our third task will be a quick and easy one, but definitely fun! your next task is to identify your muse’s love language! although the ‘five love languages’ quiz has been around for quite some time, we’ve recently seen the colors version around. it’s a quick quiz you’d take and choose answers based on your muse. when you get their results, feel free to post what color they got and the description of it, as well as any potential matches the quiz lists! you’re also welcome to leave your own commentary as well: do you agree? is this fitting? and do you think the potential matches make sense?

Greetings Students,

We hope all of you are doing well and are recovering from last night’s events. We’d like to extend an apology on our part. Though we did our best to be prepared, the storm grew more severe than any news outlet had warned. During the storm, we had a couple very sad events where two students were harmed in particular, and we’d like you all to keep both Spencer Novak and Caleb Bishop in your thoughts as we carry on this week. As of right now, both of them are in stable but critical condition, and we will be sending our periodic updates as their doctors and families update us.  We wish them well and are hoping for their speedy recovery.

Although we had some other injuries on campus, we are thankful to say that most other students were not severely harmed. If anyone has lingering issues, we encourage you to reach out and we’ve attached our campus clinic information below. If it is an emergency, please dial 911 directly or press the nearest panic button to contact campus police.

We hope this is one of the last emails we have to send out with unfortunate news. As the storm has settled down, we have sent our staff out to evaluate the damage in order to see what changes need to be made. Unfortunately, upon checking the campus conditions, the damage has been more widespread than we thought. We will cancel classes for the next couple of days while we reorganize ourselves and recover. No exams or assignments will be taking place for a minimum of two weeks. Due to some flooding and building damage, there have been some changes made. Please read carefully below to understand the temporary living conditions and campus rules:

Styx River has overflowed, flooding a good portion of the lawns and making traveling across campus difficult. Please use extreme caution when nearing the river, and avoid if at all possible. We will have staff posted there regularly to assure everyone’s safety.

Some dorms have also experienced different levels of damage such as flooding, broken windows and power outages. Pythagoras Hall has suffered extreme damage from a fallen tree. We expect this to take longer to repair, and we are unsure when it will be safe for students to return. 

Gorgias Homes is also closed until further notice due to several broken windows and electrical damage that could put students at risk for shock.

Both dorms have been closed and taped off. We’ve had staff retrieve what they can find, and they will be assisting students with moving their essential belongings to new living quarters. If anyone is seen entering these buildings, disciplinary action will be taken. 

Everyone will be relocated to Plato Place until we can assess and fix the damage. We’ve made changes to roommate assignments in order to accommodate the influx of new students. 

Plato Place has experienced less damage and is safe to live in, though we’ve seen that it is not functioning as normal. The power and connection is spotty at times, and some outlets will need to be repaired. Please be patient with your new temporary roommates while we work to fix this.

We’ve begun the immediate removal and clearing of fallen debris; however, there is still the chance of trees falling after being uprooted by the storm. Please obey all signs on campus and do not enter areas that are roped off for your safety. 

Though not on campus, Neptune’s Cove is complete OFF LIMITS to students. There is an abundance of unsteady rock and land, meaning slips, falls and potential drowning are very real dangers. Disciplinary action will be taken if students are found near the coast.

As of right now, these are the major changes around campus, and we will keep you updated as things progress. Please take the next few days to recuperate and settle into things.

This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest  floor of a building. Greetings students,

We hope you have received the emergency alert as connection is spotty at the moment. Due to this, we will be projecting the contents of this email over our PA system to assure all students are notified. The storm’s impact is much more severe than we originally anticipated; however, we have prepared a backup plan in order to assure the safety of all students. We have seen some issues around different parts of campus, such as fallen trees, power outages, broken windows and the beginnings of flooding. Please use the nearest underground hallway in order to access the recreation hall, as we have transformed it into a bunker for the evening. We recommend moving as quickly as possible, as damage is minimal now but is predicted to increase heavily in the next couple of hours. We will be sending security and staff to assist any students that may need help.

As of right now, the forecast states the worst of the storm will be over by 9:00am tomorrow, and we will assess the damage done to campus and update you all with how to proceed in due time.

OOC INFORMATION:

This will be a dashboard-discord hybrid event.

The dashboard portion will consist of reactions to the storm and can contain a range of things such as: packing up things to go, seeing fallen trees, power going out, running in the rain. They can be mild reactions to the initial light rain, or terrified reactions to the sudden, intense storm as it picks up. We ask that you do not RP any of the rec room on the dash. Once your muse enters the rec room, it will be part of the discord event.  You can begin doing dash threads once you’ve seen this post and continue making starters until the discord event begins. As usual, they can be continued as long as you’d like, but no new starters after Saturday, May 16th @ 3pm EST. 

The discord will take place Saturday, May 16th at 3pm EST and stay up for twenty-four hours. It will consist of everyone gathering in the rec room to bunker down for the night. We’ll be giving more details on the condition of the rec room closer to.

Greetings students,

As you’ve seen on the news, a severe storm is estimated to roll in later this evening. We’ve cancelled classes taking place after noon today, and we will continue to update you as the situation progresses. As of right now, we are hopeful the storm will not impact any classes beyond this evening, though we do recommend preparing to stay in for the evening and limit outdoor activity. We have eliminated our parking garage fees for the rest of the week, and we suggest all cars on campus be moved to closed-top lots for security reasons.  We do not anticipate any outages, but please unplug any electronics from outlets as a precaution. Stay safe, stay dry, and we will see you tomorrow!

                          task two: the one-liner challenge!

        to keep things moving on the dash and pair people up with people they might not have had a chance to thread with, we’ll be doing a one-liner challenge! this will be a very simple task where we will assign each participating member two people to thread with.  you will create a starter for those two people and tag them in it. the starters will be one-liners and you can either choose them from a one-liner list, ask meme, or of course generate them on your own. we know this isn’t everyone’s writing style, and some people prefer longer threads, so feel free to lengthen it and add details as you go along. they do not need to stay short threads, but absolutely can, so we suggest you reach out ooc to message the people you’re paired with. in order to actually take these threads in some direction, a little communication to see where the thread could go before starting would be very helpful. also, if the one liner you have in mind insinuates or assumes anything about the other muse, please contact the mun first to make sure it’s realistic and get it approved. we don’t want any godmodding!

       ( note: we will obviously not be counting words, but by ‘one-liners’ we do mean starters that are between 1-3 sentences  )

        “ wait –- who the fuck are the weird sisters? homecoming was wild, though. i know hatchett herald said that after the party at bobby’s – ”

        “ hatchett herald is trash. i swear, it’s like they don’t teach you anything useful at freshman orientation. look, after they booted half their staff because that gossip segment got their funding cut, it’s been downhill ever since. nobody cares about the suspicious rise of worms on campus sidewalks. ”

        “ well, actually – ”

        “ anyone who wants to know what’s actually happening on campus reads the weird sisters. rumor has it that it’s actually run by a few of the people who got kicked off the school paper. if so? boy, hatchett herald must be regretting that one. readership for the school paper has all but dropped off the face of the earth. i swear, giada’s going to report them if they keep leaving new copies of the paper around campus completely untouched. such a waste. that’s why we go digital, baby –- all the happenings and questions answered right from the palm of your hand. maybe the herald should take notes. ”

       “ i don’t have an energy to be one of the weird sisters, but i do have the energy to be the apple of their eye. if you want to know actual news instead of what’s happening in the worm community, that’s who i’d follow. ”

IN SUMMARY: “the weird sisters” is a news updates page created by three anonymous students. using the greek fates as codenames to keep their true identities under wraps, they report what’s happening around campus to the student body, take tips and leads from other eyes and ears, and answer the questions of curious minds. please read the rules below.

rules & conduct:

everything stated in this channel is in character. the weird sisters are npcs (students that are NOT played by any members). any replies, questions, etc here are in character and in game.

you can throw shade or expose other muses, but everyone will know you did it.

meaning your character can be held responsible for the commentary or questions they write here. everyone knows it’s them; everyone can see it.

you’re welcome to engage with us however and ask questions as well as send in tips or reply with commentary. i.e. “ hey weird sisters, did you see the bird alex is wearing as a dress? ” or “ i don’t think she looks like a bird –- she looks great! ”

                             HU Presents: The Sunset Soirée

                                         at the conservatory.

[INCOMING TEXT]: ahhhhhh hatchett twitter just announced the soiree date [INCOMING TEXT]: i s2g your ass better go with me [INCOMING TEXT]: let’s wear blue

         before the weather dips down too far, hatchett is having it’s semi-annual sunset soirée. held in the conservatory, the venue is unlike anything else –- tall glass walls and ceilings, curling vines and beautiful bright flowers greet students at the door. when it’s finally dark out, there’s no need to walk to the gardens to stargaze – simply look up to enjoy the view. it’s a good excuse for people to dress up, share drinks and break bread together, and there’s often presentations from a few clubs on campus. these are usually humorous in nature in order to break the prestigious atmosphere –- count on the just for laughs club to throw in a raunchy set or two after the champagne is done flowing in order to keep the event down to earth. for those students who aren’t fond of dolling up, the fun skits are a big draw, not to mention the free food. hatchett hires one of the best catering companies around, and the giant spread of amazing dishes is more than enough to keep students coming regardless of their taste in parties.

        after the sun officially sets, the food is eaten and the presentations have wrapped up, the dessert table opens up and the dj gets spinning. many students opt to kick their shoes off and use the presentation space as a dance floor –- or for those who are a little crowd shy, stuffing your face in free champagne and chocolate covered strawberries doesn’t hurt. the soiree tends to generate a lot of buzz once it’s announced – mostly excitement, but at time some nerves, too. after all, it’s tradition to attend with a plus one whether it be romantic or otherwise, and half the fun is hunting someone down so you can get that perfect matching photo. don’t be surprised when you see students hanging date proposals from their dorm windows, whispering on the fairytale bridge or buying the acapella club a round of tacos to convince them to serenade their desired date. the best part of the soiree is getting your date secured by handing them the golden snitch you caught in last week’s quidditch game.

when: dash event will run from now until tuesday @ 4pm est. the discord event will take place tuesday, april 28 @ 4pm est and continue for twenty-four hours afterward.

* from now until the discord event, characters are free to discuss the event, plan their outfits, seek out dates & even do a fun ‘promposal’  if they’re feeling fun. the dash portion will consist of preparation and lead up to the soiree, and the discord will be the soiree itself.

      ✰ ¸.•*   to go along with the theme of the group, our first task will involve a themed aesthetic board. this will be a visual task where players will select a greek god or goddess that best reflects their muse & post something visual to represent this connection, whether it be a collection of photos, a moodboard, a photoset or even a video if you’d really like to go for it. this task leaves a lot of room for creativity, and you do not need to be a photoshop expert to participate. if you fear this, you’re more than welcome to create something like a pinboard where you can share a collection without needing to take a photoshop tutorial, or simply crop photos and create a photoset on tumblr. if you need help figuring out sizing, just shoot us a message. if you’d like to include a written portion where you describe your choice, we’d absolutely love to see that! lastly, please tag your posts as hatchet:task:001.

                                the lancer olympics

held one day a year, olympic day is full of recreational activities from tug-of-war, to powder puff, to egg tosses. hatchett students sign up and are randomly assigned a team to avoid ‘stacking’, and the winning team receives a sum of money ( the participation money as well as hatchett’s own contribution ) to donate to a charity of their choice. 

there are a variety of events, and not all members must participate in each one. many teams tend to strategize according to their teammates strengths. great balance and coordination? you might be crowned with the achievement of racing across the football field with an egg on a spoon. violently competitive? join the notorious game of flag football, where every year the campus clinic waits shaking in their white coats. teams will rotate through every event tournament style until they’ve completed their rounds, and scorekeepers will tally up points and wins to conclude on a winner. 

the after party is at bobby’s, where bobby hands out a free drink to every participant, and the winning team drinks on the house all evening. for every drink or meal purchased, bobby donates a percentage to the winning team’s charity of choice. that being said, after all the wear and tear and the charitable attitudes, things tend to get a little hazy, and the sore losers may or may not have something to say about it...

                  it’s the hatchett homecoming hoedown !

[ INCOMING MESSAGE ]: hey they just posted the dates for hoedown! [ INCOMING MESSAGE ]: tickets to the game were impossible to get so we’re just gonna play and party [ INCOMING MESSAGE]: the usual? carnival, bobby’s, bonfire?

thrown yearly by the university, this is one of the biggest events on and off campus. once a year, the spare lots are used as carnival pop-ups and the streets surrounding campus is shut down to public traffic. these streets are used for a variety of things consisting of stages for performers where you’ll find magic shows, fire shows, acrobatics, live musical performances, improv shows and more. if you want to try your luck on the quickly-assembled and well-aged carnival rides, the choice is yours! rides are cheap but quite scary –- they’re known for creaking and i swear last year i saw a bolt or two missing off the big zipper, but i might just be paranoid!

don’t forget the entire lot dedicated to good ol’ classic carnival games, where you can shoot ducks, throw a few darts or balloon blast your way to success. it’s an easy way to blow your dollars, but with the free flowing alcohol ( with ID, of course ) and the hoedown’s signature slushies that are notorious for being a bang for your buck ( nobody really knows what’s in a loopy lancer to this day, and nobody really needs to ) you’ll be having a blast in no time. if the booze isn’t your deal, have no fear: sundae best offers a free scoop of ice cream to anyone with a valid student id. just make sure to take your lactaid first!

when you’re finished at the carnival, the party doesn’t stop there. in fact, most students will say it’s only started! head down a couple blocks to bobby’s bar where you’ll find the officially unofficial after party. with the best drink specials all weekend - and a more lax ID’ing process than the carnival grounds - the place fills fast. this street isn’t technically part of the carnival, but the sheer amount of bodies that crop up there on homecoming weekend naturally shut it down to any cars or innocent pedestrians. when the bar fills up, the party is known for stretching out onto the streets. luckily, the nearby houses gave up on making noise complaints years ago, so the party rages on in peace ( with only a few guest appearances from the cops and their friendly reminders ).

**lastly, after the big game on sunday night, hatchett has their famous bonfire party. always set to play homecoming night against their biggest rival team in the league –- the paramount pirates –- a big replica of one eyed steve gets tossed into the flames in the name of good ol’ fashion fun once it’s all over. a healthy rivalry never hurt anyone, and the burning of pirate steve changes drastically depending on the outcome of the game: aggressive in a loss, and cheerful in a victory. there is an old superstition, though... if steve doesn’t burn in full by midnight, next year’s game is destined to be a bust! ashes to ashes, dust to paramount!
