What happened to my restraint? My ability to hold off on immediate gratification?

I stay up late, night after night, not doing anything in particular.

And I do it, over and over again, just a cycle rarely breaking.

And I do it, knowing that it is destroying everything.

Weird how you can feel uncharacteristically content, or even happy

But in trying to put that mood to words

That vagueness of what’s so good solidifies into a gauzy membrane,

Your inspection pokes holes through the surface,

And leaves you with a ratty scrap you recognize even less.

Hope y’all enjoy it, the style is probably going to vary some, hopefully won’t be so all over the place in the future, but this was just representative of my mental state at the time lol. Carrying a light bulb, firmly grasped

So that it may break, tearing my hand to bloodied ribbons

Tie them around my brain, throttling it to death

So it won’t try to hurt anyone ever again

The ounce of prevention turns to a pound of cure
