniques,  which are a bit more tricky to wrap my head around in a convential DAW (in my case LMMS). a lot of subtle layering and interlaced parts and trying to be mindful of instrument overlaps. a lot of aspects that are obvious and easy to keep track of on sheet music are not as obvious in a DAW.

using the PMD soundfont requires a bit of trial and error with arranging, as most sounds have one good register, while sounding weird in the rest of the range. so it needs a lot of testing of different sounds to see which best fits the timbre/range that i need, plus careful note picking and layering to help out weaker instruments. it's a bit of challenge to keep to this limited sound set, but it's the best way to capture the nostalgic feeling of the actual OST. although i do add a generous amount of reverb, so it's not game accurate at all LOL. my goal isn't to be game accurate, since i'm not limited by anything (and frankly. i don’t understand how sounds in DS games work at the moment). i want to make what the OST sounded like to me in my imagination when i was a child, seen through the lense of an blurry memory.

someday i would like to make more stuff for this blog. unfortunately i have been really busy with other projects and i had to put this blog to the side. pokemon mystery dungeon song covers are time consuming for me to make, and i can't really post them on spotify and such, so i'm less motivated to make them. in the future it's more likely that i will return to this blog with original mystery dungeon music (for my story or otherwise).

i understand a lot of my followers might only have followed for pmd background/sprite rips, but that is not what i do anymore. i'd rather make something original instead of posting someone else's work.

i want to use this blog to musically, artistically, and poetically develop my mystery dungeon fan story; i was kinda on and off about it before but that's always what i wanted to do here. this is just a project for fun, so it will be less of a priority to me than my main music projects, but as i work on it i will post here. i have no promises of a timeline or schedule, but i do plan to return eventually.

thank you to everyone who has supported me. the pmd community is really awesome and i'm glad to have had a small part of it. i've said a lot, so i'll go back to being quiet lol

hi hello, my new album “kitten lives” comes out in 3 days (wednesday the 23rd!).

it includes 10 songs and is just over an hour long. it is my most personal work so far and faces my darkest feelings.  these songs are about agony, loss, heartbreak, fear, hopelessness, and maybe healing.

the songs are a mix of the contemporary classical and minimalist styles i played in school, built from the retro console and computer sounds i grew up with.

it will be out on spotify, bandcamp, and youtube :3

i’ve been working on adding a lot more to this page. right now i have an original OC universe i’m working on, plus uploading some sonas and such. i’m planning on hopefully putting up some of my PMD characters and ideas (and more) up here soon!

i made a toyhouse account! i’m mostly using it to catalog my poetry/writing stuff (under the “library” tab), but i will be posting the occasional character or thing i’ve drawn. kind of just trying it for the time being, but hopefully i can fill up my page with stuff i’ve made.
