It took four calls before Lena answered. It crawled across her side table, vibrating angrily like some persnickety insect until she gave it the attention she wanted.
You could just turn it off.
“What do you want, Danvers?”
Alex’s voice was thick.
“We can’t find Kara.”
Lena let out a slow, long, theatrical sigh. “So now you’re accusing me of crimes over the phone. At least your ex had the courtesy to cuff me in person.”
Alex’s patience was clearly short enough, and wearing thinner.
“I’m not calling you to accuse you. I’m calling you to ask for help.”
“And why would I do that?”
“Because she’s burned out her powers and we can’t find her, Luthor. Supergirl is missing and she’s powerless.”
Lena licked her lips.
“Is this some kind of weird test to see if I’ll try to kill her? An entrapment scheme or something?”
“First of all,” said Alex, “fuck you.”
“Mutual,” said Lena. “What was the second part?”
“The second part is that I know you. I know you’re pissed off at her. I also know that you don’t react the way you’ve acted because your BFF lied to you, Lena. Just like I know that buying a $875 million company isn’t what friends are fucking for.”
“I’m sure I have no idea what you mean,” Lena snapped.
“Right. Help us find her.”
“No,” Lena said, coolly. “Goodnight, Director.”
Lena stabbed the end call key with her finger, resolving to herself that L-Corp was going to release a smart phone that made it more satisfying to hang up on people.
Then she very pointedly did not go out looking for Kara. Instead, she boiled water for tea, and spread open a technical journal on her lap.
After ten minutes, she had not drunk the tea, and her attention was sliding off the abstract like the wrong end of two magnets jammed together. Rubbing at her eyes, she decided she’d had too long a day for even light reading, and decided to enjoy a news broadcast with her tea.
Of *course* the lead story was Supergirl. She tried putting on the Lakehawks game, but that had been preempted for Supergirl coverage.
She turned to the science channel. Oh, of course they’d decided that tonight was the night to premier some ridiculous companion documentary for the World of Krypton exhibit running downtown at the convention center, and of course Lena works tune in right as Kara appeared on screen, grinning ear to ear as she charitably gave some literal kid reporter the interview of her lifetime, fielding softball questions about her dead planet.
“What do you miss most?” the kid asked.
Lena saw it, saw it the way only someone who knew Supergirl was just Kara Danvers, the nerdy, dorky, kinda basic goof in a pompous costume, could. The flash of real pain in the hero’s eyes, the softness in her voice, like she was apologizing for the honest of her answer.
“Red sunrises,” said Kara.
Lena threw the teacup across the room, and it shattered across the screen, leaving the dregs tricking down the surface. Lena wished the TV had been knocked out, but the screen was shielded by a transparent aluminum she’d invented herself.
So she changed the channel, just in time to get a face full of The Princess Bride, just as Buttercup was shoving a then-disguised Westley down the hill as he shouted the line the revealed his identity.
“Oh fuck you all,” Lena muttered, as she scooped her keys from the kitchen counter.
Lena decided it was a night for subtlety, so she took the BMW, driving with the top down and and her phone in her jacket pocket, so she could feel it if someone called.
Lena drove for the better part of an hour, reflecting on the absurdity of simply looking for Kara in a sprawling city; National City had about two thirds the population of Metropolis, but it covered nearly four times the land area and was surrounded by sprawling suburbs that extended the entire metro area to the size of a small state.
This was hopeless, unless Lena knew where to go.
You know what you have to do. You know what you’ve always had to do.
Kara answered on the third ring.
“Hi.”
Her voice was tiny and small, and Lena felt like she was clutching some small fragile thing to her cheek.
“Hey,” she said, with all the softness she could muster with the top down. She pulled to a stop on the side of Ocean Avenue so she could soften it further. “I heard what happened.”
“I beat the monster.”
“I know,” said Lena. “You always do. Where are you, Kara?”
There was a beat of silence.
“I don’t know who out you up to this, but you don’t have to do it, Lena. I know how you feel about me now.”
No, you fucking don’t, Lena thought, before she could silence her own frantic mind. If you knew you wouldn’t have lied to me.
“Tell me where you are.”
“I’m where I belong,” Kara sighed, the hint of slurring in her words hinting that she’d been drinking.
Then she hung up.
A wave of anger welled in Lena’s chest, and she clenched her teeth, seizing the shift lever to throw the car in drive and head home; Kara and her sister could handle their own bullshit.
She didn’t drive home.
Lena arrived at the convention center in a frantic five minutes, parking crazily in a towing zone. Finding a way in took another few minutes, and soon the flat soles of her tennis shoes were squeaking as they echoed across the polished granite floors of the lobby.
She found Kara in the exhibit, surrounded by quiet, dark displays as she stood in front of a bannered exhibit proclaiming “RAO, THE SUN OF KRYPTON”.
Kara ignored Lena as she approached, tipping back a sloshing, mostly empty bottle of Jack Daniels to take a hearty gulp.
“Kara?” said Lena.
Kara swayed slightly on her feet. She’d gotten a raincoat somewhere and put it on over her suit, cape and all, and even from a distance she stank of whiskey. She was staring at the display in front of her, an expansive orrery surrounding a lit model of Rao. Lena had never seen her so haggard, even her lustrous hair limp sallow.
“Hi,” Kara said, taking another drink.
“What are you doing?”
“Chasing a red sunrise.”
Lena approached slowly, until they stood side by side.
She stole a quick glance. Kara had a black eye and she was swaying slightly, and Lena wasn’t sure if it was from the booze or the fight. She started to take another drink.
Grasping the bottle by the neck, Lena took it from her. Kara didn’t resist as Lena tipped back a long pull on the bottle herself. It offended her palate in every possible way but one, but it was a good way to numb herself.
“Alex send you?”
“No,” said Lena. “She just had to tell me. She knew I’d send myself.”
“Why?”
“Because she’s a lot more observant than you are.”
Kara studied her for a moment, then reached for the bottle back.
Lena looked at it. “How much of this have you had?”
“Not enough,” said Kara, taking another drink.”
“If you insist on destroying your liver, at least let me give you something that actually tastes good.”
“It all tastes like paint thinner,” said Kara.
Lena sighed. “Get in the car.”
Kara shrugged and followed Lena out, flopping extravagantly in the passenger’s seat. Lena drove in silence, using the excuse that the wind noise made it too hard to talk.
When they arrived at Lena’s apartment, she practically shoved Kara inside, and poured the rest of the swill down the drain.
“Hey,” Kara muttered.
“There’s still some of your clothes in the guest bedroom. Take that damned suit off and put on something else.”
Kara complied, trudging into the bedroom. She emerged a moment later, looking small and sad with her hands tucked up inside an oversized hoodie, wobbling giving Lena a glassy look.
As she sat down, Lena handed her a glass of wine and perched on the edge of the couch cushion beside her, gently pressing an ice pack to her eye. Kara leaned into it and let out a soft, unsteady sigh.
“Pain hurts,” she observed.
“It’ll do that.”
Then she went quiet, sinking into Lena’s couch with Lena’s ice pack pressed to her face. Lena stepped into the kitchen and pulled out her phone. Alex answered immediately.
“I have her.”
“Thank God. I’ll be over to get her in a few minutes.”
“No you won’t,” Lena sighed.
Alex didn’t answer her for a too-long pause.
“Yeah. Call me in the morning.”
“Will do.”
Kara had found the wine bottle when Lena came back, and was taking a drink form it. Lena sat down next to her and took it, drawing on it hard before passing it back.”
“What now?” said Kara.
“Is the ice still cold?”
“Yeah.”
Kara curled up next to Lena, bringing her legs up, her toes wiggling in empty air. Lena sighed and found her a blanket, spreading it over her too carefully.
As soon as Lena sat down, Kara spread the blanket over her, too, and Lena noticed that her absurd body heat hadn’t abated from the loss of her powers.
“You have tea on your TV,” Kara observed.
“Yeah,” said Lena.
It took her a few minutes to find something on television that wasn’t Supergirl or The Fox and the Hound.
(Fucking seriously?)
Nature documentaries were Kara’s kryptonite, to turn a phrase, and soon she was sleeping on Lena’s shoulder, the ice bag fallen into her lap. Lena stared down at the soft features of the surpassingly lovely little goddess snoozing against her and couldn’t help it anymore.
She started to weep softly, her shoulders hitching as she struggled to stop it, knowing the attempt was hopeless.
It got worse when Kara began to purr, a deep and soothing rumble in her chest that seemed to seep into Lena’s bones. After a moment she realized that Kara was crying too; she’d woken up.
“I’m sorry,” she whimpered. “I’m so fucking sorry, Lena. I can’t… I can’t breathe I’m so sorry. I lost my red sunrise. I can’t lose you too. I’ll do anything. Please let me make it up to you I promise I will, please.”
Lena shifted to a more comfortable position, known this was it for the night, that something had shifted. No, shattered. She was tired of being angry, of being afraid, if thinking of could-have-beens and come-what-mays. Yes, Kara had lied. Lena had lied. They’d kept secrets and been stupid and and they’d hurt each other, but nothing in the world, no principles or closely held rules or petty anger would justify watching her suffer like this.
She was careful as she cupped Kara’s jaw, avoiding the injury, feeling a flash of rage at whoever had done this to her. (That his ass had been throughly kicked by an angry Kryptonian was irrelevant; her vengeance would not be forestalled.)
The kiss was quiet and gentle, at once too soft and quick, more request than declaration, and Kara swiftly answered with one so fierce and honest and hopeful that Lena didn’t care that Kara’s mouth tasted like whiskey and wine.
When it was over, Lena found herself whispering, “As you wish.”

#supercorp #so good!
i'd like to think you could just walk into a diner in national city and see supergirl (costume and all, no fucks given) and lena luthor making out like teenagers in a corner booth
[Ao3]
The first time Supergirl comes to The Intergalactic, she’s thrown straight through its glass doors by a giant space lizard.
It’s really not how Ellie imagined meeting the city’s superhero. It’s not that she thought she’d actually ever meet Supergirl, least of all at work. Tucked away in a side-street near National City University and surviving in a cramped space, with minimal staff, and decor left from the beginning of the Space Age, The Intergalactic mostly sees harried college students and late-night party-goers in need of some fuel. Alien attacks and billowing capes are usually not on the menu.
She has no time to be disappointed by the circumstances of their chance meeting, though. She cannot feel anything beyond absolute terror, really, given the giant space lizard that just made the Girl of Steel demolish their sleepy burger joint’s entrance.
But then, Supergirl climbs back to her feet as she always does, shoulders squared, arms raised, ready to fight. She winces a little at the damage, shooting an apologetic smile towards Ellie before she’d fly up up and away, dragging the lizard into the sky with her. The sight of it is so fucking cool that for a second, Ellie is even distracted from the absolute wreckage around her.
(Then, her shoes almost catch fire and she’s brought back to the cold, hard, rubble-covered ground of reality.)
Later, when the news reports are loud with praise for another successful Super-save, and Ellie has managed to sweep up most of the broken glass and endured a hysterical call from her boss, Supergirl touches down in front of their doors again.
“Hello,” she waves with a little smile. She still has soot marks on her face, but she stands tall, impossibly dashing. “I’m very sorry for the commotion,” she says, before Ellie could even process the fact that the hero of National City is at her doorstep, again, engaging with her in casual conversation. “I just wanted to check in and see if everyone here was alright.”
“You just fought with an alien lizard,” Ellie blurts out, and Supergirl shrugs, in a hey, just another day on the job kinda way.
“Dracokardosian, actually. Doesn’t matter,” she adds quickly, then plants her hands on her hips. The Super-pose. It makes her shoulders seem even wider, the fabric of her suit straining against her upper arms. Ellie feels giddy. “Listen, I’ll make sure you’ll be reimbursed for the damage, but can I lend a hand with anything?”
“We’re fine, I think. It’s only the storefront that got hit– that you hit. No great damage, no injuries.” Supergirl smiles with palpable relief, and Ellie feels the need to ramble on, to keep her there, to bask in the glory of the superhero a little longer. The smell of still-hot frying oil wafting from the kitchen gives her the prompt before she’d even think about it. “Would you like a burger?”
Supergirl looks at her with a confused frown.
“Aren’t you guys closed up yet?”
“I mean, it’s not like we can really close right now,” Ellie shrugs, gesturing towards the gaping hole where the diner’s entrance used to be. It earns an amused little snort from Supergirl, just enough of a boost for Ellie to press on, heart beating in her throat. “Plus, you’re the only reason the place is still standing at all and I’d really like to be able to brag about having served Supergirl, like how many places get to do that?“
“Well, there’s this great patisserie on Lamarr Ave,” Supergirl says, forehead crinkling in concentration as she mulls over the answer. “And then my regular Chinese place, and this café in Paris–” She cuts herself off with a grin. “Okay, point taken. I would love one. But mind if I fix your door in the meantime?”
Ellie nods so vehemently that she gives herself a headrush.
“It’s a deal.”
Supergirl touches a hand to her earpiece, speaking low and incomprehensible before she’d speed away again and Ellie saunters off to the kitchen.
Inside, Jay is half-napping over the sink. He wakes from his slumber with dark, bleary eyes and stares in disbelief as Ellie rattles off the order, until she tells him it’s for Supergirl. He laughs first (yeah, and I’m the Virgin Mary), then takes a peek outside where Supergirl now busy welding the new doors using her heat vision, with a swarm of nanites hovering nearby for assistance. She stops for a second to wave at them: Ellie feels her heart fluttering and Jay gets all red and sweaty, rushing back to the kitchen and getting to it with such dedication as if the diner making it into the Michelin Guide depended on it.
By the time he’s done, The Intergalactic is sporting a brand new, shiny pair of doors, and Supergirl is sitting in a booth, excitedly drumming on a table with her fingers. Then, one burger swiftly turns into three, plus six sides of fries, two milkshakes, and some fried onions for good measure, Supergirl wolfing it all down at a speed fitting her superhuman appetite. She still finds the time to entertain Ellie and Jay with details of her fight between bites (his name is Spike, he was just scared), joking around with them with such geniality that makes her seem more like one of the nicer jocks from NCU, not a demigod in a supersuit. She’s sunshine personified. She compliments the food about half a dozen times (Jay blushes so hard that his face ends up looking like a ripe tomato), leaves a tip large enough to foot the bill twice, and even though it’s nearing midnight by the time she steps outside, Ellie feels a heavy pang in her heart to watch her leave. Supergirl smiles and waves them goodbye, and Ellie manages to run outside just as she takes off, yelling after her:
“See you again!”
She thinks she can see Supergirl wink at her before she speeds away.
-
The second time Supergirl visits the diner, it’s been well over a month since the space lizard incident, and Ellie has honestly given up on ever seeing the Girl of Steel in person again. It’s just past the mid-day rush, the diner mostly emptied out, the staff finally getting a breather. She’s busy cleaning the tables in the back when Lev walks up to her, poking her arm.
“Hey, am I tripping, or is that really Supergirl?”
Ellie turns around at lightning speed, just in time to catch Supergirl leaning against the empty counter with a friendly smile.
"Can I get a booth?” She asks, courteously ignoring the way Lev’s jaw is hanging wide open. “Your burgers smell so fantastic, my mouth has been watering all the way from Metropolis.”
Ellie’s shaking with so much nervous energy that she thinks she might start vibrating like the Flash.
“Make yourself comfortable wherever, I’ll be right with you!”
-
Supergirl is, well, just super.
Her visits to The Intergalactic are infrequent enough that the place doesn’t get hounded by paps, or Super-fans, or any villain of the week; arriving almost always in off-hours, when the place is almost as empty as the street outside. But her appearances are plenty enough for every single member of the staff to fall head over heels in love with her. She turns out to be just as ridiculously kind and nice as the CatCo fluff pieces would have the public believe: always praising the food, being as courteous with the staff as she is game to take selfies with them. She chats with Lev about their college studies, gives Ellie an air-lift when her car breaks down one night. She makes people smile just by walking through the door.
She’s the best part of the job.
-
When Supergirl turns up with Lena Luthor at her side one day, Ellie’s already so used to the outlandishness of their superhero regular that she’s only moderately shaken to see the most notorious public figure of National City striding into the diner with her.
She still almost bites down on her tongue and trips over, because holy shit, Lena Luthor is a sight. There’s always a touch of unreal about Supergirl’s appearance – maybe it’s the suit, maybe it’s the knowledge that she’s an alien, maybe it’s the fact that she always looks like she’s glowing from the inside. Her towering physique and artfully drawn features are awing, but they also seem just right for a superhero.
But Lena Luthor is only an ordinary human, and no ordinary human, all-powerful CEO or not, should look like a Greek goddess personified.
Ellie is so engrossed that she doesn’t even notice at first how Supergirl’s hand is resting on the small of Miss Luthor’s back, how they’re standing so close that their shoulders brush together, Lena Luthor leaning just slightly against the hero.
“Quaint,” she murmurs, low and amused, and though there’s nothing unkind about it, Ellie’s suddenly very aware of how pristine she looks in the middle of their greasy little diner. (Shit, her clothes must be worth more than the whole place.) But then, before she could get flustered, Supergirl snorts, bumping Miss Luthor’s shoulder with a grin.
“Don’t knock it till you try it.”
Their rapport is so charming that at first, it doesn’t even register with Ellie how downright smitten Lena Luthor’s smile is in response to Supergirl’s teasing.
-
Lena Luthor turns out to be super in her own ways. She’s more reserved than Supergirl, more guarded about her appearances, too, but disarmingly nice all the same. The tabloid headlines screaming ice queen and megalomaniac seem more and more ridiculous with every visit – there’s very little that says Mad Luthor about the small, overworked young woman who makes a point of asking about her day and leaves large enough tips that they can refit the whole kitchen with it and fix up the back room.
They keep odd hours those days, though, popping in for early morning coffees, or late, late night snacks. They share a plate more often than not, and the sight of Supergirl stealing a bite off of Lena Luthor’s fork becomes somewhat of a regular occurrence. (In no particular order, so does the following: Lena Luthor’s head resting on Supergirl’s shoulders, eyes fluttered shut; Supergirl leaning forward a little so Lena Luthor can press a goodbye kiss to her cheek before the superhero would fly off with a grin; Lena Luthor wiping some grease from the corner of Supergirl’s mouth with an indescribably fond smile).
It starts feeling like something that’s just meant to be.
-
Ellie doesn’t know whether it’s their first kiss or not when she witnesses it.
She’d never want to pry, either. It’s only by accident that she sees it happen at all. But she does see it, late one night, when Supergirl and Miss Luthor are huddled together in one of the booths in the back.
They look a little tired now – Supergirl’s cape is half off her shoulder, Lena Luthor’s hair let down and a touch messy, jarringly for her usually so put-together appearance – but sweet, too, as they always do, and utterly enamored. Supergirl’s hand is cradling Lena’s chin, Lena’s hands are buried in her golden mane, their lips pressing together gently, both of them smiling radiantly, lost in their own world. Then Lena presses forward a little, pushing Supergirl against her seat, and Ellie turns away with a burning face and starts scrubbing a table so hard that she risks putting a hole through the damn thing, trying to pretend she didn’t hear the breathless, overjoyed laugh echoing through the empty room.
-
It is, strictly speaking, not an issue that National City’s power couple has picked your place of work to be their makeout spot. Supergirl’s still the nicest person alive and Miss Luthor’s tipping habits have only grown more generous. They just take the booth that’s the farthest in the back, Ellie tries not to bother them too much, and if someone catches a glimpse of a red cape or a striking jawline, an emphatic glare and Just be cool, man usually does the trick.
Heroes, they’re just like us.

i wish i could telepathically communicate to all the young gays that watching Xena is worth it even with our much higher standards today for lgbt characters in media. the cast crew writers and showrunners never panicked when they discovered that their characters were driven by romantic love and were pulled back only by the network to prevent it from becoming textual. by season 4 they established them as souls in love reincarnated together forever and never tried in earnest to pair them with men. by the end of season 5 they stopped that altogether. by season 6, it is as explicit as they were able to make it given the restraints at the time, and they did so much to signal to queer audiences that Xena and Gabrielle were one of us. like Xena presenting Gabrielle, a lover of written word, with a poem by Sappho as a gift (and becoming adorably shy and blushing as she reads it).
there is so much joy in seeing just how effectively they were able to convey the romantic nature of their love and companionship despite the opposition. physical attraction is clear in the s6 episodes “Who’s Gurkhan” and “When Fates Collide”. “When Fates Collide” and “Return of the Valkyrie” are so dizzyingly and overtly romantic that i still can’t believe they pulled it off. when viewed in its full context it is really an epic and beautiful love story. :)

Superbait
Happy Supercorp Sunday, ya’ll!
6 months post finale, a short and funny scene that brings together Lena and Kara despite Kara stupidly coming out to the world as Supergirl.
Superbait on AO3
With a shatter of glass, Supergirl burst through the window of a dilapidated old factory building, eyes searching for one thing and one thing only. She let out a relieved sigh when she spotted the familiar dark hair across the open space, stuck to the concrete wall between two rusted large beams.
"Lena! I'm here to rescue you!" Supergirl shouted triumphantly as she landed in her quintessential hero pose, flashing a big grin.
Instead of the relieved look Supergirl expected, Lena looked up and frowned with an arched brow. "I told you I could handle myself."
Kara tentatively flew over and tried to ignore the harsh stare pointed at her. Lena was completely plastered to the wall with a white stringy substance, covered from toes to neck. Kara couldn’t see Lena’s arms, but she was sure if Lena was able, they would be crossed in indignation. Even with just her face visible Kara knew she needed to tread lightly.
"Ah, well, I mean it does look like you have everything under control…” Kara glanced at her friend only able to move her head. “Definitely, completely under control, but maybe you could use my help?" Kara ventured with a tentative smile as she carefully approached her friend.
Lena rolled her eyes. "How did you even know to look for me? I didn't hit my watch. I didn’t call for you."
"You didn't show up to taco Tuesday lunch…"
"Kara. I haven’t been in weeks."
"I know. But then you also weren’t at work, and…” Kara shrugged at a loss for words.
Lena still looked at Kara skeptically, so Kara plowed on. “Look, I know your mad that I-" but Kara couldn't finish her thought before she was thrust backwards, a foot away from Lena, attached to the wall with the same white, sticky material.
Kara grunted as she fought against the bonds. "Did you know that was going to happen?!"
Lena, if possible, looked even more annoyed. "Of course not! I didn’t lure you here to get trapped.” Lena shook her head in exasperation. “I didn’t even call you here! Though, maybe, in the future, if you come to rescue me, you could actually start rescuing me before getting captured yourself."
"I was just about to!" Kara huffed and strained against the cocoon. "What is this stuff made out of? I feel like spider prey."
"You're not far off. It's definitely some kind of synthetic webbing." Lena turned towards Supergirl, eyes still hard. "You can't break free?"
"No!"
"Then what exactly was your plan here?" Lena asked innocently.
Kara's lips thinned. Just as her eyes glowed red, figuring her heat vision could take care of whatever this stuff was, three guys, dressed in black sweatsuits ambled into the room.
The smallest one said, "Looks like the Super took the bait," chuckling like he won best new comedian at the laugh factory. His two goon friends joined in laughing as they approached the two trapped friends. "A Super and a Luthor. Boss is going to be so pleased." His deep, gravelly voice sounded like every low level goon Kara had dealt with. She ignored them.
"See Lena! This is what I was talking about!"
Lena scoffed and turned her head back towards Kara, ignoring the trio as well. "This happens all the time. I told you I could take care of myself!"
"They literally used you as bait to get to me!"
Lena shook her head. "I say 'I love you' and you say we can't date because you're worried about my safety."
Kara nodded.
"My safety."
Kara continued to nod.
“Well, we aren’t together and I still got taken!”
Kara’s nod looked less sure.
"I get taken hostage weekly!"
"Oh, it's been way less frequent with Lex gone."
Lena’s eyes narrowed
"Monthly. Monthly at most."
Lena let out an exasperated sigh. "I can't believe I told you how I feel."
Kara’s eyebrows knit together. "Lena, you know how I feel about you. But, I couldn't live with myself if anything happened…"
"We already went through this! When you decided to tell the world who you were, we decided everybody was going to be ok!"
"I know... I know… it's just different with you. If everyone knew how I felt about you... if we were actually dating-"
"Wait, hold on," interrupted goon number two, "you guys aren't dating?"
Goon number one jumped in, "You get tacos every Tuesday?"
"And how many times have you flown away with Lena wrapped in your arms?" Apparently, all of the goons had an opinion about this.
"You guys did that joint interview with Catco last month?"
"Honestly, you sounded like an old married couple arguing right then…"
"And that dreamy look you get whenever you see each other…." The initial goon swooned.
Lena looked pointedly at Kara.
"Ok! Ok! We get it." Kara felt more trapped by this conversation than the webbing.
Goon number two shrugged. "I don't know, if some like beautiful Ms. Luthor here told me she loved me, I think I would have done something about it." The other two shook their heads in agreement.
Kara gritted her teeth, "Yes, well the next time I need relationship advice, I know who to come to…" as Kara trailed off, a sickly green color started to spread through her skin.
The grimace did not escape Lena's notice, no matter how upset she was. "Kara! Are you okay?" Lena asked, concern overtaking hurt feelings.
Kara tried to reassure her, but another jolt of pain seared through her and she was only able to let out a groan.
Lenas head swiveled to their captors. "Is there kryptonite in here?!"
"Ahh?" They stuttered, unsure. Clearly, they were not the brains behind the business.
A tale tell green streak glowed across Kara's skin as Kara let out another strangled groan. Lena closed her eyes in fury, and muttered under her breath "ignis gigas." Immediately, blinding yellow light seemed to blast from Lena's skin as she exploded out of her cocoon. With fire exploding from her hands, she cut out Kara, catching her before she crumpled to the ground.
The captors started to slowly back away as the ring leader muttered, "Uh oh, we made the girlfriend mad…"
"We. Are. NOT. Dating." Lena said through gritted teeth. One more look at the inept goons and they turned away fully and started sprinting to the door. Lena turned back to Kara and saw the sickly green slowly start to recede. She gently swept Kara's hair from her face. "Are you okay?"
Kara looked into Lena's eyes. "You saved me."
"Of course."
“So, you must not be that mad at me?” Kara asked with toothy grin.
Lena rolled her eyes again. “Don’t be so smug.”
"I guess you aren’t the one that needs to be rescued…"
"No, if anything, it appears to be the other way around."
Kara took a deep breath. "Lena, I love you."
Lena finally let out a small smile. "I love you, too."
"I guess the real question isn’t who is going to save you if we start dating, it’s who is going to save me? I mean, normally I can take care of myself, but clearly it was nice having you around… then again the whole problem is I don’t like to think about you in trouble. Yeah, you are really powerful, but it’s-“
"Just shut up and kiss me." Lena interrupted Kara’s ramble.
Kara reached up and gently pulled on Lena’s sweater, bringing her close, happy to oblige.

And Kara looked out at the city, her city, and knew it would be alright because she had Lena by her side. And that was more than enough. She had her sun, and Lena had her world. They would always be stronger, together. The way soulmates always are.
Nothing but love.

HOLY SHIT THERES A SHOW WITH A WLW COUPLE THAT GETS MORE THAN ONE KISS?
sit.down. here’s what you need to know off the top of my head
motherland fort salem is not just a show with a wlw couple that gets more than one kiss.
Tumblr media
there are much much more than multiple kisses. there’s loads of screentime, girlfriends being softies together and being super badass together. and there’s actual mutual love and magical chemistry between them it’s crazy. no cheating and no love triangle drama. just them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MOTHERLAND: FORT SALEM is a female led show and has a lesbian protagonist FRONT AND CENTER. Raelle Collar is THE most powerful witch and is IMMORTAL (unlike the other witches on the show). she’s not a token lgbt character and could never be in the b*ry the gay trope
Tumblr media
raelle collar has an equally smart and strong girlfriend and scylla ramshorn isn’t just a side recurring character, she’s one of the main characters. yep. big fcking deal and it’s what we all deserve.
Tumblr media
also. oh my god. the women in this show.
Tumblr media
so many women. always women. women in every power imaginable. beautiful women. women. and my god look at how beautiful they all are in this promo shoot ughh goddess protect
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bonus: look. at. general sarah alder omfg and her biddies ughh (the last photo is a behind-the-scenes photo just to be clear lols)
Tumblr media
bonus bonus: it also doesn’t hurt to know that the taylor hickson (raella collar) and amalia holm (scylla ramshorn) are the biggest raella shippers

Have you watched Motherland fort salem? If you haven't watched it, I recommend it. The lead actor of the series is a Queer character. The subject of the series and the couple Raylla are so great
I've seen the first season and really liked it! Haven't started the second yet, but it's on my list. I'll watch just about anything with witches. And queer people. And queer witches.

Been reading more of @seabiscuits-us‘s fic. Fell in love with their version of Kara and Lena in their story For the Things We Lost in the Undergrowth.
Give it a read when you have time.
It’s a no powers college AU and it’s beautiful.
Kept imagining Kara with short hair… so here you go.
