Lae'zel's character and her entire situation at the beginning of the game becomes so much more funny when you find out she's 22. It makes so much sense. Imagine you're 22 and you're exposed to this dangerous toxin or chemical or something - but not to worry, you learnt that this can be easily fixed, you just need to dial 911 real quick. Common knowledge. Everyone knows that. You learnt that in kindergarten, it's up there with fire alarm drills.
But the people you're stuck with have no concept of modern medicine and when you say "let's go to the hospital" they will say shit like "i think they kill people at the hospital" and "we should ask this swamp lady" or "this guy over there told me about this homoeopathic healer kind of guy but he got abducted" or "this random bard wants to help" and "I'm not going to dial 911 because I don't want the government to know my home address" or "maybe we should consider a deal with Satan". And then a bunch of them KEEP consuming the chemical because it makes them "stronger". One guy might explode for unrelated reasons. You have a few days before this situation is getting critical and suddenly they're solving crime and doing general charity for the community.
And FOR SOME REASON you still try to help these idiots and you STILL want to help them get the cure even though they all keep insisting the "doctors" at the "hospital" might try to "kill them" and they don't have insurance. And you keep telling them to just. go. to. the. hospital. before the time runs out and you all die very horribly of a very treatable condition.
And also you're 22 in a foreign country and you're responsible for shepherding this gaggle of idiots who are all ranging anywhere from 24 to 240 years old.

I need minors to learn how to lie online again. Your name is Derek, you’re 25 and work in accounting now. Please for your own safety learn how to fucking lie. And if you don’t want to lie, then don’t put your age anywhere. Don’t even say whether you’re a minor or not. It is perfectly easy to avoid adult spaces without signposting that you are doing so because you’re a child.
Stating your age doesn’t protect you this only makes you a target.

I vented a bit about this on Bluesky, but the rampant use of AI covers, as well as the encouragement to use it in the forums, is my biggest hang up with ScribbleHub.
Generally speaking, if I see a book for sale with AI cover art, I don't read/buy it.
On ScribbleHub, so many books have AI covers, it's hard to put that into practice if I want to be a social and active reader (i.e. your own stories get more readers and comments if you yourself comment).
I guess I'm just conflicted bc I am reading things on ScribbleHub with GenAI covers and feel hypocritical. Xd

i saw a post on twitter by a european saying americans are fake for their random compliments to strangers and their general cheery demeanor and like no. no no no you don’t understand. if you get a random compliment from an american on the street about your outfit or whatever, that is 100% genuine. we mean it. we aren’t lying we are making a small but fleeting connection with you because our lives are shitty but the human condition is enduring. oh god i’m clutching my chest

i don't think enough people who haven't watched danny phantom know about dan. i don't even think we talk about it enough. there's seriously a storyline where all of danny's family and loved ones are tied to a fast food restaurant and they blow up and die. they get fucking murdered, on purpose. and it cuts to the future and he'd gone full ballistic and destroyed the entire world. his ghost half killed his human half and then he became a super villain fueled by grief and evil and he nuked the whole world with his ghost powers. like that was really something that happened in the 2004 Y7 Nickelodeon children's show Danny Phantom and i don't think enough people know about that. if you ever wondered why the danny phantom fandom is Like That(tm) please believe me when i say the show is actually directly responsible for it

➡️ Content warnings on fiction are a courtesy.
➡️ Not every medium of fiction and storytelling has or is expected to have content warnings or extensive tagging.
➡️ Print novels do not traditionally warn for content in any way.
➡️ Until AO3 came along, fanfiction did not traditionally warn for content in any significant way.
➡️ An author is only obligated to warn for content to the degree mandated by the format they publish their fiction on.
➡️ Content warnings beyond the minimum are a courtesy, not an obligation.
➡️ 'Creator chose not to warn' is a valid tag that authors are allowed to use on AO3. It means there could be anything in there and you have accepted the risk. 'May contain peanuts!'
➡️ Writers are allowed to use 'Creator chose not to warn' for any reason, including to maintain surprise and avoid spoilers.
➡️ 'Creator chose not to warn' is not the same thing as 'no archive warnings apply'.
➡️ It is your responsibility to protect yourself and close a book, or hit the back button if you find something in fiction that you're reading that upsets you.
➡️ You are responsible for protecting yourself from fiction that causes you discomfort.

"You are also better-crafted than me, oynon. Take a look at us-a closer look. You are probably right about me, I'm not a toy to keep-unbending, leather-made, old, and shabby. You, on the other hand, are an entirely different thing! I'm surprised they're playing such a bad game with you…"

funny thing is that I've been thinking about burda as the macbeths ever since seeing the play last year, and it very recently developed into an au where there's no plague it's just Artemy and Daniil doing murder (Clara is Macduff, literally not born lmao) sadly I have way too many writing wips to get to that anytime soon
