here lies sunshine valley, california a forgotten gold rush whisper, in obscurity and perpetuity. there is more than rumor to sunshine valley, but it always seems to be rumors that keep it alive.  after a flash-in-the-pan rise to mediocrity in the 1840s and notoriety in the 1970s, sunshine valley is the place nobody seems to be from and everybody seems to know.  urban legends don’t just knock on the car windows of teenagers or make calls from inside the house, they are alive and well in the shadow of tahoe national forest.  with a fading main street that calls back to the kind of glamour sunshine valley has never actually known, there’s more truth than hearsay when it comes to the old commune and the little college on the edge of town.  the locals call it irony, but apathy and entropy are always ruling principles.

blueberry hill farms, the once bankrupt berry farm that bobby andrews bought on a whim for cheap, quit his 9-5 job for and brought back to life, updating it into a thriving little farm. along with the main house that was painstakingly updated, bobby built six small 1br/1ba and two 2br/1ba cottages on the property to rent on airbnb/maybe their own website. he updated the old barn into a gorgeous wedding/event venue, brought back to life the old neglected berry patches and apple/peach orchard, and planted a rose garden with a smol pond. he ended up making a small market for check ins, selling eggs, jams, milk, cheese?, fruits/vegetables basically any overflow from the farm along with ready to go dishes such as pies, soups, and anything else you could make with the excess product that doesnt get sold. he ended up buying a few animals eventually, a small herd of about 10 cows, some rescued horses, goats, chickens, ducks, a dog or two, and some barn cats that lurk. most of the animals are tucked into a smaller animal barn and paddocks and some wander around the property. guests are always welcome to help with the chores if they’d like as well as sign up for trail rides.


seasonally they have a few events, such as pick your own berries in the summer and apples/peaches/pumpkins in the early to late fall. they have a corn maze in the fall as well as hay rides. the cottages are booked up for most of the summer/fall and their slow season definitely falls on the winter/spring months. although they still get some occupancies its not as crazy as the summer/fall months. 


bobby needs his marry barries (name subject to change), anyone/any age is welcome from full time year round employees to seasonal employees (summer/fall). its a very homey vibe among everyone, everyone (including guests) are welcome to share a family dinner that in the warmer months is served outside the farmhouse. the farmhouse has a 5bedrooms that staff can crash in or live in while working on the farm (possibly a bunkhouse type place too). basically its like a commune, but everyone gets paid. theres a lot of areas that employees can work as well as blending of jobs so they work where needed at that moment, from management for the market and airbnb, working with the fruits/veg, working with the animals, a cook/baker (could be outsourced tbh so lmk if your character has a restaurant or bakery that wants to work with him) that makes the ready to go dishes. basically anything you can think of, if i missed something totally open to suggestions to add jobs.

the bakers come from old money, think the kennedy’s but the west cost version. their ancestor made a killing in the stock market a long time ago and some good business deals and ever since they’ve been popping up in different areas of notoriety, from politicians to movie stars. they come from big families and they have big families. 

they may not always get along like two peas in a pod, but they always have each others backs no matter what. they appear as a happy quintessential american family from the outside but appearances can be deceiving, all the drama just happens behind closed doors. anything that doesnt fit with their brand can and will be brushed under the rug away from the publics eyes. from stints in rehab to secret children. 

the family is loosely based on the greek gods. you’re free to interpret their personalities/occupations as you’d like. ages are open so are genders. names should be classic/vintage-y vibe, but can be discussed for different branches. 

i’m thinking my romee’s family tree has only four or five kids (also please feel free to make the parents) but that leaves quite a few other ‘gods’ so if that gets filled or you’d like to go a head and make other branches of cousins/aunts/uncles/secret kids no one knows about please go for it. so tbh they all dont need to have the last name baker or can be adopted/not look alike. ive just listed the gods in all for right now, but will separate them as needed based on who their parent is/ put them into family trees. please dm me on discord moonchild#1127 to snag one or discuss.
