Good news, fellow artists! Nightshade has finally been released by the UChicago team! If you aren't aware of what Nightshade is, it's a tool that helps poison AI datasets so that the model "sees" something different from what an image actually depicts. It's the same team that released Glaze, which helps protect art against style mimicry (aka those finetuned models that try to rip off a specific artist). As they show in their paper, even a hundred poisoned concepts make a huge difference.

(Reminder that glazing your art is more important than nighshading it, as they mention in their tweets above, so when you're uploading your art, try to glaze it at the very least.)

Hey, did your problem with your stolen art on t-shirts and merch reach any solution?

Not really. I managed to have my designs removed from the main site, Melodyprints, and some artists were able to do the same (not everyone has responded yet), but new products with the same stolen design keep being added on Etsy, sometimes by the same shops over and over (like AliTrustCreations, for example, don't buy from them !). Despite the numerous infringements, Etsy refuses to close the thieves shops. Apparently, PDFs with stolen designs have been sold, which would explain the rapid spread. And don't even get me started on Aliexpress ! Unfortunately, it's become my daily routine to report online shops every morning :/

I’ve tried not to make a post like this but I’ve reached a critical point and it can’t be helped.

I know I’ve been absent from social media for a while and the truth is I’ve just been too stressed out to be social. The reason being money. And my severe lack of it.

I’m at risk of going into foreclosure on my house because I haven’t been able to afford my mortgage payments. I’m behind on utilities. And it’s a rare day when I have food in the house. I’m diabetic. Not having food is bad. Very bad.

As most of you know, I’m also disabled and unable to work. Which means my husband is the only source of income. And that income isn’t enough.

I’m embarrassed to ask, but I’m also desperate. I need help. Please. Even $1 or sharing this post means a great deal and I would be immensely grateful. I’m honestly not above begging at this point if it helps keep a roof over my son’s head.

All of this was prompted by ONE quote from the game where Raphael says "adieu" to the player even though French/France does not exist in Faerun. So the only logical explanation is our little princeling would use Dimension Doors to go across universes of course!

BG3 dream

Last night, I had one of the strangest dreams, about Baldur's Gate 3, and it wasn't even about Astarion (a shame, trully) ! I dreamt about Raphael, that magnificient yet insufferable bastard. I was lying in his bed (it's not what you think ^^;) and he was there, calmly reading a book in his cambion form (don't ask me how he fit in the bed, but in the dream, it worked) and I kept sticking my freezing feet on him to warm up, annoying him to no end. I even remember making a lame joke about his infernal heat, but it didn't make him laugh at all XD Apparently, annoying him in the game is not enough haha I love him ^^

The same Astarion artwork continues to be stolen time and time again by unscrupulous shops (I've filed over 20 complaints, just on Etsy alone). One particular independent shop refuses to remove the items using my artwork, ignores my messages, and deletes all my comments warning buyers.

Here's the specific artwork, my original fanart, and the low-quality and insolent modification to turn it into a shoddy sweatshirt and t-shirt design. Which is promoted on TikTok !

This has to stop.

Sharing your work on the internet, or even just sharing your passion, has become a nightmare for artists and creators. We already have enough to deal with in the face of AI threats and platforms like Aliexpress; now we have to manage a surge in theft as well.

This shop is also appropriating other artworks from the BG3 fandom.

I'm seeking your help in identifying the authors of these artworks so that I can notify them.

I'm also currently in contact with a specialized attorney because I've had enough.

The cup is full, and I want to be able to showcase my drawings without enriching thieves. It's particularly painful during this period of economic crisis, where, like many others, I'm struggling to make ends meet, to feed my two young kids.

Yeah, I think I'll end up doing it. Especially since my drawings are regularly stolen by Etsy or Redbubble shops (I'm filling out report forms every week lately, it's demoralizing, I can't imagine how hellish it must be for popular artists), I think it would be better for me to reopen my own shop.

I would like to make some stickers too ^^ (if my finances allow it... ha ha.. ^^;;)
