I didn’t think the HALF-BLOOD (PROBABLY) was a student, but I’d recognize HER anywhere. rumor has it they’re working as a RADIO PERSONALITY, so who knows what they’re doing here. they always reminded me of GRACE HAS A GUN by KATIE PRUITT. I’ve also heard they’ve been recruited by NO ONE. but despite all that I think they’re still CHARMING, INSIGHTFUL & OBSERVANT and UNREMITTING, SYBARITIC & COVETOUS. and the SLYTHERIN alum still reminds me of velvet ribbons strung through deep chestnut locks;  a closet full of neutrals  ( you cannot be overlooked if you choose to blend in );  a row of books on your bookshelves dedicated to working with poisonous plants;  a voice sweeter than honey unleashing words as sharp as thorns;  expertly applied makeup on eyes you can’t meet in the mirror;  the lush, living solace of stolen time in a greenhouse. well, then, I guess some things never change.   ( zoe, 23, cst, she/her )

I didn’t think the PUREBLOOD (LEGILIMENS) was a student, but I’d recognize HIM anywhere. rumor has it they’re working as a CURATOR FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF MAGICAL ARTEFACTS, so who knows what they’re doing here. they always reminded me of POPPIES by FLIPTURN. I’ve also heard they’ve been recruited by NO ONE. but despite all that I think they’re still ADAPTABLE, PRAGMATIC, & CONFIDENT and DECEITFUL, HEDONISTIC & GRUDGING. and the ILVERMORNY alum still reminds me of the comfort of a set of lock-picks on your person; perfectly windswept hair even on the stillest of days; fingers always stained with ink and paint (still, you leave no trace); the careless, deafening pop of champagne bottles; burning the midnight oil, the morning oil, the midday oil; eyes that always itch to find an exit; smiles so sharp and lovely, the devil couldn’t tell you no. well, then, I guess some things never change.   ( zoe, 23, cst, she/her )

hey everyone! apologies once again for the silence here on the main this past week — issues ooc & with the main’s login are finally hopefully resolved, so we’re back to normal on my front. I know this has been a busy time of year for everyone else, so I’m tossing out a quick interest check to see how we’re all doing.

( lorenzo zurzolo, twenty-one, male ) hey, was that PETER PETTIGREW passing by? so much has happened recently; I haven’t seen the HALFBLOOD in forever, but I’d recognize HIM anywhere. rumor has it the THIRD year is studying to be a WAND KEEPER. they always reminded me of SURFACE PRESSUE by JESSICA DARROW. ( charlie rowe, twenty-one, cismale ) hey, was that TILDEN TOOTS passing by? so much has happened recently; I haven’t seen the MUGGLEBORN in forever, but I’d recognize HE/HIM anywhere. rumor has it the THIRD year is studying to be a/an HERBOLOGIST & POTIONEER. they always reminded me of OLD PINE ━ BEN HOWARD. I’ve also heard they’ve been recruited by NO ONE (━yet!). but despite all that I think they’re still ECCENTRIC, INVENTIVE & KIND and FORGETFUL, WORKAHOLIC & IMPULSIVE. and the HUFFLEPUFF alum still reminds me of sleeping in the grass on a warm summer day , a cauldron bubbling and overflowing with a green mist (—that definitely shouldn’t look like that) ; eyebrows that keep getting halfway singed off ; dark eyes, gaunt face and incoherent ramblings from sleepless nights ; every surface filled to the brim with beakers, jars and bottles full of mysterious substances ; putting an ear to the earth and listening, really listening ; smoke rings drifting up into the starry night ; walking bare-footed through the lonely woods, the only time that feels like home .  well, then, I guess some things never change.   ( jo, 22, est, she/her )

Could you give any more info about the Banneret of Beltane?

sure thing! the organization sprung up after dumbledore's public fall from grace — within a month of the deaths of heather and michael greene that led to him being removed from the wizengamot & hogwarts. individuals who previously sympathized with the order (or were members!) but agreed that there was something suspect about dumbledore and his motivations decided to form their own group dedicated to fighting back against the rise of blood purity. a common gripe amongst those who joined the group in the early days was that dumbledore always claimed to care about students, but seemingly did nothing about the increase in attacks, deaths, and disappearances of muggleborn & muggleborn sympathizing students in the months leading up to the hoax spread about him. 

 seraphina urquart, who you can read a bit more on in our npc page, founded the banneret. she’s most known for being a career politician, very well liked in the ministry, and one of the people who aided minister travers in founding hogwarts college. the banneret does carry out direct counterattacks on the death eaters when they have the intel to do so. but because of seraphina, a main focus of the organization is finding ways to push back against blood purity within the system — using the press and the ministry to enact systemic change despite the current minister being a blood purist himself.

there was a wary air still hanging over hogsmeade —

it was only september, but fog was thick in the mornings;  even thicker was the sense that everyone bustling around the village was on guard.   the memorial for professor william cornfoot at the start of the month had been   …   unauthorized.   organized by the muggle tolerant community,  former students,  anyone who mourned the death of the young muggle literature professor.   the owners & workers of the three broomsticks hadn’t warned others living and working in hogsmeade village that there would be a large gathering.   

everyone was shocked by the way that large gathering ended. 

the annual hogsmeade harvest festival,  which began every year on the night of the autumnal equinox and lasted through the last night of september,  was the sort of thing everyone looked forward to all year.   no one wanted to cancel   …   but there was no denying that people were beginning to wonder of the festivities were worth the threat of more trouble. 

there still was no suspect for the sinister purple flames that had spelled a warning in the air.   the ministry assured its citizens that there was no need to worry;   that the night of august 31st had been a harmless prank,  on the eve of the university term beginning.   minister travers reminded the wixen community that he took their safety as his duty.   he promised that if there were a reason to be fearful,  he’d tell them.   he encouraged life to go on as normal   —   starting with the harvest festival.   

so the festival set up as it always did,   in its usual spot outside of the bustle of high street,  before the neat lines of cottages began.   booths and tents went up,   ribbons of fairy-lights and cheery orange garland strung between them.   a pumpkin patch was arranged,  piles of hay for people to sit on and walk past placed with careless precision.   there was promise of a petting zoo,  a harvest market,  games for children,  seasonal food & treats,   and a special fireworks display on september 24th to celebrate the full moon.  

the wariness persisted.   but the people of hogsmeade were determined to carry on.   after all,  the minister would say if the shouldn’t.   right? 

and with that,  we’re at the annual hogsmeade harvest festival!   the current timestamp starts the evening of the autumnal equinox and lasts through the end of the month   —   so, monday, september 22nd, 1980 – tuesday, september 30th, 1980.   since this timestamp is a little shorter in-game than the last one, it’ll last a little shorter out-of-character. a reminder that you are more than welcome to continue threads from the previous timestamp,  and you are even more welcome to start threads that take place at the harvest festival, which will be lasting the whole week of the timestamp.  happy posting!
