star wars is such a messy fandom, the stories are all over the place in terms of quality and continuity. yet the concept is so appealing to me, i can’t help but get suckered into watching new shows and movies. at this point, with the amount of content that disney churns out, there’s more misses than hits… but my god, the hits are HITS. the clone wars shows, the mandalorian, the bad batch, rogue one, andor. top tier shit. there’s still writers and producers involved in the production that commit to the vision, that write plotlines to piece together the continuity and still pay for the practical visual effects to bring the galaxy to life. ugh, i would kill to be part of the make up or costume design team. bless the artists that came up with baby yoda’s weird cute-ugly puppet. there’s just so much cool shit in star wars, i can ignore all the badly-thought-out parts.

Literally anything by audreycritter on Ao3, she has a ton of gen fics, but especially the Cor Et Cerebrum series, which centers around the Wayne family outside of the capes, and also introduces probably the best original character I’ve ever read. In fact I think I should go reread that series.

finally went to the orchid show at the botanical garden, GOD i love all those funky flowers. they’re so weird, and so varied. there’s flowers that smell like chocolate, and roses, and sweet vanilla. and petals in every shade of purple i can imagine. and flowers the size of my palm, and petals littler than my pinky fingernail. incredible.

i bought an oncidium with tiny red flowers that smells like the sweet pea lotion from bath & body works.

Ugh, just remembered that Watermelon Sugar came out in 2019 and Cake by the Ocean in 2015. I’m not even sure there’s a way to rework the plot around that, not in a way that would satisfy me 😭 I NEED Natsu to embarrass herself in front of boys, it’s an essential part of her character development to have mortifying moments in high school.

what yr is SFOS set in? ik canonically haikyuu is 2012-2013, but SFOS has made references to things past that, so did you change it to like a modern day situation?

When I began writing the fic I was wishy-washy on the setting and kind of framed it during modern-day, but at some point i decided it made more sense to keep to the canonical 2012-13. Thus, we have anachronisms: mostly pop culture references that aren’t a thing in 2012, like the anime that Tendou and Natsu discuss.

I’ll (try to) stick to the canon year for all future chapters, but I find no joy in retconning the dialogue and recurring references from earlier chapters, so I’m leaving it alone for now. Eventually the contradictions will infuriate me enough to force my hand, but not today!

i was so spoiled in high school art class, i had no idea how expensive some of the supplies were. the art teacher was incredible, not only as an educator. i know they argued and fought tooth and nail for the budget they’d get from the school, all for the handful of kids that actually took their class seriously. high quality art supplies makes a huge difference in the work you can do, the ease with which you can do it, and i am forever grateful to mrs. r for thinking that a bunch of clueless teenagers are worth the effort.

Dallas Liu is an amazing Zuko.

Like perfect vibes. He’s angry, he’s whiny, his voice cracks, he drew rage art of Aang and hung it on his wall right after meeting him, he disguised himself by wrapping a scarf over his eye, some random woman beat him up…
