the guards guards vetinari and vimes dynamic is soooooo....they have NO respect for each other until they get locked up in a dungeon together and vimes sees vetinari totally chill just training the rats to act as little subjects and thinks "yeesh what the fuck is wrong with him" and vetinari sees him methodically chip away at the bars with some success and thinks "ok i can use this. also what the fuck is wrong with him" and then they go and develop a charged and symbiotic professional relationship for the next sevenish books. clowns.
