What’s Dipper and Mabel’s relationship like in the au? I don’t imagine being a spy is good for keeping family relationships.

Before they graduated high school, things were pretty swell. You know, despite their parents getting divorced and their father falling on hard times as a result. They supported each other through it. I like to imagine that since Dipper is taking after Stan a bit more - stealing everything in sight, playing the role of a guile hero - that Mabel takes a bit after Ford, and ends up getting into a pretty good college and starts pursuing fashion design. (She'll popularize neon, shoulderpads and legwarmers.) If she had known Dipper had gotten himself into bad enough of a situation that he'd resort to government testing, she would have helped him, really. But Dipper's kind of stubborn and was determined to remain the one protecting her.

Hell, that's probably why he was so okay with what happened on the Death Engine. It's no big deal to die when it's between that or his sister.
