i feel like kit has real potential to be the most unhinged protagonist of all the shadowhunters books, like he's rolling up to the world-ending danger with approximately 3 years of training plus 3 years of public school, a magic gun, devastating inherited powers he has absolutely no idea how to use, years of unresolved emotional baggage, and a hereditary snippy attitude further cultivated and encouraged by jem "when i was your age i was dying of poison and i was still faster than you" carstairs and tessa "if you keep seeing six-fingered nigel like this he'll expect you to declare your intentions" gray, like the shadow world is simply not ready for his vibes

My names don't usually have Good Connections and Meanings and, if anything, they tend to be funny. Like, my most homophobic character is named Gaylord @wagner-fell here is a huge fan of him

But Dario and Fumiko, their parents, are Great With Names because they've had heaps of time to think about them mdosnsisndidb

And how would their powers help propell the story forward or contribute to the plot and/or worldbuiding?

Do they have powers just because, or do they exist in a magical world? Are the power unique to them or are they shared with other people?

For instance, the kinship chronicles has 6 recognised powers called insignias (actually they're 10 but the last four are a state secret so as to say...), meaning you can either be a doppelganger, a conductor, a puppeteer, a wraith, a mirage or a historian. Because their society, the kinship/mirror, has known of these insignias's existence for millennia, it has sort of evolved around them (e.g. there's a whole body of laws surrounding what apparitions conductors can/can't summon).

If your characters's powers existed within pre-estabished, in-world categories maybe their world ought to reflect on that? Idk their existence can be very light and passive, like people with Crow's bird shape-shifting abilities could have built-in nests in your average building?????? Or culturally you just Don't Have Birds because humans can turn into those????? Or cities could highlight more shadowy nooks in order to make Cordelia's power thrive???????? In any case, I do believe these kind of powers shouldn't necessarily add to the plot, rather they enrich the worldbuilding, which doesn't necessarily translate to them using them 24/7

If the powers are unique to them, then ig you'll need to pay more attention to them. Idk I've always found that specific part of worldbuilding a bit tiring (also because so far I've only been able to imagine 10 powers and I have like 80+ OCs lol)

Their names are Angustias Tsuruhime (top left; named after Granada’s matron virgin and a warrior priestess), Nieves Ujinohime (top right; Nieves means snow and Ujinohime was a military ruler) and Reina Zoraida Miyahime (the little girl; Reina Zoraida means queen Zoraida in Spanish and Miyahime was the warrior lady of a castle)!

james loves nothing more (except cordelia) than settling in his ‘reading chair’ whilst the sun sets every evening - although he does more sleeping in it than reading😂

i love how amerie didn't even hesitate to yeet the fetus, there was no "omg should we keep it" palaver like in other teen dramas, malakai and harper didn't shame her for her decision (unlike some people, *cough* emma and craig when manny had her abortion on degrassi *cough*), there was no angst or regret afterwards (i mean yeah it wasn't the most pleasant procedure for her to have to go through but her being emotional about it had more to do with it being a physically unpleasant thing to have to go through and not because she suddenly changed her mind or whatever).
