Sometimes, this community drives me up a wall. Far too much negativity, so uhh, instead of ranting and adding to it, let's chat about happier things. I'm hella excited to go to my first bjd con/ doll meet. I'm going to the san diego doll con with some of my 3d printed dolls. I've been working hard on my two main boys printed out in resins so I can take them to places like that.
I've also remade an old image I did in sims4 of azreal with my new 3d printed doll of him.
Since it's getting colder, I'm gonna have to slow down on the printing until I can get an enclosure. It's really not needed. I could wait, but I dont want the cold to stop me. It's going to be about 100$ to get what i want, but heating an enclosure is easier than heating my workspace.
I also repurposed Azreal's original body for a new boy named Neo Bloom. He still needs clothing, but for now, he's dressed in some pecies I've made that I like.

Reading
So I've got a story in a horror anthology that came out this summer. The editor made mini books for promo at a horror convention she went to, and she gave the writers access to the printable file.
They were pretty much 1/6 scale, so I had only one thought: I had to do pics with Ari! There's nothing a little goth vampire kitty likes better than a lazy afternoon reading horror stories with their favorite plushie.
I hope they're enjoying it!
(If you'd like to read the real thing, it's called Manor of Frights. I'm using an affiliate link. For the record, the real book, unlike the mini, has more than 3 pages. )
Ari (they/them) is a ResinSoul Miao.

They're so cute! My spouse has had a Pixiu for like ten years, and I'm still super fond of the sculpt!
Look who finally arrived!!
They don’t have a name or even a gender yet but they do have some fabulous wings, yellow eyes, and balance problems (join the club, buddy). I wasn’t expecting them yet so they also don’t have hair, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that Chava’s pants aren’t nearly so oversized on them. They’re a Resinsoul Pixiu, and like before I am so happy with the quality and makeup. I like how their body language is more confident than Chava without me even doing anything.
bonus naked doll picture under the cut to show off their nice double joined legs.
I’ll do a proper photo shoot later, this was just to initially show them off. Later we’ll go on an adventure.

More Ari stuff
I haven't really felt like posting here all that much, but thought I'd show off a few more things I made for Ari in the past month or so.
I made some striped tights from a Barbie leggings pattern by SewWhatYvette; I just added feet. No teen 2004-style mall goth can go without striped tights, after all!
And I made this cute layered skull t-shirt! I had to make my own pattern because they're so skinny. I left the edges unfinished because I wanted sort of a DIY look, and I think it worked out pretty well.

She might need more clothes but she's so cute, I always love seeing her!
Chava would really like everyone to know that she (and I) really hates summer. But at least we get to go to the library to work on my time travel murder mystery book.

Ari!
I haven't really been keeping up on here, so I forgot to show y'all my newest doll, a ResinSoul Miao named Ari! Ari (they/them) is a purple vampire kitty, and their style is based off, uh, basically me in 2004 as a teenaged mall goth. My spouse @starheartsdreams did their faceup; their wig is from WSkyStudio and their eyes are from ErsaFloraUSA, both on Etsy.
Outfit I just made!
My first outfit for them, and some close-ups of their face! I got reflective yellow cat eyes for them, which are a little hard to photograph but look SO cool in person.
And a couple shots with the eyes ResinSoul sent, as well as a prop blood bag from a Hellsing action figure.

that last shot is a freakin' mood.
So today was really rough because of house stuff, BUT I got to paint a wall yellow and I found an EAH brush so Chava's hair is manageable again!
You can hardly even see the flyaways in that first one
Bonus: I really did get to paint a wall!

Gotta find/make her some clothes that fit, but other than that, Beatrice the Franken-Bat is done.
She's a MH x Bubiloons hybrid. She's so cute. :3

D'Ollie!
D'Ollie is finished! (If you missed, D'Ollie is my first custom fashion doll, originally a budget Draculaura. Here are all the progress photos.)
They are a nonbinary fairy that was originally meant to be a mini-me doll but wound up being more...me in spirit. I like how they turned out, though!

Guess what I did today?
I've never actually painted eyes on a doll; I've done some simple faceups before but only on dolls with inset eyes. So uh. That was difficult and it's not like, spectacular, but I think it turned out pretty cute.
Does it actually look like me? Uh, well, not really, but whatever.
and now for something slightly different.
Most of my doll customizing has been simple faceups on resin or plastic, and even there I usually let my spouse (@starheartsdreams ) do those.
Buuut I decided it'd be fun to completely customize a Monster High doll. We had an old Draculaura that my spouse had bought a few years back expressly for customizing--it was already wiped clean.
Blank!Draculaura features non-articulated arms and a lot of dust from the attic.
After some conversation I thought it'd be fun to make a "mini me," because Draculaura was my fave; I'm a pink-loving goth and so is she, so y'know. I'm Ollie so I am temporarily calling them D'Ollie.
So far I have:
Rooted my mohawk. The sides are going to be flocked. I'm not going to keep the mohawk as short as my actual one because I love the look of a mohawk ponytail but anytime I try to grow one I end up getting annoyed and chopping it off lol.
And while waiting for glue to dry...
Made some simple leggings, and some cheap fairy wings that will not be the final product by ANY means but gives me a nice visual. Because my mini me doll is going to be a pink fairy. A pink goth fairy.
More news as it develops!
(Also I'm they/them and so is D'Ollie.)

Update!
Hair styled (will be trimmed more later), scalp painted for later flocking (you can't really see the paint in the photo though lol), and head reattached. I also made them a little tunic/dress thingy, detailed with fabric markers, and instead of the tulle wings I've made some new ones out of watercolor paper, which I will paint later and then affix with magnets so that I can change their outfit.
The tunic I'm not thrilled with. I did the "dip dye" and design with fabric markers, and they look okay but something about it is throwing me. Also I made my own pattern and it doesn't close properly in the back but y'know what that's FINE. It's fine! Really!
Since taking the photo, I've put fray check along the edges because hemming at this scale seems problematic.
It'll be a few days until I can do the faceup as we have storms here but that's okay.

I love how BJD develop posing quirks, it gives them so much personality. She's SO cute!
Chava got a new comfy outfit! It can be inconvenient, but I do kind of love how her natural arm positions, while awkward, look SO neurodivergent!

I asked @starheartsdreams to update Ambrose's faceup a little for me, and I think he looks wonderful! I love him so much. Here's his older faceup from earlier today, the pic I took that made me realize I wanted some things fixed.
The biggest change is just the better definition in the eyelid, and darker eyebrows, but it makes a HUGE difference.
(Ambrose is a recast littlefee shiwoo.)
