This is not this blog's usual subject matter, but it has been long enough and you all deserve to be updated. Thank you for your patience.
Final Fantasy VII: Code Radiant & Blog Updates
Hello, tumblr. It's been a while.
Sorry for the long absence. Many things have changed since the past year and I have dedicated the past year's time writing fanfiction. Specifically a novel's length worth of FF7 fanfiction. I am currently up to chapter 12.
Now hear me out. This is a pet project that I have been passionate about since over a decade ago since I first started writing fanfiction at all. I have been unable to stay motivated working on my tumblr blogs as personal issues have come and gone and only more recently I've sought to make it an actual career being a freelance writer. However, I have yet to make a single cent off of any of my works.
I have opened up a Patreon page at https://www.patreon.com/rubia_ryu, but I have decided to remove all translation and writing commissions for now, as I feel like I would have too many things going on to keep up with a consistent schedule. I am not taking translation requests at this time either. For now, if you wish to donate because you like what I write or just as general support, I will be eternally grateful. If I see my Patreon is actually moving somewhere as I work on my fanfic, I may be inspired to return to my main blog project and get through the rest of the Ace Attorney games and spinoffs. But in the meantime, I want to dedicate myself to one primary project at a time, and this one has seen too many delays over the years to keep holding back.
Thank you to all those who continue to follow me even despite my absence. Hopefully, I will be able to return as Rubia the Top Pomeranian once more.

Oh God I forgot it was Apollo Justice's 15th Anniversary + blog updates
So, uh... hey, guys. Sorry for the delays. I just remembered I had some cool stuff to share and today seems like a good enough day to drop by again.
Everyone knows I have only the most impeccable timing by being absent when I need to be.
Jokes aside, it's kinda awkward of an update post this time because I bring both good news and bad news.
The bad news is: I hate this site and how it sucks when I or anyone looking at my blog wants to find old archive posts. I hate this site even more now that they've changed the formatting and suddenly I can't just copy paste from the text files I've been using for this blog's project.
So I wanna move, but my blogspot site hasn't been updated in a couple years by now. I still need to figure out how I'm gonna port over this entire blog's archives, so my apologies that I don't have any particular updates on this, despite already having the next part ready. God, I hate tumblr.
BUT the good news is: I've updated my Patreon Page. I've decided to take off the translation commissions since not many people would be coming to me for bulk translations and stuff anyway, and definitely not for $3-5 a post. Instead, I want to experiment with writing commissions. I have an original story in the works, inspired by my childhood imagination, where I plan to make it a fan collaboration as well. If people are willing to donate, I will reserve special rights to ya'll to help contribute to this story.
I'm still putting things together atm, but the brief plot synopsis is thus:
A pair of Japanese international students arrive to meet their host living in a small town near San Francisco and will be staying with her for the entirety of their university stay. However, their simple introduction to American life is cut short when a puzzling series of paranormal murders take place wherever they go. As it turns out, their host is a specialized Arbiter of Death - one who judges the most dangerous, corrupted souls of the recently deceased - and this is business as usual for her. However, not everything seems to be going as it should in the Underworld. And to top it all off, she has to be caretaker for a family of primordial Godlike alien dogs who bring her no end of frustrations.
Aside from the main cast, some key plot points, and major themes being set in stone already, the rest of the story is open to readers to decide what direction it may take, what mysteries may develop over its course, and what characters, settings, and other concepts will appear. Please understand, though, that I won't be taking requests to put official or copyrighted content from real franchises, so don't ask for a Batman-meets-Phoenix-Wright crossover or anything. I'm technically making money off of this and I don't want to be sued.
I will be posting the prologue chapter to this on my AO3 shortly. Chapter 1 is in the works and isn't open to requests, but we'll see for later chapters.
In the meantime, I will try to update my blogspot site to get it ready, so I can return to my main project.
Oh, and before I forget again: Happy 15th Anniversary, Apollo Justice.

hello kind translator, I was wondering if you could translate some of Souta’s text from the art book? it’s on his aa wiki image gallery. there’s a bit much, but honestly I’m only curious about both of the staff comment parts for his two “forms” and maybe the character summary above that. if it’s too much that’s fine though! on an unrelated note, is there any place where we can donate to you? you deserve it ^_^
Sorry to keep your ask waiting! I only visit tumblr from time to time these days.
So there are staff comments for both his regular look and his hidden one. I’ll translate them both here.
--
P1
Yamazaki: During the 2nd case, when it was revealed that he was a circus performer, it was to help cover up his actual secrets. His motions are based on the “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” monkeys. The origins of his name are from the idea of “being controlled by monkeys”.
Iwamoto: Souta was kinda difficult to design, being the last boss character who puts up a “front”. I wanted to go with the idea of someone who doesn’t “tame monkeys” but is “tamed by monkeys”, to being later revealed as the mastermind, and giving players that real impact.
P2
Yamazaki: As a secret boss character, he hides his true self. As the true mastermind behind everything, he’s also a sort of hidden main character. Intimidating, yet cool and collected. Someone whose existence is full of contradictions, that he would even manipulate Edgeworth’s role as a prosecutor.
Iwamoto: Going from “tamed by monkeys” to “controlling all the animals”... I tried to pack in the shock of the idea. In his final beaten-up breakdown, I wanted to show how “the Tachimi Circus sure has a lot of different animals...”
--
And thank you, I appreciate the thought. I have set up a patreon account already, but actually, I have different plans for it and would like to update it before I make a formal announcement. Please be patient, I’ll get to that very soon. Probably later today.

I am watching turnabout spotlight and accidentally stumbled across your blog and i wanna say thank you SOOOO much i know how tough translating is especially by ear. Again. Thank you!!
Ah, you’re welcome? Haha. I wish I could take credit, but there’s only one video I’ve found on Youtube of Turnabout Spotlight with translations and they’re not done by me. I’m grateful, honestly. Translating by ear takes me way more time since I’ve always self-taught myself Japanese and never had a speaking buddy during that time.
Sorry for any confusion! I do know there are other official Ace Attorney musicals, but I think I’m going to have to put off such big translation projects for now. I need to focus on this blog and update a lot of things first.

Hello. Sorry at bother you but when i go to your masterpost and click on a link it takes me to a blog called gyakutensaibanvsaceattorney but every time it tells me that the post doesn't exist. Is this normal?
Hello. This blog has been on hiatus for a while and I need to update many of the links on the masterpost. This is because this blog used to be called “gyakutensaibanvsaceattorney”, but I changed it a few years back to what it is now. Tumblr doesn’t automatically update these old links, unfortunately.
Currently considering moving blogs, but the new one is still under renovations. Will update again when it’s ready.

Merry Fluffmas Friends!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Happy 20th Anniversary, Ace Attorney!
This is by far the cutest I've seen of Missile the Shiba Inu, holy pupperoni. Kazuya Nuri is literally, unironically an Art God.
Btw, if you live in Japan and have an account, you can pre-order the whole anniversary pic framed on e-Capcom starting today up to Feb 8, 2022. Official sales begin on April 21.
I can't say for sure if you'll be able to find a copy on facilitating sites like Play-Asia, but if I find any, I'll keep ya'll updated.

Hey you might have figured this out but I noticedyou comment a while back aboutissues sending scs from the switch to mobile, the switch has a feature to send pictures to your phone using a special wifi thing that you set up though qr scans
Thanks for the suggestion, but I was having problems with the QR scanner linking me. Somehow the link doesn't work? I'm not sure. I'll have to try again when I can use the Switch again since my bro has been playing Skull Girls nonstop lately.
It's part of the reason why my other blog has gone on hiatus too, but I also need to get back to finishing up AJ stuff. I guess I'll just get right into DGSvsTGAA posts after that since I have the complete scripts for 'em.

Bump only for the last paragraph, but I really am disappointed.
I am disappointed in you Internet
So recently I've finished playing through TGAA Chronicles and still need to finish organizing my screenshots and work them into a usable format with the game scripts for both games, so I may return to the GSvsAA Project at last. I've even got my casual-AA-fan brother to start playing through the first game and he's loving it so far.
But then I was reminded of one moment in Episode 4 of Resolve when our lovable Holmes was complaining about rent as always. Our lovable Iris reminded him that he squandered his last client's payment on a freakin' automobile.
Where the deuces is my fanart of "Herlock Sholmes driving a car", Internet!?
All Google revealed to me was the piddly-squat we have of the history of Sherlock Holmes media featuring anachronistic vehicles and maybe a mention of an automobile in one of the later stories.
The first person who sees this and draws a picture of Holmsie with his holmies chillin' in a time-appropriate antique car from the early 1900s (preferably before 1910) will have done the entire Ace Attorney community and Internet fandom communities in general a Godsent favor.
Also I'll grant you a sneak peek into upcoming writing projects I hope to publish before this year ends, but we'll see where that goes.
In other news, I've had a long enough hiatus from my GSvsAA Project. Before I jump into DGSvsTGAA, though, I still need to finish up GS4vsAJAA. Please look forward to incoming updates later this week.
This has been Rubia Ryu.

Hi :D I've been getting into fandom alot more recently and I'm going crazy trying to find fanfic communities/servers! You got any you recommend? Yakuza and Judgment is what I'm into right now but any fanwork type of thing would be cool~ thanks (and sorry if this is the wrong place to ask lol!)
It's fine, but next time please direct non-Ace Attorney asks to my other blog @rubiaryutheroyal. This one is specific to AA news / my GSvsAA project... and I admit I've been behind on both.
Er... Sorry to disappoint you. I've been undergoing a blackout for Yakuza 7 and Lost Judgment, since I've been in the middle of a Y7 LP that I never finished and am currently in the mid of a LJ one that I'm super invested in. So I haven't been in the Yakuza fandom very much these days. The last time I joined a few Yakuza servers, they all died but one, and that one is a private one for me and my homies. As for fanfics, I've only been using AO3, which I don't think has a community page...
But the best Yakuza fanarts I've seen aside from on Twitter and here are on the Yakuza reddit. There are also lots of trashy memes, but hey, sometimes you can find gold there. And good Lord are the people there fun and also funny. Twitter is so much worse to navigate for good comment chains that I rarely ever post there.
As for other fandoms, it's just been Smash Bros (and a wee bit of Nick All-Star Brawl), Final Fantasy, and One Piece as my big three these days. With a bit of AA sprinkled in here and there. I practically live on Youtube now, lol.
At least I finished the GAA duology and can actually get back to work on this project. But I still need to finish AJ:AA and it's been nibbling at me ankles for the longest time, but I'm in the middle of a writing frenzy too. Ugh. Too many projects and only one of me.
Thanks for the ask.

Hello! I hope I'm not causing any trouble, but I'd like to know if you can help me with a predicament. A month or so ago, there was a surplus of trilogy based Ace Attorney 4koma available, for example: the one with Edgeworth and the bell pepper, but many have seemed to disappeared, leaving almost exclusively DGS and AA4 in the results. Did I dream it all up or were they mass wiped from the internet?
I'm not sure what happened there either. I've checked back in my archives and all the 4koma I've shared and reblogged from @akechiscans are still here, but for some reason, they're not showing up via the search bar? Even though it still finds pages for all the posts where they used to be?? It's been like that for months too, so I guess whatever glitched out was never fixed and I'm not sure I know what to do.
Anyway, you can find them all available at akechi's archives as well. There are a few more DGS2 4koma avail @rubiaryuplays too that I don't think akechi ever got to. I put them there bc of spoilers.
When I cleaned up this blog, I made sure not to remove any of the posts where I submitted translations or useful tidbits, so there are still plenty on here that aren't specific to GSvsAA, though that is the main thing.

Hello! I just wanted to introduce myself as a disciple of yours... by which I mean I had the same idea as you almost a decade after you did. I'm super late to the game but I've been poking around your blog and Court Records and have just been glad to see that there are others who are invested in AA fan translation... so thanks for all your hard work. I've been making un-localized objection.lols over at @turnabout-trial, which is fun but exhausting. Would love for you to check it out :)
Hello! Sorry I've taken this long to respond, but I'm glad to have more people get involved with fan translation of these games, whether or not they've been localized already. Anyone still following me and actually keeping up with me, go follow @percydew and @turnabout-trial if you haven't already! They provide a lot of good stuff and explain Japanese linguistic and cultural concepts in depth as well. And to top it off, they present it better than I do, lol.
When I started this project a long time ago, I didn't think it would be such a big thing, so I never quite got into the habit of screenshotting anything. In hindsight, I should have done it more. It really goes a long way and better sets the context than I can describe in text.
Back in those days, my laptop was already a year or so old and now it's... Baby Jesus Christ, have I really been going at GSvsAA for over 7 years now? Now I feel like Hobohodo. The only thing I'm missing is a friend who can make spy cameras for me.
Jokes aside, if you ever need my help with that stuff, just hmu. I'm also on discord as @ryubiagagotoku#9211 if you need me. I have notifications turned on for that, so I'd actually be able to get back to you ASAP.

Hi, sorry to bug you, and this sadly isn't very specific, but I was looking at TV Tropes and the mentioned this about Luke Atmey: "and in the Japanese version, it's suggested he killed Kane Bullard out of self defense, not just desperation." Is there any truth to this? I was unable to find any proof as I don't think it would be covered on english websites.
I'm not sure where you found this or if it was removed already (it has been a while since you sent this, sorry!), but I can't find anything in the JP script where this was suggested. At no point does Atmey confess to getting attacked by Bullard. It's been a while since I've looked back at the old GS3 interviews, but I don't think something like that was ever mentioned either, so *shrug*.

Hello. What is the Chords of Steel called in the japanese version?
It's 発声練習 (hassen renshuu), which is simply "vocal practice", but I like to think there's an emphasis on the 発声 part because, well, it's Apollo we're talking about. I think they went with "Chords of Steel" as a vague reference to music, though, to make a nice parallel with Klavier.

I'm just sharing this. This Patreon biz has nothing to do with this blog's GSvsAA project. That was always meant to be a hobby I did, and I guess I sometimes take my sweet time to get around to it. But with this set, I'm gonna try to avoid hiatuses if I can help it.
Maybe I'll finally finish GS4vsAJAA by this month, ha! And then get on with the others I said I would do.
I finally got around to setting up a Patreon
I would have gone into this post a lot earlier with all the energy I could bring, but after the Nintendo Direct, I haven't been able to stop wheezing at the new Mario Bros movie cast. I'm DEPLETED.
Anyway, since someone brought it to my attention in an old tumblr ask, I've been stewing for the past several months over how to set up a Patreon page, how much I should even ask for, and what I should deliver. For the longest time, I was actually against it because I always saw my translation work as a volunteer job and I didn't need the money. But eventually my family situation changed and I've been under lots of pressure to find a job over the past year, to little result.
So I finally caved and did something. Here ya go:
https://www.patreon.com/rubia_ryu
With this set up, I'm finally taking this blog work seriously and will stop running into hiatuses if I can help it. (This goes for my big project on the main blog too, but that's a separate schedule.) I think I've kept the subscription costs reasonably low. I'm not trying to stop global warming here or anything, ha. I ultimately decided to feature two main things:
1. Any major or bulk translation requests, like for at least 5 whole pages of text or more than 15 minutes of video, basically stuff that could take me anywhere from half an hour to several hours to comb through for details, I will redirect you to this page. Depending on your bargaining skills, however, I may let you off and work it for free or whatever you feel comfortable paying. Just DM me.
2. I'm reviving the Sporking Theater, at least my take on it! I'll add in a separate FF7 expansion pack too for the lulz; maybe for other franchises too, but they're still pending. Send me your fic requests. It can be any age rating. I marked my page as "includes adult content" just in case.
If you don't know what that is, Court-Records Forums was a hubbub back in the day for all Ace Attorney news and chat, and one of the best threads on that site was the Sporking Theater, where friends and I would roleplay as various characters (the sporkers) and poke fun at awful fanfiction, all with the authors' permission. Think Mystery Science Theater 3000 (if you're old enough to know that) or Cinema Sins on Youtube. Rest assured I will always make sure the author has given consent. I will screenshot and frame it if I have to.
Also, to be clear, any quick translation requests like asking me about something or if you need clarifying on something you found, you can just ask me as usual. No donations necessary.

Finally got a chance to update that blog with screenshots. As with the 3DS, I once again ran into issues getting screenshots shared to my phone and computer, but thankfully there's always a workaround.
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Is Better Than I Expected and I Already Expected Greatness
I got the Switch version and it blew my effin' mind seeing Asogi talk to me about rotating joysticks. (Yes, I know the 3DS also had a rotating joystick, but only one, and it's honestly a bit stiff compared to the Switch.) My, how far we've come.
AND THE VOICE ACTING IS PHENOMENAL, I CANNOT GET OVER THIS. Tired myself out voicing every character, though, lol. As always, this game isn't fully voice acted, but the moments where they are, are SPOT ON.
Ahem. As promised in my previous post, I will go ahead and explore localization differences with DGS vs TGAA, but due to spoilers, I'll be hosting them on my game react blog @rubiaryuplays. Please be warned that there will be HEAVY spoilers. I hide none of my reactions there and the last I updated that blog was the last time I finished DGS2 a few months ago. Also, since it's not quite as organized as this blog, the entries are going to be a little more chaotic.
Since I don't have the complete scripts of these games - and even when I do get them, I will NOT be sharing them with anyone until a few months down the line - I will only be going through some things I notice at first glance. Since this is technically my second (third, really) playthrough of the games, I'll deliberately skip unneeded dialogue to get through things faster. I'll eventually get back to those I missed later and post them on here in organized fashion.
As for GS4, I actually have the notes for the next parts saved on my computer, but I still need to give it another proofread and QC since I usually have to research a few things after taking my initial notes. I'll see if I can squeeze in some of that in-between my TGAAC episode posts.
