Harry Potter House Challenge
Tumblr media
Hello friends and nerds,
Again, in my effort to crawl out from under my rock, I’m sharing with you the challenge I created for myself, the Hogwarts Houses Challenge...Possibly Houses of Hogwarts Challenge because that’s got a bit more bounce to it.
Anyway, the idea is that every week you do...
One Brave Thing
Tumblr media
Could be something that genuinely scares you, could also be that thing you’ve been putting off forever and will now finally bite the bullet and get done (even though you probably still don’t want to do it). Tell someone you love them; start that novel; tackle that closet you’ve been avoiding for years - it all counts.
One Clever Thing
Tumblr media
Could be a thing which challenges you intellectually (learn a new language, practice a new skill, etc, etc), or it could also be some longer term strategic planning work (because what’s smarter than helping your Future-Self out in some way?).
One Kind Thing
Tumblr media
Call your mother. Have patience. Donate. Lead with your heart. Seek to understand before being understood. You know this one.
One Thing That’s Just For You
Tumblr media
Could be a self-care thing, or it could be something to serve your Big Dream. Lean into that ambition; serve yourself; no apologies.
Here’s hoping 2020 will be...magical

The thing about California is this: at some point, you WILL be cheerfully accosted by someone tall and toned (usually named after a meteorological event or plant), and they will have very strong opinions about how best to rid yourself of Toxins. Their eyes will grow wide and serious, you know, like a ten-year-olds’ when warning you about the local boogieman. They will proselytize the latest cleanse/retreat/hot yoga regimen/organic herb tea stew/hyrdrotherapy/scream therapy/cardboard-and-cotton-fiber-only diet and tell you how much lighter/healthier/rejuvenated/more energetic/more positive/more open/less gassy they’ve been since they made that lifestyle switch 7 minutes ago.
I am from New Jersey. I am made of toxins; there is nothing wrong with me….But. I also live in LA, so let me tell you about this amazing exercise I found that will totally flush out all your toxins.
Rebounding is fucking awesome!
Here Are Things I Don’t Care about: actually fact-checking to see if all the claims made in this video are true. I am positive they are not.
What I Do Care About: It’s genuinely fun, and I actually look forward to doing this sometimes. Like, I hate moving and frequently have…whatever the day-dream equivalent of a nightmare is… in which I imagine all the stupid, freak-accident ways I could die. So, you can imagine the field day my dark side is having with this new trampoline element. BUT! It’s the first exercise I have ever done EVER that actually leaves me feeling happy. And it’s not even, like, gallows-humor type happy! Like, I actually feel better about the world after I finish a workout!*
*It is important to note here that a “workout” is the bare minimum 10 minutes required by the Whole Life Challenge, and I am at least 70% sure I’m doing it kinda wrong because, as I said, I feel good afterwards.
I do not care how many calories I burn or where they are coming from. I am pretty sure I will misjump, get tangled up in my own legs, and set off a hellish Rube Goldberg chain of events that leads inexorably to my death a la Final Destination. But I feel happier, sillier, lighter, more open, more positive, and less gassy since making this lifestyle switch 7 minutes ago. And I feel like a happier person is a less toxic person.
