i agree so hard about this !! killing joan feels like a small price to pay to be in control of his life -- and he knows he could do it. i think he starts to like knowing that he could do it if he wanted to, and then with killing doug and mathis and deb, it starts feeling even easier until he decides that he will and then nothing can change his mind.
that's so interesting that he might be choosing to have her as one of the miscellaneous victims in the middle of the spree !! it's kind of like he doesn't want to give her the power to weigh on him anymore, not let her be stuck in his mind as his first or last.
i feel like in a post-ends arrest situation, the fact he killed his own mom would be focused on heavily in a trial or in the media, and i think he'd hate that. he doesn't want to always be joan's son, but she's hanging over him even in death.

Happy shaperil! What's your favorite dark Corey moment?
Happy Shaperil!! 🔪🖤
I think that my favorite dark Corey moment would be when he kills Joan. As a member of the Joan hate club, I was very pleased when Corey gave her what she deserved.
In a way it was very symbolic and I love to think about what we didn’t see after the cut—how long he took with her as he killed her, if he was pulled completely into a state of brutality and felt nothing, or if he was emotional (gratified, pissed, relieved). I also love that Corey gets to kill the person that initially made his life miserable, and it makes me wonder if he frequently thought about his momma’s death prior to the accident—whether it be actually killing her himself or if she were to hopefully die by some other cause.
There’s so much complexity when it comes to Corey’s relationship with Joan. I like to think that her death is a really big turning point for him, and it was interesting that she wasn’t his final kill (or at least his final one before he attempted to kill Laurie), which makes me feel like her death wasn’t as emotionally significant to him and he was happy to have her out of the way. I wonder if he relished in the fact that in the first time in his life, he was finally free of her.
Additionally I also loved the scene where Corey stands beside the bush as Laurie looks out her window. I immediately noticed the parallel between the first Halloween when Michael himself did this, and I think it really gives us a glimpse into this idea that there is a bit of Michael in Corey.

i won't lie to you all, i'm still kind of obsessed with what chris nolan said at the oscars about how films have only been around for ~100 years, how they are still a very new art form, and how we have so much left to do and explore with them. imagine being in only the 1st century of painting, or writing, or sculpture. that's where we are with movies, and that blows my mind a little bit, to be quite honest.

just popping in to wish you a happy Shaperil and ask. . .
What is your favorite kill by Corey? And which one is the hottest, if different?
HAPPY SHAPERIL BESTIE! So glad you're doing it again this year <3
Favorite Corey kill is definitely Willy. I've talked to both my spouse and Anna @hersweetrevenge about if Michael has a sense of humor, and I think to some degree he does, and it shows in his kills. Corey has it too, a little bit. While I do think he finds pleasure in killing, I think revenge is definitely his primary motivator and that makes him care less about the kills being amusing to him. That being said, he definitely does consider his own amusement and Willy's kill is maybe the most obvious place we see some humor in Corey's violence. Willy spent years talking shit and Corey not only breaks his jaw and cuts off his tongue, which is the most direct punishment for the crime a victim commited against Corey, but then leaves his tongue on the turn table to interrupt the music that's playing. A loudmouth's own tongue used to silence his radio show. It's fun.
Also it's the most brutal kill as far as like... sensations on the killer's side? Like his Margo and Terry die pretty gruesomely and painfully on the victim's end, and the thing with the corkscrew is completely nuts, like how much force do you need to pierce someone's skull through a bag with a fucking corkscrew?? Jesus Christ lol. But to hold someone's head in your hands and smash it, to use the SCISSORS... idk the Willy kill is like the scariest to me in terms of what Corey has become willing to do with his own hands, if that makes any sense at all lol
Also also, it's mostly practical effects and the broken jaw makeup is so good, i think they only had one tongue to cut and they nailed it!
Hottest kill is Doug of course. And I know I don't have to explain to you why lol it's shot sensually on purpose and then he goes and has actual sex immediately after, they knew exactly what the fuck they were doing lol. But also I really like the way he manipulates Doug and that in the novelization Corey oinks at him too haha. He's so devious and bitchy, it's almost more of a Ghostface kill than a Michael kill, which makes it hotter to me lol. Thanks for asking! Anyone else who has asks about Corey or Michael or the Halloween franchise (I've seen them all!) is welcome to come celebrate Shaperil with me!
#corey cunningham#blake blogging#you're so big brained i agree with all points 🤝#michael is a strange critter. his sense of humour (what what he has of one) is fascinating !!#this is why i love willy's kill so much !! because its the most clear fuck you that corey gives on his spree#in a way it feels like the most elaborate kill. as well as being the one that most emphasises corey's sense of humour --#-- about the situation#like cutting out willy's tongue is a very deliberate action compared with the general sloppy destruction he wrecks on everyone else#he could have just bashed willy's head in and been done with it. it'd probably be enough to kill him if he got a few more hits in --#-- but he *chooses* to cut his tongue out. like the cherry on top.#so i totally agree that its the kill that shows the most direct correlation with what willy had done to him yknow#i think overall corey's humour would come out more if he continued killing post-ends. he definitely would have become a serial killer --#-- and that is where his sick sense of humour about ''isnt it funny you made me into this? what do you expect from a monster?''#as for the other kills:#he really went ham with that corkscrew 💗 baby's first solo kill and he's trying his best#corey oinking at doug will always be it for me. i love that it's kind of fun before this extremely sensual kill --#-- like corey is testing the waters. idk if he's taking dougs kill as seriously at first because hes just *helping* michael#-- then with mathis it's corey's first time and i think that is the point where he comes into it as something *he* is doing yknow ??

Popping in to wish you a happy Shaperil and ask. . . What is Corey Cunningham's best kill?
hi toxic, happy shaperil !! 🎃🔪 and thank you for the question !!
i love all of corey's kills, of course. all of them mean something special to him and to his story. he put his whole pussy into all of his kills because those people deserved it.
but to answer your question, i'm very partial to the corkscrew kill for dr. mathis, if only for how sloppy it is, plus i am a silly scarecrow stan above all else. this kill is corey's first outing as a killer without michael (for now), and i feel like the improvised weapon and sloppy execution are fitting for corey who is trying to regain control. sure, it's not perfect, but he doesn't need it to be perfect, he need the job done 💪 i am deeply obsessed as well with the shot of the scarecrow after deb turns the light on, those big expressionless eyes and stupid smile looking up at her. there's something about the movement, or how we don't see the whole movement, that gives major uncanny valley.
however, i think corey bludgeoning stacy is a very underrated kill. there's just something about the brute strength he shows that gets to me. with a knife it's different, it's hands on but it's cleaner in a way, sliving into someone, but the wrench is blunt and heavy. and corey does not hold back with swinging it. it's on of his more brutal kills in my opinion, and i love imagining what he was thinking, what he looked like when he was doing this truly merciless act.
and i wouldn't be a devoted member of the joan cunningham hate club if i didn't mention her death too. although it isn't really shown on screen (besides the deleted scene) i am obsessed with thinking about it's context and emotional implications. joan not knowing it's corey, corey finally getting rid of the person he both loved and hated most in the world, joan begging for corey to be safe and corey knowing it's too fucking late.

characters that are asexual to me:
barbie (she's aromantic too) *
frank hardy (he's straight-ace, loves to be in love) **
eddie munson (he's the most bi-ace guy you'll ever meet)
tiffany valentine (she's totally demisexual, babyyy) ***
nancy nakagawa (she's straight-ace, but boys are not worth it)
michael myers (he's the definition of aroace)
ethan landry (he's the ace to quinn's aro)
* "I thought i might stay over tonight?" "Why?" "Because we're girlfriend-boyfriend." "To do what?" "I'm actually not sure."
** "You wanna come over later and... study?" "I have work tonight. You should come by Wilt's and study." "Uh, not exactly what I was suggesting, but it'll do." "What were you suggesting?"
*** "You know I'll kill anybody, but I'll only sleep with someone I love."

💘favourite ships💘
tagged by @slutforstabbings, and in turn i will tag whoever wants an excuse to post some pictures of the blorbos they like to make smooch 💋
ahh this was so difficult for me too !! i'm not a hugely dedicated shipper, and very few of the ships i do have are exclusive, but these are the pairings i find most interesting or that are closest to my heart 💗
Tumblr media
corey and michael from halloween ends (and by extension, corey and roger, the ship i literally captain); lisa and the creature from lisa frankenstein; kylo and hux from star wars (and by extension, kylo and ren prime); mickey and mallory from natural born killers
honourable mentions (because i couldn't stick to just four lol):
patrick and kat from 10 things i hate about you
tate and ben from american horror story: murderhouse (the precursor to corey and roger)
bruce and lex from batman vs. superman
tyler and the narrator from fight club (and by extension, narrator, tyler and marla)
veronica and jd from heathers
chucky and tiffany from bride of chucky (sorry, i disregard their canon after that movie lol)
nathan and skwisgaar from metalocalypse

this is such an interesting detail that i really haven't thought about enough 🤔
i agree with the council of corey's consensus: he might not have a personal interest in flowers, but he loves learning and having the knowledge to be confident in what he's talking about.
i always thought roger's comment was very funny lol like blake said, it feels like a joke that he's pretty confident corey knows isn't true, otherwise i really don't think he'd say it. also, in the novel, it specifically mentions that roger personally doesn't give shit about the flowers, but likes that corey is enthusiastic about it, so it seems like he gives corey a bit of free-reign to do whatever with the garden. something something, corey gets knowledgeable about gardening so that he is given more decision making opportunities?
it is interesting that he chose yard work as his money making scheme, how did he decide on that? i guess he needs something cash-in-hand (maybe so it's easier to keep more private from joan), while also being something that doesn't necessarily require prior knowledge for the basic jobs people want (raking leaves, mowing lawns, etc.) -- once he got closer with the allens, i agree with what ai said, i can totally see him learning more about the botany and landscaping aspects, to impress them and also get more work with them.
in general, i'm with toxic when she said that doing gardening and yard work is corey's way of venturing into the real world lol. i do think he needs some outside adult socialisation, seeing as he probably spends too much of his time with joan.
personally, i feel like crey is someone who is just really earnest about whatever job he's doing. he does gardening work, so he wants to be the best at it (or as best as he can be). if he's going to be planting flowers, he wants to plant the right ones, at the right time, in the right places so that it looks good and grows properly. i don't know how much prior knowledge he would have had (do you think he ever did any gardening with joan? does she even keep a garden? was he really invested in growing his cress in a paper towel in his elementary school science class?), but he genuine wants to know what he's doing and he will take the time to learn.
One of my psych classes has us doing a project where we do a diagnostic hypothesis on a fictional character. Of course I picked Corey 🥰
Whilst going through the movie to find some stuff, I noticed that Allen remarks about how hopefully his babysitting is better than his lawn work, and Corey laughs. Corey then starts giving him advice about the flowers in his lawn and how it could really use some perennials and hydrangeas.
Was this ever discussed?????
Does this mean Corey is a flower enthusiast???
Tagging my loves, I need your opinions 😭
