-------
Sinners couldn’t have children in Hell. It was common knowledge. So, an actual child running around hell was rare.
For a child to be there, they had to be a Hellborn or…the most rare choice, they were a sinner themselves.
There were some that took in the rare little sinners. However, there were a few that continued to wander the streets. Alone and helpless. It was how (Y/N) got into the situation they were in.
Ducking between legs and slipping through the crowd, their breath came out quickly as they looked back to see their pursuer still following, but falling behind. They needed to hide. Alleys were obvious and usually, more trouble than they were worth, inside another building was even more reckless.
Then they spotted hedges surrounding a large home. The big bushes might be dying, but it would be enough to slip into. Quickly, they slipped through the crowd, diving through the hedge to hide beyond it. On the other side, the large home stood in its glory along with a neglected garden in front of it.
Holding their breath, they watched the hedge, waiting to see if their pursuer followed but breathed with relief when a minute passed and the hedge didn’t move from any disturbance. They waited a few more minutes before they’d make their hasty escape from the land they had stumbled upon. Looking around, (Y/N) could imagine how beautiful the garden might have once been.
The pretty colors and life that would have flourished in the dark place. There was one living plant, making them wonder slightly closer in curiosity. A large tree that still stood…
“You’re trespassing.” A voice spoke behind them.
The small child, jumped, giving a small scream as they turned, clutching onto the stolen goods they had in their arms. Behind them, a man with pale white skin, red cheeks, and hair hiding under a large hat looked down at them with crossed arms.
Lucifer stared at the small sinner. Their form was one of a wolf’s, their ears currently pointed back and tail pressed close to them as they stared up at him in fear. In their arms, he spotted a few bits of food. Bread, cans of something, and…apples. He stood straighter.
“Did you take from the tree?” He growled.
“W-What?” They looked at the tree seeing it was indeed an apple tree. “No! I’m-I’m sorry sir! I-I didn’t mean to come h-here.”
He scoffed. “Then what are you doing here if not to steal?”
“I-I was hiding…” Tears welled up in their eyes and Lucifer looked confused. “I-I’m sorry, I did st-steal, but not from you…I st-stole this food from the store.”
Now Lucifer was utterly baffled. They were confessing their wrongdoings? Why weren’t they lying, they’re a sinner. He stared at their terrified form trying to figure them out. When he’d seen them from his office window, he'd confidently assumed that they were just a short adult sinner. But…
“How old are you?” He asked.
“…Eight.” They muttered.
He sighed deeply as he looked away from them. An actual child. He knew there were children, sinners, he’d just never met one during his centuries, not that he went out much to have the chance to meet one.
“Where are your parents or the people taking care of you?” He huffed.
They looked around, sputtering. “I, um-Well I—”
“Any time now.” He waved his hand.
“…I’m-I’m taking care of me.” They muttered.
He once more stood in confusion. They were on their own? But he looked them over again. Ratty, torn clothes, food they stole in their arms, on their own to begin with.
He crossed his arms again, gripping them as he stared at the small child, making them squirm in place.
“Fuck.” He swore under his breath, before walking to the house. “Come on.”
“W-What?” They sputtered.
“Come on, in the house.” He motioned to it as he looked back. “I need to find somewhere to bring you and I don’t know where to start. So come inside so I can figure it out.”
They stared in shock before quickly scampering after him. He sighed as he led them in. He wasn’t fond of sinners by any means. He hated his own subjects. But the father side of him couldn’t just leave a child out on their own to fend for themselves. He’d find somewhere to send them so he could be done with it.
“Thank you, sir.” They muttered.
“Yeah, yeah.” He mumbled.

I had a friend say to me a while back, "Griffin, why can't you play these games like you do when you're on your own? You're actually pretty good and we could always win."
I remembered it as I was playing a game on my own and wanted to talk about it.
My mind was kinda boggled by this question because when I play with friends. It's not that I don't put effort into the game. I still play to win, it's the goal of the game.
But if I'm alone and playing, I'm full focus on the game. It's my only goal is to beat it. So I take things a little more seriously.
But if it's friends, I like to joke around and have fun with the game. There's an extra goal. Yes, we still try to win but we like to joke and have fun! It's a game. It's just not fun when someone goes, god why can't you focus up?
That's not my goal with friends. My goal is to joke with them. If we're just all serious face, that's not my play style with people. That's me alone. It's why I don't like a lot of, strictly competitive against your friends kind of games. I like when we can screw around together.

She gazed at him quietly, frowning silently at him. "...I...I don't know what to say."
"Look, like I said, it's something to Think about. Not something we need to do today. I'm just covering all the options."

She looked at him quietly. "...if Phil died, would you give up me and Tommy, too?"
"No, because I know you two. I know how to handle you. We don't know Blue."

Roo looked at him quietly, sighing. "...what about what Blue wants?'
"Blue's nine and naive. We might need to make that call for her."

"...you don't really think he'd do that, do you...? I mean...she's family." Roo frowned softly at Techno. "I mean, I'll admit I'm not...thrilled...that Phil has another kid now, especially a kid so young, but...where else would she go? We can't dump her in an orphanage."
"I know he wouldn't think about it." He sighed. "And I feel just as bad for the kid. I don't think there was a time I ever saw her away from Ghostbur and now she has to figure that out. And I'm not saying it to be cruel. I'm just saying maybe it needs to be thought about to look into someone who might be able to handle this better."

She glanced over at him, blinking in surprise. "Oh...you think Dad should give Blue up."
"Yeah...look Phil knows as much about her as the rest of us. And if this is the first couple of days, maybe it's something he should think about."

"okay, but...who is that." Roo hummed, glancing at him. "Ghostbur isn't coming back...and I don't think there's another family member to help."
"I mean, finding someone outside the family Roo." He sighed. "I know some people won't like it but it's probably best from everyone."

Roo hummed. "I mean...if he didn't do it, who else could? Ghostbur can't, Wilbur's being a shithead, Tommy's...well, Tommy is as graceful as a hoglin in a china shop."
"I know he doesn't like it, but the best might be for Blue to go to someone else. Someone that could handle it. They'll know as much as we do about her but they'll at least know how to handle some of the things she has going on "

He nodded. "Right. I'll call Tommy, then...she's cuddling with her sheep right now, I'm hoping that helps calm her down..."
Roo shrugged quietly. "I dunno. I...have actually zero idea how Fundy learned about like...most things. I can only assume you spontaneously gain knowledge as you grow."
Phil sighed softly as he climbed the ladder, quietly leaving again.
She glanced over at Techno, shrugging softly.
Techno sighed quietly as he looked where Phil left. "I know Phil wants to help her because she's Ghostbur's kid but I don't think he's the right person to do it. The way Ghostbur was, that's a whole other thing to tackle and if her raised her the same way he thought, it just brings up all those issues."

Phil groaned. "I explained it in an age appropriate way! And she's nine-nine is certainly old enough to have a conversation about how sometimes, people have to go be at rest with the goddess of death." He sighed, massaging his temples. "She's just....extremely sheltered. But if I give her blue, that's only going to get worse, and we'll have to go through this all again except when someone else dies and she's fucking 20."
Roo hummed. "Dibs on not having to do that."
Phil sighed. "Not helpful, dear."
"I unfortunately don't know how to help you with her. I don't even think I've seen the kid sad let alone tell you about how to calm her down. I didn't really spend any time with her and Ghostbur." Techno shrugged.

Roo sat quietly with techno-just...not wanting to be alone. Not...not like she was, before, when-
She blinked as the door opened and Phil called carefully. "Tommy? Are you in here?"
She glanced up, blinking. "Tommy's off somewhere with Wil-why do you need him?"
Phil awkwardly scratched at his neck, carefully moving down the ladder. "Blue was asking some questions and I told her about death-just the basics, I didn't tell her about her dad or anything, but I did say ghostbur was wil's ghost, and...well, she hasn't stopped crying. Tommy seems pretty good with her, so..."
Techno raised an eyebrow as he looked at Phil. "You, not good with kids? Thought I'd never see the day. You could just give her some blue."

Roo shrugged noncommittally, leaning against the wall with a book, opening it quietly.
He hummed quietly before going back to his work silently, just letting the peace wash over both of them.

Phil sighed softly as he held Blue. It was going to be a long walk back...and an even longer day.
Roo carefully slipped downstairs to where Techno was working-not saying anything, just silently perching herself on a spare crafting table.
She just clung to him, the only noise she made was the occasional sniffle.
"You need something?" Techno looked over at her.

"well Blue is why it's so hard this time. If you use Blue to make it go away, you don't learn how to get through it yourself." He hummed softly. "I'm not doing anything to punish you."
Tommy had said the same thing to her once. It was why she didn't have any blue on her. She thought it might be fine. But she hated it. She hated it. Hated it. She never thought she could this sad or even hate something.
It seemed like such a small conversation, but to her it felt like everything. What if she couldn't see anyone in their family again? She thought it would never break but now the thought was stuck in her head and the sadness gripped at her chest.
She hated it.

He gently stroked her back, sighing softly. "Blue...you've been sad before. It passes. You'll be okay."
"It doesn't feel like it will go away." She whimpered quietly. "Blue always takes it away, I don't like it."
