hi! i'm a new witch and don't know much, i hi! Im a new witch and i was gonna research wicca but now im having second thoughts, could you elaborate on why you don't like it or why people should avoid it? i'm genuinely curious, i don't want my practice to accidentally involve somthing bad
Well it depends on the approach. Wicca as a spiritual or religious practice is (mostly) harmless. From this perspective the worst aspect of it is the cultural appropriation. But I would say that all of it is bad. It just contains some unnatural religious syncretism.
That said, as a tradition or practice of witchcraft it is simply put wholly ineffective and downright harmful. As a occult practice, it is pretty much a 1:1 duplication of Crowley- who was not only a piece of shit, but was also batshit. As an occult practice, it relies nearly entirely on correspondences and visualization. Like Crowley’s work, it contains just enough stuff that sounds and feels right (appropriated) that it seems like it could work- but it’s a mashing of metaphysics and magical ideas without any of the important contexts that made the ideas functional. Like Reiki and The Law of Attraction, it’s basically just make believe. I am writing an article about this where I’ll go more in depth and provide sources but I have no timeline for its completion. Maybe this summer.
I wouldnt say Wicca is bad. It’s just ineffective. Magically speaking the worst thing is that publishers like Llewelyn have made Wiccan magic so prominent that finding other practices becomes difficult.

Witch Tip
Dont deny yourself the right to write curses. Down the line they may evolve into excellent healing and protection spells. It’s silly to deny the human and neutral aspects of magic. Sometimes great things come out of the worst of times.

What is Witchcraft? Spell Design Conceptualization Vs. Visualization
Introduction
When a witch (Or other practitioner of magical and mystical forces) casts a spell, what are the chances that the spell will succeed? It’s a trick question, really. Spells can be, and often are, highly dependent on circumstance. Each minute nuance of the given environment, emotional states, physical interactions, outside events, and outside information all play a role in the probability of a spells success. Think of a spell, for sake of understanding, as a force that has a miniscule effect on the likelihood of an event occurring. This can be getting a job, being noticed, not being noticed, drawing money, manipulating street lights, etc. The possibilities are limitless, so long as the laws of physics are considered. This school of thought can also be called the principle of least effort.
Circumstance
The circumstance that a practitioner finds themselves in at the moment of a working will have a great effect on the success of that working. Does the working consider the emotional states of people involved? The normal movements of people, goods, and objects throughout the day? The more variables that are considered, the more likely the spell will cause a desired effect. Further, the way that the spell is designed to navigate these circumstances will have an even greater effect. An example would be: It'd be better to cast a spell for a resume to stand out among the others than to try and cast a spell onto the hiring manager. This is because the manager has so many nuances to their individuality. They interact with so many people, objects, and events throughout their day and going through resumes is just one of them. While enchanting a resume itself will only call their attention in the moments they set aside to go through them. There are significantly less variables to consider. It would be wise to have the enchantment also have an effect that happens upon viewing it that can help disconnect the manager from the stresses and other preoccupying nuances of their daily life, even if just for a moment.
Abduction, Induction, & Deduction
Deductive reasoning works from the more general to the more specific. Sometimes this is informally called a “top-down” approach. This involves beginning with thinking up a broad idea about our topic of interest. It is then narrowed down into more specific nuances that we can test, observe, or sympathize with. Then, it is narrowed down even further when we collect observations to address the original idea. When using deductive reasoning in witchcraft, it can be as simple as learning more about the environment the spell is going to affect, or as complicated as learning about statistical maths or physics.
Inductive reasoning works the other way, moving from specific observations to broader generalizations and theories. Informally, this is sometimes called a “bottom up” approach. With inductive reasoning, The first step starts with specific observations and measures, and detecting patterns and regularities, formulating some tentative idea that we can explore, and finally ending up developing some general approach. This skill can be handy when designing a spell before actually having a use for it. This approach will also help outline the optimal or beneficial circumstances for the spell's success.
Abductive reasoning works by drawing from known information and making educated guesses to fill in the blanks. This can be extremely useful for spell design, provided you have a lot of information to start with. When enough is learned about a situation, it becomes a lot easier to extrapolate from that incomplete data for a broader perspective. This makes navigating the situation much easier than going in blind. However, unlike the other two a broader bank of knowledge is nearly required.
Statistical Analysis & Probability Calculation
While statistics aren’t at all necessary to cast effective spells, it can certainly be very helpful. Using statistics for applications has to do with studies in psychology and sociology; as well as odds of events, like estimating the amount of resumes that a manager has to go through and calculating the probability of the placement of your resume in the fold. There are two types of statistics: descriptive statistics, which describes the properties of sample and population data, and inferential statistics, which uses those properties to test hypotheses and draw conclusions. Descriptive statistics are the most useful in the application of magic. Inferential can be useful, like in the example that I gave with the resumes. While they may not be necessary, understanding how to calculate probabilities can be a great tool to figure the path of least resistance.
Variations in Energetic Requirements
Both physically, and in an energy work sense trying to force a spell through a more complex path than necessary can be very draining. If the spell is too complex, which sometimes is the best option, could require more physical effort to follow up. Which can be helpful anyways, especially when it comes to subjects like mental illness; which, should always be second or third in terms of treatment. In an energy work sense, if the spell is too complex relative to the working done and/or the energy given, the spell won't be as effective, but could also just not work at all. There is a ratio that exists for energy put in and the complexity of the situation. This ratio can be difficult to figure out when first starting, but with the help of detailed spell logs it is possible.

Introduction to Gnosis Conceptualization Vs. Visualization Basics of Binding Basics of Banishing
Introduction
Gnosis, being the combination of headspace and focus, is an altered state in which the mind and self are indistinguishable from the task at hand. Though it may not seem like it, gnosis is especially helpful for those with attention disorders. However, it may be more difficult to enter into it than for others. Gnosis is very similar to experiencing hyperfocus.
Phases of Gnosis
To begin entering a state of gnosis, the subject and/or goal of the gnosis has to be decided on and thoroughly conceptualized. Gravity can be a very helpful analogy here. The headspace is like space and the point of desired gnosis is a planetary body. Focus is the orbital path that eventually merges with the center point and becomes a part of the mass. When first starting, The more understood and internalized a concept you have for your gnosis is, the larger the mass of the planetary body. The more time and space you lay out for your headspace and the purer it remains through the process, the smoother the orbital will be.
When first starting to enter gnosis, the orbital might be long and spiraling gradually ebbing towards the point in which gnosis is achieved. As you get more acquainted with the process, the orbit (focus) will gradually become shorter and require less time and energy before it drops into place.
If all conditions and preparations are in place, the first phase of entering gnosis is similar to a meditation. When first starting it may be helpful to sit in a comfortable position. A feeling like you’re drifting is normal, but remain tethered to the core concept. Once you start to drift, begin honing your focus on the core concept and how it relates to whatever working you are doing. Try to build as many connections as you can. This part of the process may feel fragmented or chaotic. Once all connections are established, try encompassing them all into a singular concept within your mind. This should feel like a stream of water that becomes more fine as the force of it grows stronger.
Lastly, move into the concept. Be of one mind about the concept. This should feel like a complete stillness, that somehow has some sort of rotation about it. Everything falls into place very quickly. It will be sort of like having tunnel vision. Once in gnosis, you can begin your working.
Types of Gnosis
The types of gnosis vary in terms of how they are experienced as well as their optimal applications.
Conceptual gnosis: This type of gnosis focuses solely on the non-physical. Things like love, morals, energy work, prosperity, etc. This type of gnosis is best applied to wide-cast magic, energy work, and spells relating to emotions.
Physical gnosis: This type of gnosis focuses solely on physical experiences. Things like exercise, sexual pleasure, physical senses, etc. This type of gnosis is best applied to spells that effect the body, exercise, sex magic, and enhancing physical senses.
State of grace: This type of gnosis is the most difficult to enter into. It focuses on all aspects of being, it is similar to the idea of experiencing “the highest self” or whatever those new age crystal-fascists call it. In this state of gnosis, your identity amalgamates into a singular presence, physical, psychic, and energetic senses become extremely heightened. Intent becomes what you are. All spellwork becomes much more potent. Substances are often used to try to get into this state. This type of gnosis will be the sole focus of the next article.
The Potency of Gnosis
Gnosis, once entered into, can vary in its potency. The type of gnosis can also affect the potency of the experience. Conceptual gnosis can probably vary the most, as some concepts are more aggregate than others. The more a practitioner can streamline their concepts into a singular form, the more potent it will be. Studying the concept at hand and having all of the available scientific, philosophical, and nuanced information adds significantly to the gnosis. This can be furthered by incorporating your specific circumstances around the concept. As an example, if someone is getting ready for casting a prosperity spell, they could research the different types of wealth, the way money moves through the system, the monetization of labor, community structures and connections. Then figure out how it connects to their life. By incorporating how people they know, their job, their art, etc works within those systems. Then collapsing all of that information into a singular concept. The more information that is incorporated the more potent the gnosis will be and feel.
Engaging in Witchcraft While in a State of Gnosis
It is so important to prepare before entering gnosis for spellwork! Be sure to set aside space and time for this, put on music that helps you create your headspace, and put on something comfortable. Also, if there are any incantations, gestures, energy work, and/or ritual components it is important to try to have all of those aspects memorized and incorporated into your gnosis. This is so that performing these actions won't interfere with the gnosis. Gnosis shouldn’t  be broken until the end of a working. If gnosis is broken before the end of the spell, it is best to bind and banish the spell and restart. Once solidly in gnosis and free of distraction, begin the spell. During the working, it should feel like the combination of a trance and out of body experience, one that is solidly rooted in the body if that makes any sense.
Safety Notes
Some forms of gnosis can exacerbate some mental illnesses. It is important to remain self aware and practice safely. Some really potent forms of gnosis can also be difficult to get out of completely. I highly recommend grounding thoroughly afterwards without entering into gnosis and doing something that is a little shocking to the body, like a splash of cold water to the face. Having gnosis linger can affect how you interact with your daily life, even if you do not have a mental illness.

What are wards?
Wards are magical barriers that protect the caster from a variety of things. These things include, but are not limited to: curses, spirits, undesired energies, attention, etc.
These barriers can be constructed through a variety of ways. Of course it goes without saying that each of these ways requires intent, focus, passion, & energy work.
Why every single practitioner should use them:
In every practitioner's life, they’ll come across something they would rather keep at arm's length. Most commonly it is going to be unwanted energetic or spiritual presences, provided the practitioner has sufficient energetic awareness. However, protecting from curses is always a good course of action.
There exists a plethora of methods to ward, ranging from very dense and complex, to physical and simple. However, it is important to note that some methods are more effective than others. There are also methods you’ll find on the internet that just don’t do anything. One that immediately comes to mind is the Golden Egg or Egg Shield, as these methods operate off of pure visualization; which is to say that they are imaginary.
Types of wards:
Energetic: The projection of energy into a construct that is programmed a specific way either in casting or by the use of energetic sigils.
Sympathetic: These methods include such use as curse blocking jars, horse shoes, brooms, etc
Talisman: Metasigils that are placed into wood, metal, or paper that are designed and programmed to protect against certain energies or entities.
Enchanted objects: Objects that are hexed to protect against unwanted energies or entities.
Sacred circles and spaces: A space that has been cleansed and sanctified, which blocks outside spiritual forces from entering.
Clothing: This technically falls under sympathetic. There exists in some cultures that hold the concept of certain colored clothing as being protective during ceremony or a working.
Symbols and Sigils: Sigils and symbols used to create a barrier against magical forces.
Divine protection: Petitioning a deity for protection.
Spiritual protection: Petitioning a spiritual entity for protection.
Psychic wards: Mental wards that are projected outwards via psychicism. This is not done through visualization.
In this next section I will be giving a few examples to set a framework for you to work within conceptually. Some of these may include concepts or terms that you aren’t familiar with.
If you’re new to witchcraft in general, I recommend starting with this post. If you’re new to energy work, I recommend starting with this post.
Beginner friendly wards and how to cast them:
Sympathetic: In a sympathetic ward, there are a few concepts that must be included. They are: what you wish to protect against; a solid emotional backing for the ward; a basic understanding of energy work; a proper headspace; and the items that have the correlating correspondences to you. To start, you’ll need to have everything needed right near your person, so that you do not break headspace to grab anything. Be sure that you have at least a rough plan as to your spell process. Cleanse yourself, your space, and all items involved in the casting. Then, take all of the items that you have correspondences for and energetically tie them together. This can be done while incorporating them into a larger object, like a candle or jar. Collect energy and run it through your subtle body, ending with your mind, where you’ll instill the intent of your ward into the energy. Be sure not to visualize throughout this process or it’ll hinder your ward. Visualization before or afterwards would actually strengthen your desired effect. Visualizing beforehand will give you a framework to work within and act as another correspondence. Then, place that energy as a thread through each item. While doing this, be sure that you are riding a wave of your emotional connotation in order to give your intent momentum. Once all the items are energetically and physically bound together, perform an action that is abrupt and creates some sort of noise to signify that you are complete. This helps your mind break away from the working and allows you to energetically disengage. Sympathetic wards can also be placed on to objects as an enchantment and carried on your person. However, doing so would require that the ward be energetically anchored. You may also do this to an object made of iron and place it over thresholds.
Clothing: This method is rather simple. Find a color that you correlate to the concept of protection and wear it. It could be beneficial to use the above method to instill your article of clothing with your intent, energetically. Without doing so would make this method the weakest that you could employ.
Sacred Spaces: To create a sacred space, you must first decide its perimeter. This can be a circle or the walls of a room. Cleanse the entire space and all objects. If you work with any deities or spirits, call them into the space to help you sanctify it; if you do not, you can skip this aspect. Then, create an energetic construct that is the same dimensions of the space you’ve decided on. It can be helpful to have spirits or correspondences for the cardinal directions to call on as well. If you work with spiritual entities, petition them to sanctify the energetic space. If not, pull your own essence out while completely engaged with your emotional momentum, headspace, and intent. Infuse your energetic construct with your essence of protection. Then, perform an action that is abrupt and creates some sort of noise to signify that you are complete. This helps your mind break away from the working and allows you to energetically disengage.
Symbols & Sigils: The first step to creating sigil or symbol wards is to create your sigils or symbols. If you are in the broom closet, it would be beneficial to have things hanging on your walls that you can hang in front of your sigils. Create these sigils on sheets of paper. Create a simple energetic construct projection of the space you’re warding. Then, energetically bind each sheet to this construct as instructed in the sympathetic section. Hang them on each wall of your space. If you’re closeted, you can either create the sigils on the back of wall-hangings or hang them in front of the sheets. Alternatively, you can draw directly on the wall with salt water. Salt water works best as when the water evaporates it’ll leave a salt residue in the shape of your sigils on the walls. If you'd like to check out my sigils, click here. (Wont let me increase link size, I'm sorry)
How to make wards more effective when beginning to learn how to cast them:
The best way to make your wards effective is to plan them out thoroughly. Think of all possible variables in what you're trying to protect from and all forms that it can take. The more information you have going into your working, the more accurate your ward will be. The second tip I have is to surrender completely to your headspace during casting. Enter a state of gnosis on your working. This applies to all spell casting. Lastly, revisit the anchor for your ward and ensure that it is still energetically present. If it isn’t, you may have to recast it or recharge it.
Important variables to keep in mind:
Visualization will hinder your wards so much. Wards cannot exist only in your imagination and be effective. You must actually go through the processes, both energetically and physically.
Be sure that you know what spirits you are working with. Verify every spiritual interaction you have in as many ways as possible. Do not take their word for it or just accept their vibes. For this reason, I did not include deity or spiritual petitions in this post.

The Wellsource
The Subtle body Conceptualization Vs. Visualization  Senses of The Subtle Body Advanced Astral Projection
Energetic Constructs
Advanced conceptualization of energy
When dealing with aggregate layers of energetic composites, information can become very dense and complex. This is why visualization isn’t effective at all in this stage. That, and the amount of information that is required to have an awareness of cannot be captured by visualization. Other than energetic awareness, it is crucial to have a thorough understanding of a few concepts. Firstly, energetic composites can be measured similar to spectrographs. Each independent frequency is identifiable. These frequencies, when studied individually and in amalgam, can be connected to each composite’s energetic properties.
Pitfalls for practicing advanced energy work
Due to the complexity of the nature of complex energy work, the mind can reach points where information is difficult to keep track of. These gaps can easily be filled with indirect data, which could heavily influence the objectivity of the working. This is why practice, notes and regular comparisons to workings are crucial.
Advanced concepts of the subtle body
The subtle body is a collection of super dense, stable, tethered energetic nodes. Each point is Conductive, Adiabatic, Enthalpic, and Refractive. These nodes modify and are modified by all the energy that cycle through the whole system. If not directly, then transitively. Not all conduits, or tethers, exist within the same spatial dimension. This becomes increasingly important to understand as a practitioner begins using the more interconnected hyper-dimensional nodes for energy work. That being said, the upper dimensional points are significantly difficult to find due to their dimensional phase. However, their location can be explored by paying close attention to minor fluctuations of the modulations and fluctuations of the system’s energetic states via the transference between each individual node.
Properties of energy
Energy is most commonly referred to as having properties within very human perspectives and concepts. Things like “prosperity” or “protection”, these are intentions that can be programmed into energy and not inherent properties to any existing energies. The only exceptions to this would be energies that are derived from divine or spiritual sources. Physical objects have energies without any native intentions. Slight intentions can be left in objects via interactions with people. These properties are purely how energetic composites interact.
Infinite: Regardless of the amount of energy absorbed or released the sum amount of energy does not change within a composite.
Insulative: Resists the transference of isolated frequencies.
Conductive: Low resistance to frequency transference.
Inductive: Attracts further energetic frequencies into the composite.
Thermal: Has frequencies that equalize into the environment without losing potency or affect within the composite.
Direct Current: Multiple frequencies in a composite transmits to another relative location, creating identical propagations.
Alternating Current: Frequencies within two composites alternate information bi-directionally in an oscillatory fashion.
Entangled: Discrete connections between two composites irrelevant of their relative positions in space or time.
Tethered: A direct circuit between two or more stable composites.
Spin: The degree of  self-reference between two overlapping frequencies.
Inert: A composite that does not interact with other composites in the surrounding environment.
Charge: The volume of frequencies within a composite.
Attractive: Compounds the volume of surrounding self-similar frequencies within a distance relative to initial density.
Repulsive: Repels individual self-similar frequencies, lessening its overall volume.
Unstable/reactive: Compounds with chaotic or discordant composites easily.
Metastable: Regardless of interactions, the properties and substituent frequencies within the composite do not change.
Bistable: Composites that oscillate between two distinct states that are triggered by interactions with other composites.
Adiabatic: Properties change without a gain or loss of volume or density.
Isentropic: Adiabatic, but the composite returns to its initial properties.
Cyclical: Frequencies within the composite fluctuate between several different states in a cyclical manner.
Enthalpic: Becomes Thermal when under pressure from near or connected composites.
Negentropic: The composite always returns to its initial state in terms of frequencies and properties without any observable influence.:
Refractive: When it interacts with other composites, it splits the composite into two different composites or frequencies.
Applications of Advanced Energy Work in Psychicism
All energy is information. All psychic abilities involve obtaining or manipulating information. Of course, this only applies to real psychic abilities, which omits: telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and other psychic abilities of fantasy and science fiction. By using combinations of energetic awareness and understanding energetic properties, it is possible to use energy work to boost psychic abilities.
Telepathy: All thoughts release energy through the brain's magnetic field. These wave consist of alpha, beta, and gamma radiation- in trace amounts, of course. These waves, like all things, are composed of complex compounds of energetic composites. While the types of radiation tell us the type of frequency that thoughts predominantly exist within, it doesn’t quite tell us the contents of the thoughts. Each wave release is composed of unique quanta on energies that fall within those three classifications. By tapping into Kimeya & Taoyita senses, it is fairly easy to start translating these fluctuations in radiation. Clairvoyance: Amplifying clairvoyance relies entirely on Taoyita, the fractal energetic sense and astral projection. To give a boost to clairvoyance, zoom out as far as possible, then transfer into a projection. Use that projection to manipulate the scope of your fields, which is a lot simpler in the pure energetic body. Anything within that scope becomes knowable. Observable. All that is left to do is to hone in on the proper composites.
Claircognizance: Unlike other psychic abilities, boosting this one is an entirely internal process. Rather than manipulating the range of perception, it's a matter of tuning your own connection points to the same frequencies as the information that is sought after, by matching the frequencies of said information.
Controlling multiple energetic constructs
Starting with a sphere, the simplest construct to maintain, divide the construct into two independent structures. Do this without altering the form, density, or size. Think of it as the sphere going through mitosis. Move the spheres so that they are orbiting your body in different orbital paths and velocities. Once this can be accomplished, divide each sphere in two. Repeat this process to the highest quantity that can be managed. When a minimum of 32 constructs can be comfortably maintained, move onto more complex constructs. Start with simpler forms, like the platonic solids. The next step is to have each object transform into a different shape as it is born. You know you’ve mastered this skill once in control of 64 individual forms with variety in form, density, and size comfortably.
Sustaining immense energetic constructs
Once you’ve gotten this far in your practice, it becomes very possible to create constructs that are miles in diameter. Maybe even hundreds of miles. However, once you get this large, visualization stops being effective, even as a mould. This is because of the relative frame of reference. It is difficult for the human mind to accurately depict and maintain the amount of information required, even for someone with hyperphantasia. For this, you'll rely solely on energetic senses. Making constructs this large will require all of the senses. In order to maintain them during construction, they’ll need to be fed energy and maintained in concentration the entire time before it is anchored. To do this, create several conduits to the wellsource to points on the construct that are connected to the highest number of variables and create a circuit within the construct.
Advanced Energetic Diffusion
Energy naturally has a short half-life, however if an energy is anchored but the anchor isn’t known or located it is still possible to diffuse the construct, thoughtform, or spirit. Like the metaphor above for manipulating properties, imagine the construct as a woven fabric. In all fabrics there are some threads that hold it together the most. It is possible to remove the property that is the equivalent of the hem of a fabric and allow the construct to dissipate over time; or, several threads can be removed until the fabric isn't a fabric anymore. Doing this to a construct causes the energetic composites involved to equalize into the environment. The more it unravels, the faster it dissipates. This also works on thoughtforms or spirits as well. Both of these are composed of energetic constructs and therefore can be unraveled.
In the next post, Advanced Energy Work Part II, I'll be discussing multi-dimensional energy work, and covering topics required for advanced warding.

Understanding Psychic Abilities
Psychic abilities often refer to skills or talents enabling individuals to gain information or influence beyond the scope of human senses or scientific understanding. Such capacities are frequently posited to transcend the boundaries of time, space, and matter. While they can be classified into various types – such as clairvoyance (perceiving remote or hidden information), telepathy (transmitting thoughts), and precognition (predicting future events) – the mechanisms underpinning these phenomena remain the subjects of controversy and speculation.
 Historical Perspectives
Throughout history, diverse cultures have recognized and integrated the notion of psychic phenomena into their daily lives and spiritual practices. From ancient civilizations like the Greeks and Egyptians, who consulted oracles and seers for guidance, to indigenous tribes who believed in the power of shamans and medicine people to communicate with forces beyond human perception, psychic phenomena have occupied a significant niche.
In the medieval period, psychic occurrences were often intertwined with religious or supernatural explanations. Those who claimed to possess these abilities were either revered as divinely gifted or, conversely, vilified and persecuted for heresy or witchcraft. Notably, the Renaissance and Enlightenment periods began to scrutinize such claims, emphasizing empirical evidence and rationality. This shift led to a decline in the public acceptance of psychic phenomena as mere superstitions or the result of charlatanism.
Modern Interpretations
In contemporary times, the debate surrounding psychic phenomena has bifurcated into two dominant perspectives: the skeptics and the proponents.
Skeptics, often armed with a scientific background, posit that claims of psychic abilities lack empirical evidence. They argue that such phenomena can be explained by cognitive biases, logical fallacies, or mere coincidences. For instance, the confirmation bias might lead someone to remember only the instances when a psychic prediction was accurate and dismiss those when it was not. They also highlight instances where purported psychics have been exposed as frauds, using tactics such as cold reading to feign genuine abilities.
On the contrary, proponents assert that the existence of psychic abilities is a genuine and untapped dimension of human potential. While acknowledging that fraudulence exists, they argue that there are genuine cases that defy conventional explanations. They contend that science, in its current form, may not be adequately equipped to understand or measure these phenomena. Some postulate that advancements in neuroscience, consciousness research, or quantum physics might one day elucidate the enigmatic nature of psychic abilities.

Types of Psychic Abilities
Clairvoyance
Derived from the French words "clair" (clear) and "voir" (to see), clairvoyance essentially translates to "clear seeing." Clairvoyance refers to the claimed ability to gather information about an object, person, location, or event without any known humanly means. This phenomenon is often described as receiving visual information in the form of symbols, colors, or visions. Throughout history, many societies have revered clairvoyants as powerful figures. In some cultures, they played significant roles as advisors to rulers or as mediators between the physical and unseen worlds. Contemporary society, with its emphasis on empirical evidence, often views clairvoyance with skepticism, yet there remains a persistent cultural fascination with this ability. In many spiritual traditions, clairvoyance is seen as a heightened state of consciousness, a gift or a skill that connects the individual with higher dimensions or spiritual guides.
Telepathy
Stemming from the Greek words "tele" (distant) and "pathos" (feeling), telepathy can be understood as "distant feeling." Telepathy is the purported transmission of information between individuals without using known human sensory channels or physical interaction. It encompasses the transfer of emotions, thoughts, or even complex ideas. From ancient legends to modern science fiction, telepathic communication has captured the human imagination. While empirical research in telepathy remains inconclusive, it is a recurrent theme in popular media, underscoring the human yearning for connection. Mystic traditions may regard telepathy as a manifestation of universal interconnectedness, suggesting that at a deep level, all consciousness is one and separateness is an illusion.
Precognition
The term derives from the Latin "prae" (before) and "cognitio" (getting to know), effectively meaning "foreknowledge." Precognition involves knowledge or perception of future events before they occur, without any logical basis for such foreknowledge. This might manifest as dreams, feelings, or intuitions. Predicting the future has been a universal human pursuit, with precognitives often serving crucial societal roles as prophets, oracles, or seers. However, contemporary views on precognition are split, with skeptics pointing to cognitive biases as explanations. Many mystical traditions suggest that time, as humans perceive it, is an illusion. In such a framework, precognition might be understood as accessing timeless dimensions where past, present, and future coexist.
Claircognizance
"Clair" (clear) combined with "cognizance" (knowledge) indicates "clear knowledge." Claircognizance denotes an intuitive ability to just "know" something, without any logical basis or prior information. Individuals with this ability might suddenly know facts, insights, or understandings without knowing how they acquired them. The concept of inherent knowledge or insight is recognized in many cultures, often attributed to divine inspiration or profound intuition. However, in a world valuing empirical data, such spontaneous knowledge can be met with skepticism. Some spiritual interpretations posit that claircognizance is a connection to universal knowledge or the collective consciousness, suggesting an innate ability to tap into an omniscient source.
Clairsentience
Combining "clair" (clear) with "sentience" (feeling), clairsentience means "clear feeling." Clairsentience refers to the ability to physically feel or emotionally sense the energy or emotions of people, places, or events. This might manifest as gut feelings, sudden mood changes, or physical sensations. Empathy and heightened sensitivity have been recognized across various cultures. While some view clairsentience as a heightened form of empathy, others approach it with caution due to its inexplicable nature. Within mystical traditions, clairsentience might be seen as an enhanced sensitivity to the energy or vibrations of the universe, reflecting a deep interconnectedness of all things.
Compulsion
Derived from Latin "compellere," meaning "to drive or push together." Compulsion, in this context, refers to the purported ability to influence another's thoughts or actions without overt persuasion or physical interference. Historical records are replete with tales of individuals who held sway over masses, their compelling presence seemingly altering the will of others. Modern interpretations often approach such claims with caution, exploring psychological mechanisms behind suggestibility. Some spiritual interpretations suggest compulsion is an exertion of one's will or energy over another, tapping into the subtle dynamics of interwoven consciousness.

Common Misconceptions
While psychic abilities have been recognized and debated for centuries, modern society often conflates them with broader supernatural phenomena. To distinguish: psychic abilities are often defined as potential innate capacities of the human psyche, whereas supernatural phenomena encompass a broader range of occurrences that supposedly defy natural laws. An example of such a conflation might be equating clairvoyance solely with ghostly apparitions or haunted locales, limiting the nuanced understanding of psychic phenomena. This conflation can be attributed to myriad factors, including cultural narratives, folklore, and limited exposure to diverse interpretations of psychic occurrences.
The Hollywood Influence
The entertainment industry, particularly Hollywood, has significantly molded perceptions of psychic phenomena. From sensationalized depictions of mediums speaking to the departed in horror movies to superheroes with telepathic abilities saving the world, these portrayals often prioritize spectacle over accuracy. While they capture the imagination and offer thrilling narratives, they may distort or exaggerate the nuances of genuine psychic experiences.
Hollywood's penchant for dramatization means that psychic abilities are frequently portrayed with an added layer of spectacle, potentially leading the general populace to harbor unrealistic or skewed expectations. For instance, telepathy in movies might be showcased as characters having fullblown conversations without speaking, while actual anecdotal accounts might reference fleeting impressions or emotions.
Skepticism and Belief
Public opinion on psychic phenomena is polarized, with skeptics and believers often at odds. Skeptics caution against gullibility, pointing to instances of fraud, the influence of cognitive biases, and the lack of empirical evidence as reasons for disbelief. On the other hand, staunch believers might dismiss skeptics as close minded or overly analytical.
However, a nuanced view acknowledges that both skepticism and belief have their merits. Blind skepticism might close one off to exploring uncharted territories of human experience, while unbridled belief risks being deceived by charlatans. An informed approach considers available evidence, remains open to possibilities, and constantly seeks deeper understanding, free from dogma.
New Age Influences and How to Avoid Them
The New Age movement, originating in the late 20th century, amalgamates various spiritual and metaphysical beliefs. While it has popularized many esoteric concepts, including some pertaining to psychic phenomena, it often does so without rigorous foundation or context.
To avoid undue New Age influences when exploring psychic phenomena:
Educate Yourself: Delve into historical, cultural, and scientific perspectives on psychic abilities. Understand that the New Age interpretation is just one among many.
Question Sources: Not all literature or speakers on psychic topics are reliable. Discern between those who have done comprehensive research and those echoing popular yet shallow narratives.
Practice Discernment: Be wary of commercialized aspects of the New Age movement, such as workshops or products that promise quick psychic awakenings without any substantial groundwork.
Theosophical Influences and How to Avoid Them
The Theosophical Society, founded in the 19th century, aimed to explore, study, and disseminate knowledge about the mystical and unknown. However, its interpretations of psychic and spiritual phenomena are specific to its doctrine.
To steer clear of Theosophical biases:
Broaden Your Horizon: While Theosophy offers a rich tapestry of esoteric thought, it's essential to explore other cultural, philosophical, and spiritual perspectives on psychic phenomena.
Recognize Distinctive Theosophical Concepts: By identifying core Theosophical tenets, one can differentiate them from other psychic or spiritual beliefs.
Engage in Open Discussion: Interacting with a diverse group of thinkers, researchers, and practitioners can help in discerning Theosophical influences from more universal or varied interpretations.

The Science Behind Psychic Abilities
Psychic phenomena have long captured human curiosity, leading to extensive investigations, both informal and academic. Over the past century, numerous institutions have endeavored to study psychic abilities under controlled conditions. These include efforts by prominent universities and independent research bodies.
One well-documented approach has been the use of Zener cards — a set of five symbols (circle, cross, waves, square, star) — to test for extrasensory perception (ESP). Participants predict the sequence of cards, and results are assessed against statistical probabilities to discern any significant deviations suggesting psychic abilities.
Another area of interest has been the study of telepathy, where participants, often in isolated chambers, attempt to transmit or receive thoughts, images, or emotions. Success rates beyond chance levels could, in theory, indicate telepathic capabilities.
Controversies and Criticisms
Despite the extensive body of research, psychic phenomena remain a contentious topic in the scientific community. Some of the primary criticisms include:
Replicability Issues: A foundational principle of science is that experiments should produce consistent results when replicated. Psychic phenomena, however, often lack this consistency, leading many to question their validity.
Methodological Flaws: Critics often point out potential flaws in the design or execution of psychic experiments. These could range from insufficient controls, potential biases, or even fraud.
Statistical Interpretations: While certain psychic studies claim statistical significance, skeptics argue that these could be anomalies or the result of incorrect data interpretation.
Potential Explanations
Given the elusive nature of psychic phenomena, several hypotheses have been proposed, ranging from the purely physiological to the quantum mechanical:
Subconscious Perception: Some suggest that what's perceived as psychic ability might be heightened sensitivity to subconscious cues. This could mean picking up on subtle body language, temperature changes, or even pheromones.
Quantum Mechanics: Some posit that the nonlocality principle in quantum physics, where particles can be interconnected over vast distances, might provide a framework for understanding psychic interconnections. Though this argument tends to be provided by those who do not understand quantum theory.
Unified Field Theory: Drawing from physics, some speculate that a yet to be discovered unified field might explain the interconnectedness of consciousness. Though this argument also tends to be provided by those who do not understand quantum theory.

Potential Biases Within Scientific Approaches
While the scientific method prides itself on objectivity, biases can infiltrate any field of study, including investigations into psychic phenomena:
Confirmation Bias: Researchers, like all individuals, can unconsciously favor data that aligns with their preexisting beliefs, potentially overlooking data that contradicts their hypotheses.
Publication Bias: Studies producing positive or sensational results are often more likely to be published than those with null or negative findings. This can skew the available literature and public perception.
Cultural and Historical Biases: Western scientific paradigms, rooted in materialism, might inherently dismiss phenomena that don't fit within this framework, whereas other cultures might approach the same phenomena differently.
It's crucial to approach psychic research with an awareness of these biases, ensuring comprehensive and balanced investigations.
Comfort with Paranormal Explanations and Experiences
Across the globe, individuals vary in their comfort levels with paranormal explanations. For some, a spiritual or mystical interpretation of an event is natural and enriching. For others, such interpretations might provoke discomfort, skepticism, or even fear.
Some cultures have rich traditions of spiritual and mystical experiences, making paranormal explanations more accepted and integrated. Direct personal experiences with phenomena that defy conventional explanations can either enhance comfort with the paranormal or, paradoxically, provoke greater skepticism. Awareness and understanding of various phenomena, whether through formal education, personal research, or exposure to diverse viewpoints, can influence one's comfort levels.

Developing Psychic Abilities: A Comprehensive Approach
The initial phase in understanding psychic abilities requires identifying subtle indications that point towards their potential presence. Historically, various cultures have believed in the capability of certain individuals to perceive information hidden from the regular senses. These potential indicators might include:
Heightened Sensitivity: Some individuals report a heightened sensitivity to their surroundings, especially in terms of emotions and energies. They often feel strong empathic connections, allowing them to sense the emotions and moods of those around them, even if subtly expressed.
Frequent Déjà vu: The sensation of having experienced something previously, even when encountering it for the first time, may indicate a potential psychic inclination. While this phenomenon can be explained by various neurological processes, some interpret it as a sign of precognitive ability.
Predictive Dreams: Though dreams often arise from the subconscious mind processing daily events, some individuals note dreams that appear to foretell future events. While not always accurate, these dreams' predictive nature often stands out due to its specificity and detail.
Practice Techniques
To nurture psychic abilities, one must employ certain techniques and exercises that are designed to enhance these potential faculties. Here are some scientificallyacknowledged methods that might be beneficial:
Meditation: Meditation is a tool that aids in focusing the mind and building awareness of one's thoughts and surroundings. By practicing regular meditation, individuals can develop a heightened sense of intuition and possibly tap into deeper levels of perception.
Mindfulness: Being present in the moment can help individuals become more attuned to their surroundings and the subtle energies therein. Practicing mindfulness, like meditation, can be a foundation for honing psychic skills by fostering a keen awareness of the world around us.
Exposure to Varied Stimuli: Engaging with diverse environments, cultures, and experiences can sharpen one's intuitive skills. By exposing oneself to a broad array of stimuli, it becomes easier to identify patterns and connections that might not be immediately obvious.
Consistent Training
Consistency is vital when cultivating any skill, and the development of psychic abilities is no exception. Regular practice and a commitment to growth are imperative. Keeping a record of experiences, feelings, and intuitions can be beneficial. Over time, patterns may emerge, providing insights into the development and accuracy of psychic abilities.
Seeking feedback from trusted sources helps in gauging the accuracy of one's psychic perceptions and offers opportunities for refinement. Engaging with literature and scholarly articles on topics like parapsychology, cognitive science, and neurology can provide a rounded understanding and facilitate better practices.
Identifying Cognitive Bias
While exploring psychic abilities, it is crucial to be aware of cognitive biases. These are systematic patterns of deviation from rationality in judgment, where individuals create their own subjective reality from their perception. Examples include:
Confirmation Bias: The tendency to seek, interpret, and remember information in a way that confirms one's preconceptions. In the context of psychic abilities, this might manifest as remembering only accurate predictions while disregarding inaccuracies.
Apophenia: The human tendency to perceive meaningful patterns within random data. This could lead individuals to believe they've identified significant psychic insights when, in fact, they're drawing connections from unrelated events.
Identifying Mental Illness Symptoms that Seem Like Psychic Abilities
It is essential to differentiate between genuine psychic experiences and symptoms of mental illnesses. Some symptoms can mimic psychic phenomena, such as:
Hallucinations: These are sensory experiences in which a person can hear, see, smell, taste, or feel something that isn't there. While some might interpret these as psychic visions or messages, they are often associated with conditions like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.
Delusions: Strongly held beliefs despite evidence to the contrary. For example, believing that one has a unique ability to predict events or read minds, when, in reality, evidence does not support these claims.
Hyperactivity and Racing Thoughts: Conditions such as bipolar disorder can lead to periods of hyperactivity and rapidly changing thoughts, which can be misconstrued as psychic energy or heightened intuition.
If you or someone you know shows symptoms of mental illness, you can find a list of assistance and services at the end of THIS article.

Psychic Abilities and the Mind
The intricate network of the human brain, with its myriad neural connections, governs how we think, act, and perceive the world. Central to our understanding of psychic abilities is the role of cognitive functions. These are the mental processes that allow us to carry out tasks, make decisions, and interpret the world around us. A cornerstone of cognition, memory allows us to store and retrieve information from the past. It's been posited that individuals who claim to have psychic abilities might have an enhanced or different utilization of memory, allowing them to recall events or details others might overlook.
The capacity to concentrate on specific stimuli or events in our environment is critical for any psychic exploration. An acute sense of attention might enable some individuals to pick up on subtle cues or information generally unnoticed by the average person. Processing Speed is the time it takes for an individual to interpret and respond to stimuli. A heightened processing speed might allow for faster interpretation of sensory input, which some argue could be linked to certain psychic phenomena.
Role of Subconscious
The subconscious mind, operating below the level of conscious awareness, is a vast reservoir of thoughts, memories, and feelings. Its role in psychic abilities is a topic of significant interest.
Our subconscious continuously processes information, even when we are not actively thinking about it. These processes can lead to sudden insights or "gut feelings" that seem to come out of nowhere but might, in reality, be the result of the subconscious working behind the scenes. While dreams are a regular part of the human experience, some propose that they can serve as a conduit for psychic information. The subconscious mind, active during dreaming, might present information in symbolic or direct ways that could be interpreted as precognitive or clairvoyant insights. The subconscious mind plays a pivotal role in our emotional responses. Some individuals claim to "feel" others' emotions, suggesting that their subconscious minds might be more attuned to emotional stimuli from the environment.
Perception and Intuition
At the intersection of psychic abilities and the mind lies the realm of perception and intuition. These faculties determine how we interpret the world and react to it, and they play a potentially significant role in psychic phenomena.
Enhanced Sensory Perception: Some who claim psychic abilities report a heightened sense of sight, hearing, or other senses. This enhanced perception allows them to detect stimuli that others might miss, potentially leading to insights that seem psychic in nature.
Gut Feelings: Intuition, often described as a "gut feeling," is a form of innate understanding or knowledge without the need for conscious reasoning. While everyone experiences intuition to some degree, its role in psychic abilities might be more pronounced. This intuitive sense might be more developed or refined in some individuals, leading to perceptions that are out of the ordinary.
Pattern Recognition: Humans are naturally inclined to seek patterns in the environment, a trait that has evolutionary advantages. However, some propose that those with psychic inclinations might have an enhanced ability for pattern recognition, allowing them to see connections or insights that might elude others.

Ethical Considerations in the Exploration of Psychic Abilities
The exploration of psychic abilities is not merely an introspective journey; it often intersects with the lives of others, especially when abilities are employed to provide insights or guidance. Herein lies the critical juncture of ethical use versus misuse.
Objective Approach: It is paramount for individuals claiming to possess psychic abilities to approach every situation with an objective mindset. Allowing biases or personal beliefs to interfere can lead to skewed interpretations, which might misguide those seeking counsel.
Financial Exploitation: With the commercialization of psychic readings and related services, there is a risk of financial exploitation. Ethical practitioners should be transparent about their services' costs and avoid exorbitant fees or manipulative tactics that compel repeated visits.
False Claims: Authenticity and truthfulness are fundamental. Individuals should refrain from making unsubstantiated claims about their abilities or the results they can achieve, as this can mislead and potentially harm others.
Respecting Privacy
Delving into the personal lives of others, whether intentionally or inadvertently, comes with significant ethical implications.
Unsolicited Readings: It is ethically questionable to provide unsolicited readings or insights into another person's life or situation. Even if one believes they have valuable information, it is essential to respect boundaries and only offer insights when explicitly asked.
Confidentiality: Similar to medical or therapeutic professions, individuals offering psychic services should maintain strict confidentiality. People's personal information, emotions, and situations should never be divulged without explicit consent.
Consideration of Potential Harm
The potential repercussions of psychic readings or interventions are not always immediately apparent. Therefore, a deep sense of responsibility and foresight is required.
Emotional Impact: Interactions can leave a lasting emotional imprint. Whether the information shared is positive or negative, practitioners must be sensitive to how it might affect an individual emotionally and mentally.
Dependency: There's a potential risk of individuals becoming overly reliant on psychic insights, sidelining their own judgment or decisionmaking abilities. Ethical practitioners should encourage autonomy and personal growth rather than fostering dependency.
Physical Actions: On rare occasions, insights or predictions might prompt individuals to take specific actions in their lives. It's crucial for those with psychic inclinations to understand the weight of their words and the potential physical ramifications they might have on others.

Psychic Abilities in Different Cultures
The concept of psychic abilities, while interpreted differently, exists in some form across various global cultures. Each culture's perspective provides a unique lens through which to understand and appreciate these phenomena.
Eastern Perspectives
In many Eastern traditions, psychic abilities are often interwoven with spiritual and philosophical systems.
Buddhism: Within Buddhist traditions, especially in Tibetan Buddhism*, there are references to "siddhis," which are supernormal powers attained through meditation and spiritual practice. These can range from clairvoyance to precognition. While these abilities are acknowledged, they're often considered secondary to the ultimate goal of enlightenment.
Hinduism*: Ancient Hindu scriptures, particularly the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, detail various psychic abilities termed "vibhuti." These abilities are said to emerge as one progresses along the path of yoga. However, they're treated with caution and are not the primary focus of spiritual development.
Daoism*: In Daoist traditions of China, psychic phenomena might be attributed to the harnessing of "qi" or vital energy. Daoist practitioners often engage in exercises to cultivate and balance qi, which in turn can lead to heightened abilities.
Western Perspectives
The Western world, influenced by a mix of JudeoChristian beliefs, scientific rationalism, and GrecoRoman philosophies, has its own take on psychic phenomena.
Ancient Greece: Oracles, like the famed Oracle of Delphi, played essential roles in ancient Greek society. These priestesses were believed to possess the ability to communicate with the gods and offer prophecies.
Medieval Europe: During the Middle Ages, individuals who claimed to have psychic abilities or other supernatural powers often faced persecution, associated with witchcraft and heresy.
Modern Era: With the rise of spiritualism in the 19th and 20th centuries, psychic abilities gained renewed interest. While often met with skepticism, especially from the scientific community, there remains a segment of the Western population that believes in and seeks out psychic experiences.
Indigenous Beliefs
Indigenous American Cultures: Among the Navajo*, there are individuals known as "hand tremblers" who are believed to diagnose illnesses or predict events. Similarly, the Lakota Sioux have "heyokas" or sacred clowns, who act in ways contrary to societal norms and offer unique insights.
Aboriginal Australians*: Dreamtime stories and spiritual beliefs play a central role in Aboriginal culture. The concept of "Dreaming" refers to both the ancient stories of creation and the personal dreamjourney of an individual, which can offer guidance and insights.
Shamanic Cultures of Siberia*: The term "shaman" originates from the Tungusic peoples of Siberia. Shamans in these cultures serve as intermediaries between the human and spirit worlds, accessing knowledge and healing through altered states of consciousness.
Maori of New Zealand*: The Maori have "tohunga," experts in specific areas, including those who interpret signs, dreams, and omens. They play a crucial role in guiding societal decisions and understanding the world.
African Cultures: Among the Dagara* of West Africa, there are individuals recognized as having a unique connection to the spirit world, often identified at a young age and trained to serve the community. Similarly, the Zulu* of South Africa have the "sangoma," traditional healers who diagnose and treat illnesses and communicate with ancestors.

Visualization: Effective implementation
Visualization, Reiki, & Fascism
What is Visualization?
Visualization is the ability to imagine shapes and images. The ability to do this exists on a spectrum. 1%-3% of people have what is called aphantasia, and about the same percentages have what is called hyperphantasia. Aphantasia is when an individual finds it difficult or near impossible to create mental images. Hyperphantasia is when an individual can visualize so thoroughly that it is almost difficult to differentiate between the visualization and reality. In most cases, the difference is in the ability to visualize three dimensional forms and rotate them in space.
What is Conceptualization?
Conceptualization is to take an idea or understanding of a concept and project it into a workable application. Whether the application is social, creative, intellectual, and/or physical is irrelevant. This process is the key mechanism to coming to thorough understandings of abstract concepts like in math. The ability to conceptualize is the primary bridge between memorization and understanding. Like visualization, there is a disorder that prevents some people from conceptualizing. This disorder is called Ideational apraxia. .0001%-.01% of the population is affected by this disorder, significantly less than those with aphantasia. Statistically, there is roughly less than 0.000001%-0.000000001% chance that these two disorders will occur in a single individual.
Which is more useful in magic?
In the grand scheme, conceptualization as it is the bridge to understanding and therefore creativity and innovation. Visualization is useful for when a plan has been drafted, but not so much for creating a plan. This is especially evident in practices such as conscious energy work.
Applications of both in Magic.
It is a very common trend within the witchcraft community to lean HARD on visualization. This is not only ableist, but also not inherently magical. Visualization is a tool. Like all tools in witchcraft, they aren't magic, they are used to channel or process spells. Visualization is most effective in the planning phase of spellwork. What is the ritual going to look like? How is the process going to aid in maintaining headspace? What are the energetic constructs going to look like? If you had to assign a visual representation to energy work, how would it look? All of this should be done before a working.
Conceptualization is extremely beneficial for performing mental experiments on the magical mechanisms that will be manifesting your magic. Conceptualization can contain very complex ideas within a single mental dimension. This allows for the seamless monitoring the empirical and logical comparisons. An example of this is taking a concept found within STEM and finding ways for it to be applicable in witchcraft. Like applying topology to energy work, spirit work, and astral projection. Building off of complex understandings of concepts within our universe also allows the practitioner to be more aware of cognitive bias, something visualization actually causes.
A skilled practitioner employs both for spellwork and developing their craft. Building a solid conceptualization of an idea also allows for a more complete visualization for those who are able. Realizing that neither of them are magic and are not viable ways of spell casting is the first step to branching out of  fanciful magics like those found in Wicca and modern Tradcraft, a lot of which is very prevalent on the internet. Magic is aggregate and personal. It is a skill, not a talent. Some learn the skill at a young age when they are more open to it. Magic is never complete, and neither is our understanding or applications of it. The possibilities are endless. There are only two limitations: the laws of physics and yourself, disabilities included.
