In another universe,
I meet my father
When he is a child.
We play catch in the woods
And as we play he tells me
He isn’t allowed to cry
But sometimes the world
Hurts him and he doesn’t know
What to do with all the pain.
So I give him a shoulder to cry on.
And he does. He does
Until the tears are done.
Afterwards, I buy him ice cream
And I listen to his laugh,
The glowing warm laugh
Of a child who knows he is safe.
I wish someone could
Have done that for him.
Been a kind, safe place
For the child he used to be.
Would it have made a difference?
Would it have made a difference?

If we date, just know I'll never stop touching you. I'll play with your hair, your hands, scratch your back, rub your shoulders, your neck, grab your jaw, hug you, kiss you, everything. all the time. affection is my favorite and I just like to touch you.

the thing that sucks is that people love saying sleep early is good etc etc and yeah it is. I've seen some benefits before. but I think it sucks to ignore that late night is the only time with any freedom. I think it sucks to not acknowledge the dread in waking up and it's a work day again

Mahmoud Darwish, from Journal of an Ordinary Grief (tr. from the Arabic by Ibrahim Muhawi)
[Text ID: A place is not only a geographical area; it's also a state of mind. And trees are not just trees; they are the ribs of childhood.]
