The boy rocked it this weekend! Got a personal best of 16ft off the dock and got his FCAT title. So, so proud of him, and the underwater treadmill and overall fitness training paid off!

So, so proud of this boy! Did an underwater treadmill for the very first time with a stranger in there with him, holding him. This is BIG for him! I’m hoping for him to do it at least twice a week to build up his fitness for our upcoming dock diving and fastCAT trial in March. I don’t have access to a heated pool and it’s too cold here right now to get him in the pool so I think this will be great to make sure he is fit.

What is your dog's temperament like?
Honestly, I would say reactive. As in, bark first, ask questions later (which I feel should be a motto for Mudis lol). He is not a fan of strangers and especially not strangers approaching me. It is something we have worked on and are continuing to work on. However, he is perfectly fine to compete in dog sport events with people and dogs all around. I just try to keep a bit of distance, but as long as he doesn’t feel cornered/pressured, he doesn’t react. His dad and brother LOVE people, but I find most Mudi are either prone to some reactivity or pretty neutral to people. Most aren’t just super, overly friendly to strangers.
At home, he’s pretty chill. Loves me and wants to be near me at all times. As a teenager, he was a little menace getting into everything, and I had to do lots of mental enrichment and exercise to keep him satisfied. Now, however, at 2 1/2 he can settle easily on the couch. He catches on in training super quickly, but tires of lots of repetitions so I keep sessions to 5mins or less.
I love him and will likely get another Mudi in the future. They’re such funny little dogs, like aliens in a dog suit who love to bark and make the weirdest vocalizations.
