did dumbledore ever check to see if a horcrux could be removed from its container and transferred to a different one or did he jump directly to his 'groom harry for suicide' plan?

Dumbledore is not the root of all evil, despite what the Marauders fandom wants you to believe. The world is not black and white. He was a good person who did great things; his flaws don't negate that.
Blaming everything on Dumbledore only makes your favorite characters look incompetent. The fact is they were fully aware of what they were doing. War is not cut and dry. Sacrifices will be made. If you truly believe in the cause, which they all did, then you must be willing to do that.
And that's exactly what Dumbledore did - with his own life, nonetheless. It wasn't power he was after. It was good.

"JK Rowling's shitty books" 55% of readers of YA novels are now actually adults, a spike that occurred in 2012 - attributed to the Harry Potter series Harry Potter completely changed the publishing industry and spiked demand for long-form books for children. It was previously thought that children didn't have the attention span for longer novels. At the height of Harry Potter mania, there was a 115% increase in middle-grade, longer-form books for children and YA. Publishers were frantically searching for the next long-form YA sensation. No way in hell series' like Divergent, Twilight and The Hunger Games were getting written or picked up by publishers without the precedent set by Harry Potter. Countless other popular media cite HP as the direct inspiration-Avatar: The Last Airbender creators were directly instructed by Nickleodian producers to create "a Harry Potter-esq boy hero" animation. Prior to Harry Potter, children's literature wasn't considered a lucrative genre, it was assumed children just don't read anymore-since the publishing of Harry Potter in 2004, children's literature sales have steadily increased 2% every year, now 52% overall. In comparison, the overall book market has only increased 33%-making children's literature one of the more lucrative genres. She's quite literally the greatest alive to ever do it. Not even gassing her. Those are literally what the stats say. Cope and seethe.

The way I interpreted the introduction of the Marauders was that it was meant to be a cautionary tale for Harry, not an inspiration. Both lived during a time of war (same war, different eras) but to drastically different outcomes and it was all due to their friendships.
The Marauders had attempted to put a bandaid over their fissures (that being their power imbalance, group dynamics, etc.). But, as the war went into full effect, the cracks worsened. Tensions grew. Things were different. They didn't trust each other as easily anymore.
The war got between them. Peter crumbled under the weight of his fear. We can only wonder what would have happened if he felt more supported by his friends and less like a pet. Sirius made it clear where his loyalty lied (the Potters). He suspected Remus as the spy. Remus suspected him. James couldn't mediate under lockdown.
The thing is: war is a fog that clouds your brain. This is acknowledged by both Remus and Sirius when they reunite. They apologize for thinking ill of one another because it wasn't intentional. They were just scared. So, the problem lies in the fact that their foundation was rocky to begin with. James was their pillar.
And you could easily see Harry as the pillar of his group. He's the one they draw inspiration from, after all. But, in reality, each member is holding their own weight. Harry and his friends remain steadfast throughout the war. Loyal to not one but to all.
Even during tough times or moments where they disagree, there was never a doubt about whether they would finish this fight side-by-side. It really goes to show the strength of their bond.

im a big fan of luna... shes so cool and thoughtful like the whole mural she painted in her bedroom ?? how calm she is in every situation but also shes extremely confident in herself + will stand up for what she believes is right without yelling or being brash?? her magic is powerful too like shes an oddball and i love her for it
Luna was introduced at the perfect time in Harry's life.
5th year, Harry was experiencing a profound loneliness. The public and his peers were against him. They called him a liar, blamed him for the resurgence of Voldemort, and ostracized him from the place he had come to consider his home.
He felt hurt by his friends, who hadn't been responding to his letters, and by Dumbledore, who had effectively left him alone that summer to deal with the Dursley's and the attack on him and Dudley alone.
So, going back to Hogwarts, he was disillusioned. Jaded. He was still irritated with everyone, even after Hermione and Ron apologized and explained why they couldn't owl him back.
And, at a time as vulnerable as that, he meets Luna Lovegood. A fellow outcast. She goes to show him the beauty of being alone and demonstrates how euphoric living can be when you aren't constantly seeking out the approval of others.
Most importantly, she was everything weird about the Wizarding World rolled into one. It almost felt like being a kid again.
She is a reminder to both Harry and to the reader that, through all the bad, both experienced and soon to come, good will always prevail. Because magic doesn't have to bring pain. It can bring whimsy, and fun, and it can be an expression of joy.

I'm doing a HP reread (in German because I need to practice my German), and Chamber of Secrets strikes me as prophetic, in a sad bad way. The plot point about Ginny and Riddle's diary is a perfect depiction of internet grooming, written in 1998, when widespread social media use wasn't really a thing yet. Of course grooming relationships, as a form of abuse, already existed, but the possibility of confiding your intimate secrets to a faceless stranger in writing, and then having that stranger control and minipulate you, wasn't remotely as much of a realistic risk to random 11-year-old girls as it is today. Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain is absolutely a moral for the 21st century.
