i always think about an AU where maki and mai run away when they're kids and live together no matter how incredibly hard it is because all they needed was each other

it's hard to imagine maki taking the initiative like this rather than buying into the whole "becoming stronger and changing the zen'in family for mai" narrative in canon... if only she knew what mai had really wanted was for them to be miserable together... so in this AU maybe there is a time slip situation where when mai died, maki's mind somehow goes back in time and she knows Exactly what to do (run the fuck away, anything's better than this)

they stay on the run, evading sorcerers and zen'ins. mai constructs yen notes every day. she's the real breadwinner between them but maki doesn't like that mai suffers every time she uses her CT, so she goes out looking for random jobs to do. most times she ends up with morally questionable jobs like beating people up and eventually becomes a hit man with a penchant for offing sorcerers/curse users with bounties, which eventually leads to her chasing a hit on an old woman in the countryside. turns out she's nobara's grandma, which is how maki and mai come into contact again with the main jjk Plot

it's an old AU i was tinkering with back in 2021 for a "what if gojo went to kyoto tech instead" scenario. i was thinking about the loredrop that yuta's uniform was a problem child uniform at the time (this was when jjk0 came out...). ramblin under the cut

basic premise was that gojo still wants to go to high school, but his clan doesn't let him go to tokyo tech since it has a bad rep of being too radical... so he goes to kyoto tech instead. they give him the problem child uniform in the first week or something since he acts out way too much (he wanted to go to tokyo, goddammit!!!) while being too powerful (i'm hcing that yaga forgave a lot of shenanigans and geto reeled him a lot in canon lol)

geto is still in tokyo tech. one of the drawings was them meeting for the first time on their first joint mission b/c the higherups were like two strongest kiddos? send them out to exorcise a Big Problem curse. they have a terrible impression of each other, so they get super competitive during the exchange event and destroy all their surroundings/get into a lot of trouble lol

kenny is also there because i can't help myself

this was one of the ideas i wanted to explore more but unfortunately my stsg well is kinda dried up rn. ty for asking though!
