A Full Day
Let me swell you
with good mornings,
give you suns to soak up —
Golden hour chains
& earrings will be made.
Then I could earn you
a bright day,
build its height with bare hands ;;
(For you, grime & grease
are a grace to adorn.)
All this, if you
might say “goodnight”…
Meet me between the sheets
& let me see
your pale-moon face wane to sleep.

As an Ingrate
Damn heavy day,
it took eight men
just to drag it
from the Sun
to the sky.
Guts all tangled
with hernias,
necks and shoulders
bent awkward
and aching.
All that strife
and sorry struggle,
all the agony
for remorse
so thankless ;;
They struggle to bring
a new Day to being,
and each one I weep,
“Take it back,
take it back.”

Hollow life ;;
time rots me
inside out.
Belly bursting
filled with sand,
glass for hours
squandered.
Let me wander
your shores,
make the most
of a moment —
Fill my lungs
with bright stars
and sigh relief.
