If I was the director on the next Monsterverse film, I would have Godzilla x Kong be retconned in the form of an in-universe movie, Blood and Honey style. And have Biollante, Gigan or Space Godzilla appear as the next opponent.

And not waste them or have them get killed off for the sake of empty fight fan service, or have Godzilla as a plot device.
