Chapter 13
Dinner with the parents
Chapter 12
"Harold Edward, you have 5 minutes to be ready!!" You yelled before knocking on the glass shower door. Harry wiped the glass down and smiled at you with his dimples showing. With the moisture in the air from his shower, his hair was much curlier than normal. But there were those perfect dimples showing.
You couldn't help but smile at his cuteness but he was really wasting the limited time you had to get ready. Your parents were due in 5 minutes and Harry wasn't anywhere near ready. But it wasn't just your parents, it was also your brother and his family, 5 minutes after.
You dashed downstairs to see Lily sitting on the couch in her dress watching TV. That proved who the more organised Styles was, the 5 year old.
"Lily, could you help me set the table?" You asked her and she nodded, putting her iPad down before she got up and went to the kitchen. She was dutifully setting out cutlery and plates, a little crooked but you were thankful for her help. "Thank you, you're the best." You tell her.
"I know." She smiled before she went to sit by the door, waiting for your brother and his wife who were some of her favourite people.
Then, you took the chicken out of the oven and placed it on the table with the salad and roasted potatoes before putting dessert in the oven so it could cook. Finally, you could take off your apron and dust your dress.
"That's a very pretty dress, mummy." Lily complimented, looking at the white skater dress with cutouts you were wearing.
As she sat at the bottom of the stairs, all you could see was Harry. From the curls to the dimples, she was mostly him. "Thanks, baby. Are you excited to see little Wren again?" You asked, thinking about your brother's 6-month-old baby.
You and Lily had been back to New York, where your brother lived, around the time he was born so you met him then but she hadn't seen him since.
"Yes!" She cheered. "How did they get him here though?" She continued.
You giggled, thinking about their suffering. "A lot of sleeping meds and earbuds." You said, half-jokingly half-seriously. She didn't understand so she gave you a blank look and waited for a real answer. "In a plane."
Ding dong the doorbell sounded and you opened the door to reveal your parents. "Grandma!" Lily said as she jumped into your mother's arms while you hugged your father.
"It's nice to see you." Your mum greeted you as she pulled you into a hug and Lily hugged your dad.
"Yeah, how was Hawaii? Let's go sit in the lounge so we can talk." You told them as you lead them down the hall. "We can go on a house tour once Y/b/n turns up."
"I'm excited to see it, it looked very grand as we drove up." Your dad complimented and you nodded. "Where is Harry?" He asked.
"The disorganised Styles is still getting ready." You joked and they laughed. They began to briefly fill you in on their time in Hawaii and before long the doorbell rang again.
All of you got up to see your brother, his wife Mel and Wren. Once you opened it Harry was standing at the bottom of the stairs. He looked hot, dressed in a suit jacket, shirt and pants. He placed a kiss on your cheek before shaking your dad's hand, your brothers and hugging your mum and Mel.
Everyone said 'good to see you' to each other. Lily remained fascinated with Wren who was asleep in his car seat. He had the cutest little mouth and nose and lips and fingers and toes and maybe you just really wanted a baby.
You showed everyone around the house, minus Wren who slept in the lounge. "Oh, we need this in our house," Mel said to you as you took her into your wardrobe and bathroom. Lily had your parents trapped in her room, showing them every inch of it with Harry who was talking to your brother about his security system.
"I know, I was beyond happy when Harry showed me all of this." You told her as she looked around the room.
She looked at you with a frown. "Wait, so this wasn't in the original plan? He did it himself?" She asked and you nodded. "Wow, keep him."
You giggled adding. "I'm planning on it." with a smile. "Should we go find them?" You asked and she nodded.
"Y/n, why didn't you tell me Harry was so knowledgeable about tech?" Your brother asked as you walked back into the room.
"Honestly, I didn't know he was." You told him and Harry pouted at you. "But he's very clever." You confirmed and his pout turned into a smile.
For the next few hours, you sat around the table, eating and talking. Lily was growing tired now so you excused yourself to take her to get ready for bed. Usually, you would feel bad leaving Harry with people you knew but your parents still obviously adored him.
She didn't want to miss out on any fun but she was almost asleep in her seat. So tired that it only took one story until she fell into a deep sleep.
Back downstairs you poured yourself another glass of wine. "What are you two going for summer?" Your dad asked once you were all sitting in the living room, Harry's arm was wrapped around your shoulder as he pulled you close to him.
"Well, we're going to see my parents once Lily finished Pre-K," Harry told them, you could see the wide smile on his face.
Harry speaking about future plans was a sure way to get butterflies fluttering in your stomach. He was just authentic Harry.
"That sounds exciting." Your mum said and you nodded with a smile. "I was thinking, we could have a big family Christmas with your family as well, Harry." She suggested.
"We would love that," Harry said, almost jumping off the couch with excitement.
Once you decided to all split up for the night you showed everyone to their rooms on the bottom floor and went up to your room with Harry.
"You know, I was thinking maybe I want to change what I do for work." You said to him as he walked out of the bathroom.
He nodded slowly before he pulled up the covers and got in. "What do you think you'd want to do?" He cautiously asked.
"I was thinking acting, I know it sounds silly."
"Not at all, I think you'd be good at it," Harry noted and you nodded, still feeling silly about your choice. "Not that I mean it in a bad way but if you just quit your current job then later on you can decide."
"What would I do before then?" You asked him, unsure.
He played with his fingers like he did when he was nervous. "I mean, you could have a few years break? Be a mum for a while. I'm about to be done for a little while and then we could all go and tour together." He suggested, making your heart jump. Did you want to be a stay at home mum?
Spending that much time with Lily had always been a dream but there was a chance you'd get bored.
"It might be alright." You hesitantly agreed. "But what would we spend all day doing?"
Harry's hand crept up your thigh, pressing down a little. "I can think of a few things." He said with a wink.
"I still feel like I would need a job or something to do." You told him honestly. The thought of doing washing all day was not exciting.
"Yeah, why don't we figure it out later?" He suggested and you nodded in agreement. "I'm excited about our future though."
"Me too." You said as you placed a kiss on his smiling lips

Chapter 12
Settling in
Chapter 11
Watching everything in your house get moved was an odd feeling. It had been the only constant in your life since Lily was born, it was so much more than a house to you.
But with all the stuff slowly dripping out, packed up in boxes, being put on a truck and taken across the city, you couldn't help but think about when you first moved in.
Back then the house seemed like such a weird place to be living; you knew hardly any of your neighbours, you still had to google maps the address on your way home and when you looked out the window you saw the beach.
Now you knew almost everyone on your street, you could find any house from anywhere and the view out the window was just the same.
"Are you ready to go?" Harry asked as he walked up behind you in the kitchen, making you jump in fear.
You nodded. "Yeah, can I just walk around and say goodbye first?" You asked, moving to the lounge.
"Sure, baby. I'll go get Lils." He said before walking out to find Lily, who had gone three houses down to say goodbye to her friend. Although she would be seeing her at pre-k when Harry drove her over for the next week and a half and you slept in.
Tears welled in your eyes as you walked around. The only time you use to ever think you'd be moving out is when you were going to a retirement home or moving back to your hometown.
You stood in Lily's room for the longest amount of times. All the memories of her growing up hit you at once. Like a movie flashing before your eyes. All of those nights you'd spent desperately trying to get her to sleep and all of the days she slowly grew into the most beautiful, caring and amazing child you'd ever met.
"Come here," Harry said as he walked in saw the amble evidence of tears rolling down your cheeks. He wrapped his arms around you and it's a correlation to how secure the house made you feel.
"I'm sorry... I just... there's just.... this house just means so much to me." You told him honestly, it took a while to find the right words and you really didn't want to be crying on such a happy day.
He shushed you. "It's okay, love." He breathed out as he held you before he pulled you away from his chest and wiping the tears from your eyes. "Now let's go and start a new chapter of our lives." He told you and you nodded before walking out the front door with him.
As soon as you got to the new house everything felt right. You did think there would be some small doubts but there were absolutely none. It already felt like home.
The house itself was big. With a bottom floor containing 3 bedrooms, 2 lounges, a kitchen, a study, 4 bathrooms as well as a big outdoor space with a pool.
The pool was one of the best features. It had 3 separate slides, each of which connected to 3 of the bedrooms on the second floor. On the ground level, there was a separate pool bathroom but the pool itself had a built-in grill and bar area where you could swim up to get drinks. That was along with the huge movie screen.
There were 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor each with its own ensuite as well as a lounge. The 3rd floor was significantly smaller, with only a movie room and library which had a secret staircase to a mezzanine floor with a glass ceiling. It gave you the best view of the stars and city.
"Can I look at my room?!" Lily asked quickly and Harry nodded before walking up the stairs after the jogging little girl. You followed the pair. "Oh my god!" She exclaimed before you walked in to see a whole new bedroom. It had a massive princess carriage with a bed inside as well as a castle that had stairs going up. At the top of the castle, there was a small bookshelf and a slide that went down to the desk at the bottom.
Lily ran around the room like someone had given her 3 cups of coffee. And some cocaine. You noticed the majority of her clothes in the wardrobe, her teddy bears and barbie dolls already there.
"Hope you don't mind," Harry said as he came up behind you.
"Tell me next time, Haz. She loves it but I wish I knew." You told him and he nodded before pulling you into his side. "What's going to happen when she grows out of this?"
"There's another room on this floor with a walk-in wardrobe." He told you and your eyes widened a little surprised by his thoughtful nature. "Ready to see our room?" He asked as he pulled you out to Lily's room.
"Lils, we're going to see our room. Don't go on the slide." You told her and she nodded before running up to the two of you and hugging your legs before rushing out a quick 'thank you' and going back to playing with her toys.
Harry just smiled. "Don't worry about the slide, they are all safely locked with a PIN number." You were swooning about how thoughtful he was for someone who had only had a kid for 7 months but it was a good look on him
"I love you, Har." You said as you continued to follow him to your room.
"I love you even more. Now close your eyes." He instructed and you complied, putting your hands over them before he opened the door and led you inside. "Open." He told you.
As soon as you remove your hands from your face you saw how sophisticated it looked. There was a massive be and ottoman with a couch and table in the corner. "Look at this," Harry said as he pushed a button and a tv came up from the foot of the bed.
You'd barely glanced down that end but now you saw the massive window with a view of the whole city and a door that had a few steps down onto a balcony that was big enough to have a table and chairs.
"I'm in shock. It's beautiful." You told him and he smiled, looking pleased with himself.
"You're beautiful. Now wanna see the closet?" He asked and you nodded, wondering what else he had in store for you. The closet was like a whole house. First, there was a seemingly normal shoe, bag and accessory closet with a massive mirror and all your makeup neatly organised. Then some stairs led up to a whole top floor filled with your and Harry's clothes.
"Harry, this must-have taken forever..." You trained off.
"That's why I didn't get home until late. It was mainly the boys that did the final touches." You thought Harry not being to be home until 8 was a normal thing, it did worry you.
But now it was making sense, him insisting on going to lunch before you got here was just time to get it ready.
"I love you so much." You told him as you brought your lips together. "Not even for the materialistic aspect of everything you've done. Just that you care enough about us to do this."
"I just want you two to be happy. Now come and look at the bathroom, you sap." He joked as he walked through a door which led into a big room with a bath, fireplace, shower, two vanities and a toilet. There was also a door to the bedroom.
"Harry!" You screamed. "It's all so amazing." You told him before you leant into his side. His arms wrapped around your waist and pulled you closer.
"I'm glad you think so." He said before he kissed you again.
"Mummy! Hazzy! Can we go on the waterslide?" Lily's voice came as she ran through the room, making you pull away from your kiss.
Lately 'Hazzy' was her nickname for Harry and while he was delighted she was calling him that, he was gunning for the title of dad.
"Yeah!" Harry agreed and you smiled at the two of them. "Go get changed and I'll come with you for the first slide, then we can play in the pool." Lily ran off with the biggest smile on her face and you turned to Harry with an equally big smile on yours.
"We better go get changed then." You winked at him before going to the closet.
"Can you pretty please wear the green one, please?" He begged as you searched through your swimsuits and briefly picked up a dark green one.
It made you inwardly roll your eyes at him. "I am not wearing this." You continued as you held it out. "It's way too complicated and a little slutty." He just looked annoyed as you showed him another option. "This one?" You held up one of your favourite yellow bikinis.
"I like it, but can you wear the other one when we go to the hot tub tonight?" He asked, almost like he was telling you.
You laughed at him. "Who says I'm going in the hot tub with you tonight?" You finished changing and walked across to see Harry who wasn't ready because of how distracted he was checking you out.
He picked up his iconic yellow shorts, which ironically matched your bikini, and began undressing. "Oh, I'm definitely getting you in the hot tub tonight." He said as if it were a challenge. His low voice made him so much more attractive.
After he finished changing you stood there kissing for a few minutes.
Lily raced in a few seconds later. "Let's go! Let's go!"
"Alright," Harry said as he got dragged to her room.
"Hold on, I'm going down to the pool, then I'll film when you come down." You said as you grabbed your phone and raced downstairs, quickly trying to find the perfect angle to watch them pop out of the waterslide.
"Ahhh!" You heard Lily's voice a second before she and Harry came splashing out into the pool. "That was so much fun, can we go again?" She asked, looking up at Harry who held her because of how deep the water was.
And that was how the rest of the day went, Lily going down the waterslide before running up the stairs to go again.
Finally, you got out of the pool and left Harry to supervise Lily while you made dinner. That night as you, Lily and Harry ate dinner, while looking out over the LA skyline, everything was perfect.
And, later in the night, the hot tub with Harry was just as perfect.

Chapter 11
Changes
Chapter 10
Sunday mornings were something you were accustomed to spending alone for many years. But now Harry lay next to you and it was the best feeling in the world.
The sun streamed through the shutters and dusted over his face. The early morning rays highlighting those sharp cheekbones people obsessed over. You noticed how his jawline slightly bulged as he clenched his teeth in his sleep. The warmth of the house left him in only boxers, showing off his tan, toned, inked chest which had stayed so similar all this time.
His skin looked flawless and you mindlessly found yourself tracing the inked shapes while he was asleep. His long, black eyelashes rested heavily under his eyes while his perfect curls sat on his forehead, looking blonder in the morning light.
As you continued to admire Harry he stirred and wriggled around so you ducked your head so he wouldn't wake up to your eyes staring at him.
"Knew you were looking at me, ya know?" His rough morning voice came from next to you and made you blush. Even through closed eyes, you could see the smirk on his perfectly pink lips. It was something he did whether you were nervous or embarrassed.
"Was not." You mumbled, voice also rough from the hours you hadn't talked for.
"You were totally checking me out." Harry teased in a sing-song tone, making your cheeks redder.
To cover yourself from the embarrassment you put your hands over your cheeks and eyes.
"S'not my fault you look so gorgeous in the morning sun." You mumbled. knowing if you said it louder his ego would inflate bigger than you were willing to let it be.
Harry placed his hand to your hands and peeled them away from your eyes. "You're not allowed to compliment me until I tell you how beautiful you look." He told you as he held your face.
His face was so close that you were sure if he had a single flaw you'd be able to see it. Still, there was no evidence of that.
"You're still beautiful." You replied before painfully slowly closing the gap and letting your lips fall onto his, slowly.
"Can we have a serious talk about something?" Harry asked after you had spent a few minutes kissing and cuddling.
Your initial reaction was to gulp and pray that he wouldn't be giving you bad news. As you nodded you felt your heart speed up and your breathing fall out of sync. There were a few silent breaths taken to calm yourself down before Harry started talking.
"I know we haven't already gone the right way but I really like where we are now and I just want to be a part of your and Lily's lives every day. You just both mean so much to me. So there are two things I want to say." You felt your nerves rising once he said that. "I don't even know what order to do this in or how to say this." He sighed and you giggled at his adorable nature. He raised a finger to his lips to think. It was honestly so cute when he did that.
"Say it, Haz, it's just me." You weren't sure how much more you could take.
"Iloveyouandwillyoumoveinwithme." He blurted out and your eyes widened but you can feel your lips pulling up into a smile.
"Harry." You say as you place your hands on his cheeks. "I love you so so much and I would love to move in with you." He just smashed his lips onto yours and pulled away while you're both in a grin.
"I'm not sure where we'll move, I only have a bachelor pad but I'll find us the best home money can buy." He promised.
One of his words stopped you. "Hey, you're not a bachelor!" You squealed and rolled his eyes, still grinning. "But I don't need to have the most expensive house, I just want somewhere we can wake up in the morning and cook chocolate chip pancakes together. Somewhere I can get annoyed at you for taking too long in the bathroom and somewhere I'm excited to come home to." You gushed, excited by how exciting the idea of moving in with Harry was.
He just laughed before his jaw dropped. "Wait, we can't move in together. I haven't even met your parents." Harry suddenly said and you had to stifle a giggle.
"Do you have amnesia? Because you have met them before." You joked remembering when you had this conversation with Harry before Lily met his parents. Once again, Harry rolled his eyes.
"Haha, you'd be very sad if I actually had amnesia." He sarcastically laughed and you nodded, in agreement. "What I meant was I haven't seen them in so long and when we saw your mum last she was asking if we'd come to visit them."
You nodded. "Yeah, I'm sure Lily would love to see them again." The last time she had seen them was a while ago. Although your mum said you should all catch up but Harry wasn't there. "Oh, I'll text her." You told Harry and reached for your phone before pulling up your mum's contact number and typing a quick message.
"Let's look for houses!" Harry yelled excitedly before quickly getting out of bed, putting on a pair of pants and going to get his charging laptop downstairs.
Now that your personal heater was gone, you got up and pulled a hoodie over your frame before you followed Harry downstairs.
He had apparently already found a perfect house. "Look at this one!" He said as he pulled up a picture of a massive white house with 9 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
It was insanely big and definitely a bit over the top. "Harry, that house is worth 28 million dollars." You said wearily.
"So? I want a nice house and I've got enough money. I just want where we live to be nice." He told you, sincerely and you nodded.
"Alright, but seriously price limit of 15 million." You told him and he nodded slowly, although you were pretty sure he wasn't agreeing. His efforts to find the best house were appreciated but it didn't matter. Any house you got to live in together would be perfect.
Harry continued his search while you sat beside him and checked your emails. Ding. Your text message notification sounded and Harry glanced over at you, unsure of who you could be texting at 8 in the morning.
"It's my mum." You told him and he nodded, swivelling on the kitchen island stool to face you. You briefly read the message before relaying it to Harry. "They're in Hawaii until next weekend." You sighed.
Harry looked a little defeated until his head perked up. "Best idea ever!" He announced, it made you giggle. "We could decide on a house, take a private jet to Hawaii and see them then come back and by the time we're back here they can have everything moved from here to our new house." His suggestion made you laugh. "I'm serious." Your heart dropped at how rushed out it sounded. Clearly, he wasn't used to the lifestyle you were.
Of course, you wanted to move in with Harry but it would be much more convenient if it didn't happen until Lily was on summer break.
"Harry..." How would you phrase this? "If it were just us then I would jump at the idea but we've got Lily and I can't rip her away from school and her life here." You tried to explain. Lily hadn't even been told of this yet.
"I'll drive her over to pre-K every morning." He promised. "And any time she wants to have play dates, I'll bring her." Another promise.
"That's sweet of you, H. But it's so rushed finding a house and getting moved so quickly. Can't we wait until the holidays?" You stuck to your point, maybe because you were stubborn but maybe because you thought it was stronger.
"The holidays are in 4 weeks, that's a whole month. I can have us a house by tomorrow so why wait?" He whined. "What if Lily takes the remaining 4 weeks off pre-K and then we spend some time in Hawaii, or anywhere you like." He bargained.
"I don't know, Haz." You honestly told him. "What about we look for a house and try to get moved in as soon as possible. We'll wait till my parents go home through LA and they can stay in the new place and have dinner." You told him in a tone that he knew meant it was the final plan.
It caused him to pout. "But, baby, I wanted to go on a family holiday." He continued to whine.
"Okay, let's go to Europe in the break then." You suggested and a grin quickly appeared on his face.
"Can I show Lily my hometown?" He cheered and you nodded. "I can't wait to show her where I used to live, the school I used to go to, the park that I used to play in and that one tree I used to snog all the girls under." He said as if it was his glory days.
You scrunched your nose at him. "Maybe skip the tree bit." You suggested and he nodded. "Plus, I don't want to think about you kissing other girls." You knew he had, obviously, you just didn't want to think about it.
"There was really only one girl." His smile widened and you felt bitter jealousy fill you from head to toe.
"Yuck." You rolled your eyes and you knew he could tell it was getting under your skin. "I bet she was like 20 years older than you with kids." You made your own snide comment at him, knowing his type.
"She does have a kid but I'm a little older than her." You felt sick as you talked about it but Harry looked like he was having a lot of fun.
"You kissed someone with a kid?" You asked, you wanted to guess who it was and considering you knew a lot of Harry's friends you thought you had a good chance.
"Well she didn't have one back then, she does now though." He explained and you nodded, your mind still racing as to who it could be.
"Was she with the father when you kissed her?" You asked, this had almost turned into an interrogation.
All he did was grin and the air in the room changed. "Yes."
"So she was cheating on him?"
"Nope."
A bad feeling set into your stomach, twisting it uncomfortably. "So you fathered a child?" All you could feel was shock and you couldn't even breathe.
"Do you have amnesia? Because we have a kid." He started laughing once he could see your panic and mimicked your words from earlier that morning.
Finally, you were able to get a breath back in. "Fuck, Harry. Don't freak me out like that." You managed to get out in between the breaths as it all clicked together. Harry was still cracking himself up and there was no way you could be mad at him after hearing that sound.
"You're too easy to freak out, baby." He told you before going back to his house search.
Harry didn't do anything lightly, by the time Lily was downstairs he had already been on the phone with his real estate agent and had booked some houses to see today while you made breakfast for everyone.
"Morning, Lils." You smiled as you picked her up and hugged her. Once you put her back down she went over to her breakfast stool, next to Harry.
"Hey, where's my hug?" He whined as she smiled at him before sleepily falling back into his arms.
"There." She told him once she sat up again, ready to eat.
"Lily, we have something we wanted to talk to you about." You told her and she nodded, still eating. Harry was paying more attention to her now, desperate for her reaction. "How would you feel about moving into a different house with Harry?"
Her face turned sour and she glared up at you. "No, no, no! I want to live here!" She screamed at you which confused you.
"Lily, don't yell." You warned but she was far past caring about the rules.
"I am not moving house! I like this house and I want to live here forever!" She yelled, loudly as she got out of her chair. "I do not want to move!" That was the last thing she yelled before she got off the stool and stomped away,
Only a minute later you heard a loud door slam. Wow, her teenage years were going to be fun if this is what she was like at 5
"She got your drama queen temper." You joked to Harry, but he was wearing a serious face.
"Y/n, she doesn't want to move. What are we going to do? You can't move her if she doesn't want to." He told you and you shrugged.
"She'll be fine. She's just adjusting, it happened when I asked if she wanted a big girl bed. She had a big tantrum and then begged me to get her one the next hour." You explained and he nodded but still looked concerned.
It had been a good 20 minutes of the two of you eating breakfast and looking at houses until Harry asked about Lily. "Can I go talk to her? And you come?" He asked one question quickly followed by the next. It was cute he wanted you to be there.
"If you want." You shrugged as you got up to go up the stairs. Harry followed but overtook you to get to Lily's room first.
Knock, knock. He gently tapped on the door. "Lily, can we have an adult talk?" He asked. You could tell he was anxious by his clammy hands that were shaking.
"Yes." She sighed and he breathed out before he opened the door.
Once you walked into her room she sat there, on the bed with her arms crossed. Harry sat down at the end of her bed while you hovered in the doorframe.
Harry stalled as he tried to start the conversation, twisting the rings on his fingers. "What's wrong with moving?" He asked her.
"I like this house and I liked my room and I like my school and I like my friends and I like the beach." She listed, briefly looking up at him.
"Okay, what do you like about this house?" He asked and she took a little longer to think of an answer.
She was kicking her legs back and forward. "It's got a pool, a tv, my room and it's where I have always lived." You did understand that it was hard to ask her to move from the only house she knew.
"What if I promised you a pool, tv and new bedroom in a new house?" He asked and she waited while she thought about it. "I know that you only remember this house but I really want us to all live together in a nice, big house. I promise we can make lots of new memories." He promised again but Lily still hadn't answered. "I'll even invite your grandma around." He told her and she immediately looked up.
"And grandpa?" Lily asked hopefully.
"And grandpa." He confirmed. "Maybe we can see some of these houses and then if you hate them so much that you never want to live in them, I'll find a better house for us."
"Yes, please, I want to see them." She agreed and you could feel Harry's smile radiating around the room.
"Thank you." He pulled her in for a hug and you walked over to join them.
"Wanna hear something else cool, Lils?" You asked and she nodded, looking up to break the hug. "We're going to visit your Nana and Pop in the place Harry grew up." You told her and she started grinning widely.
"Oh my gosh! Can I see Auntie Gemma!? Will we go on a plane!?" Her questions came at a million miles an hour as she jumped around on her bed. "Wait." She stopped and sat down. "Where did you grow up?" She asked him.
He stood and walked over to the world map on her wall. "This place right here called Holmes Chapel in England." He told her as he looked at the map and her face turned into a frown as she got up to see the map herself.
"Is England is this one?" She asked as she pointed to Russia.
"Look to your left and it's the islands in the sea." You told her and she ran her finger along until she ended up at England.
Lily looked very curious. "It's tiny. How will we get there?" She was very concerned.
"By plane." You told her before Harry jumped in.
"Private plane."
"We didn't discuss that." You warned but he just shrugged and you glared at him.
"What's a private plane?" She asked and you snapped out of your glaring.
"It's when it's only you and the drivers and the seats are massive and you can play around as much as you want," Harry told her and she grinned. She'd only been on a few planes and it was never in first class.
"Yes, please, can we do that, Mumma?" She asked eagerly. She started to give you the puppy eyes as Harry caught on and copied her actions.
It freaked you out how alike they looked. "Fine." It was all they needed to confirm their victory and hi-five.
The houses you were going to see that afternoon with Harry were more than beautiful. They reminded you of the types of house you and Harry used to party at together all those years ago.
"Lil, we're here." You said as you leant into the back seat to unclip her sear belt so she could get out.
Harry had already raced around to open your door, in his usual gentleman fashion. Every time you looked at him it was like you felt love bursting out of you. His basketball shorts and tank top looked anything but basic on him.
After you got out of the car he opened Lily's door for her and she hopped out, quickly gawking at the massive house in front of her.
"You like it?" Harry asked her.
Her face was quick to change from shock to absolute euphoria. "Is this the house we're moving to?!" She squealed as she ran in circles around his legs. It made both of your giggle and Harry reached his hand out to give you a hi-five.
"Maybe, depends it's right." You told her and she nodded before leading the way inside. You followed with Harry a step ahead, going to the real estate agent to shake hands.
They talked about the houses advanced features while you took Lily to look at the front garden. The real estate agent took a phone call, leaving you three to go explore the house.
Harry led you upstairs to look at the bedroom. "Lily, this could be yours." He said as he opened the door to a massive room that she would struggle to fill if you brought her everything she'd ever wanted.
"Wow!" She cheers as she walked over to the window and looked at the LA skyline. It was a nice view but you knew the master bedroom would have an even nicer one.
"I can see that pretty brain working overtime, what are you thinking?" Harry said into your ear as he snaked his arms around your waist and rest his head on your shoulder. The two of you stood there, by the doorframe, watching your daughter.
You twisted your head so you could smile up at him. "It's really nice." There was a slight pause. "Lily loves it but I think she's going to love any house so that's not really a concern. I'm excited to see what other houses we're going to see. What about you?" You told him honestly.
"I love the kitchen and lounge but I think we need more bedrooms. And the pool isn't that big." He remarked and you looked at him with raise eyebrows.
"6 bedrooms isn't enough?" You questioned and he shook his head. "Lily, you and I only need 2, plus one for visitors. So that's 3, maybe 4." You explained.
He shook his head again. "What about when we have more kids?" He asked and your mouth fell open.
The two of you had never spoken about this before, but you hadn't even spoken about having Lily. At least 5 years ago he had said he wanted a few. As soon as Harry realised what he said he shut his mouth and you could see him thinking about what to say next.
To make it better or to take it away.
Finally, you had to pluck up the courage. "You want more?" Harry was now blushing furiously as he tried to think of something to say.
"Honestly, yes. I want to be there to raise them with you." He admitted. He had spun you around now so he could look into your eyes and have an honest conversation. "But it's not a deal-breaker." He quickly clarified.
It was the best answer you could have heard. "Harry, that's exactly what I want." You watched the huge smile appear on his face and he struggled to not wrap you in his arms.
"So, what are your thoughts?" The real estate agent asked as he walked up the stairs. Lily rushed out of the hidden room she had found with a huge smile on her face.
"I love it." She told him, which made him chuckle.
"It's nice, can we give you a call later once we've seen some others and decided?" Harry asked and the real estate agent nodded before you all left the house.
The rest of the day consisted of looking at 4 other, just as grand, homes, getting lunch and Harry subtly driving past one of the top private schools in the whole country in an attempt to get Lily to see it. Luckily for you she didn't, only because there had been no prior discussion between you and Harry about where she would go.
"So, team. what house do we think?" Harry asked around the dinner table later in the evening, ready for an inaugural family meeting.
"Second one!" Lily quickly yelled. The second house was built with two wings of bedrooms and a kitchen/lounge area in the middle. It was Lily's favourite because in the kid's wing there was a massive rock climbing wall.
"But would you like to be that far away from us every night?" You asked, knowing what problem was going to occur later.
She shook her head reluctantly. "No." She confirmed and Harry crossed that one off his list.
One down, four to go.
"So that means no to the 4th one."
Two down, three to do.
"Okay, now we're going to decide what is most important for us." You said, taking charge and reading over the features of the remaining 3 houses. "Do we want a spa?" You asked and Harry nodded quickly. A bit too quickly. "Not going to ask why." You said as you sent Harry a wink.
That decision crossed another house off. Three down, two to go.
"Okay, so 8 bedrooms and 3 lounges or 7 bedrooms and 4 lounges?" You asked Harry and Lily who looked at you like they were watching an intense sports match.
"7 and 4." They both said at the same time. Four down, one winner.

Chapter 10
The Storm
Chapter 9
Something on Tuesday morning felt off. Harry had stayed over again, much to your delight. He didn't want to overstep the boundary lines but everything was falling into place between the two of you, it was like you had gone back to your old relationship. Warm and cozy was all you could feel.
But that morning was cold. Harry's side of the bed was cold, at only 6:30. While he'd not stayed over much you still felt like it was out of character.
You tried to push it out of your head and got out of bed to pack Lily's lunch for Pre K before making her breakfast.
At the bottom of the stairs, you peeked into the lounge to see Harry hunched over on the couch, phone in hand. "Are you okay?" He popped his head up and just started, blankly.
He was a lot different from his usual morning clinginess when he wrapped himself around you, not letting you get up.
"Get out your phone," Harry told you, the tone of his voice made you do it quickly. His tone wasn't mad but upset or a little hurt. You quickly pulled out your phone from your pyjama shorts and waited for his instruction. "Go on Twitter." That sent your head racing, Twitter had always been a wild place of quick-spreading news and all you could think about was what was written about you and Harry.
Lily never crossed your mind.
Harry watched you for a few minutes while you looked through the stream of tweets. "Oh, shit." Finally, you snapped up to meet Harry's eyes again. "This is really, really bad."
"I know," Harry stated, patting the seat next to him so you sat down beside him. "It started with an article on the Daily Mail with a photo of me and Lily from last night, you know when I was carrying her to the car?" You nodded at that. "I didn't even realise anyone was there and I think it was posted after we went to bed. Then, like most things about me, it blew right up on Twitter this morning in the UK before it was morning over here. Pretty much the whole world was tweeting about it before we woke up."
"It would be good if your fans slept." You joked, trying to lighten the mood.
He chuckled a little. "It's the top trending hashtag. The press is going insane and management have flipped out. I'm not even sure what the fans are thinking, maybe mad or confused or even happy."
Harry dropped his head into his hands and left his phone on the couch beside him. It was still unlocked and you could see more tweets flooding in. If you spent the whole day reading the tweets that were already tweeted, you wouldn't finish reading them for the whole day.
Something like the was bound to happen, Lily looked exactly like Harry so it wasn't hard to put two and two together, but you thought you'd have a few more months. Especially last night because you hadn't seen anyone who even looked interested in who Harry was.
"I'm really sorry, Haz. I know that was not how you wanted it to come out and it's not how I wanted it to come out either." You told him as you wrapped your arms around him, desperately trying to console him.
"I have to do an interview on Wednesday, you know, trying to explain it all. Until then please promise me something." Harry informed you and you nodded, anything he wanted you would agree to. "Please don't look at Twitter until it's all sorted. Or Instagram." He told you and you nodded in agreement.
"Okay, but you're also on a ban." You told him, knowing people would be saying worse about you but you hardly wanted him to see all the bad things that were being said about him.
"I promise." He agreed, before getting up. "I should go, though, got lots of music stuff to do." He told you as he walked to the door, you followed and waited for him to put his shoes on.
"I'll miss you." You told him before he spun around. His hands were instantly on your waist, yours moving to his chest. He kissed your lips for a few seconds, giving you the same electric feeling you always get around him.
He smiled once he pulled away. "I'll miss you more, baby. And I'll call you later." He left you standing there, wondering how wrong it was all about to get.
~
You woke up on Wednesday, hoping that it was all a bad dream. The worry was almost as bad as Monday. It was made worse by the fact Harry wasn't there. However, the little voice jumping on your bed urged you to get up.
"Mummy, mummy, get up." Lily cheered as she jumped on your bed making you sigh. Sleep-ins were a rarity in your house but no matter what you were grateful to get up to the little girl.
Rolling over to face her you opened your arms so she could fall into them. You placed a kiss on her head and inhaled her smell, it was something you never wanted to forget.
"Are you excited to get your nails done?" You ask her and she nodded quickly. She had been talking about it since you told her what was happening.
"I'm getting pink, remember." She told you excitedly, it wasn't her favourite, yellow was but she was decided.
After breakfast and you both got changed, Lily was in the car with you as you drove to the nail salon. Your nerves were getting worse as you got closer but you arrived 7 minutes early, also 7 minutes before Harry's interview. Thankfully a radio interview limited the face to face contact Harry could have with an interviewer. However, it was live which meant no editing.
"Gem!" Lily said as she saw Gemma. You could tell from dinner that they had clicked. Lily loved listening to her tease Harry and their personalities were a lot alike.
"Lily!" Gemma replied as she picked her up and hugged her. They really looked a lot alike and the few baby photos you could remember of her as a child rendered them identical.
They hugged and you gave Anne a hug. "I'm so sorry about what happened with the press." She whispered and you smiled at the fact that after so much time she still cared enough to say something. It was an ode to how close Harry and Anne were.
"It sucks, but Harry's interview is in a few minutes so hopefully it'll get cleared up." You told her and she nodded. You doubted it would but a little social media cleanse was nice.
Soon after you hugged Gemma who only said, "It'll be alright," to which you nodded, knowing, in the end, it would be.
There was a little bit of resentment towards the press because you wanted to be able to tell the world on your terms.
The nail bar was nice, modern and sleek. Unlike Lily's bold neon pink, you went for a plain white which you figured looked best with summer outfits. Summer was a very exciting idea, having all that time to spend with Harry and Lily.
Once your nails were done Gemma and Anne insisted that you and Lily came with them to lunch, which you gratefully agreed to. It was an incredible feeling to be fitting back into their family after so long apart and you were thankful they were so accepting.
You could tell Anne was itching to talk to you, a more nervous silence falling over the atmosphere. As soon as you got to the restaurant and ordered Anne made Gemma take Lily to the park across the road to play. There was an odd mix of gratitude and fear you were feeling.
"Did you know the first night Harry told me that he had Lily, I was over at his place and I just started crying?" She started and you shook your head before she continued her story. "I was mad at him, so upset with the whole situation but I felt a lot of sympathy for you both. I wouldn't tell him this but you went through worse, raising her all alone which is why I was mad at Harry. I don't know all the details of your breakup but I feel for him when he was in that state." She continued while you nodded, out of all of her qualities she was so emotionally intelligent. "I wanted to talk to you, but he wouldn't let me."
"I know." You said, there was still the unresolved guilt you felt. Anne had an amazing granddaughter she hadn't met until a long time after your parents had met her. But thankfully Anne was much smarter than to be jealous. "I wish you guys had met her before now." She could tell it was the truth. "I even wish I stayed with Harry or went back to tell him or just anything that didn't lead to today."
Anne wasn't going to let you take the fall. "I've never blamed you for what you did. I still blame him for driving you away but I know how hard it was for him." It was nice to pour your heart out to someone who was so neutral despite hearing her son's grief for years.
"It's nice to have someone else to talk to about this." You smile over at her and she returns it.
"Mummy!" A small voice called and Lily came walking over, hand in hand with Gemma. They were both wearing the same famous Styles smirk.
"Hey, how was the park?" You asked her, just before your phone started ringing. Embarrassed, you pulled it out to put it on silent but your eyes glanced at the name.
Harry <3
You look around at everyone else. "It's Harry."
"Take it," Anne told you quickly. "It'll be important or he'd text." She definitely knew him very well. Gemma nodded, taking her seat next to Anne while Lily sat next to you and coloured her colouring book.
"Thanks." You smiled, answering the call as you walked away to somewhere quieter. "Hey." You spoke into the phone.
"Baby." Harry's low voice came over the phone, making a shiver come over your spine. "Did you hear my interview?" He's quick to ask.
By now you had pushed open the doors and you were standing outside. Thankfully the wind wasn't too cold on your skin. There was a little park bench near the restaurant where you sat, phone to your ear. "No, how did it go?"
"It was okay. They asked about Lils, obviously. How old she was, you know the general stuff." You could tell there was something off in his voice, something he wasn't telling you so you didn't reply until he spilt the beans. "Then there was some personal questions about what happened between me and you and why Lily was never known to anyone." He continued, getting quieter.
"Are you alright though?" Even if you didn't want to hear the answer, you had to ask.
"Yeah, I am. I think it's good the story has been set straight. It's going to be better now though and I'm excited to talk you all out without the paparazzi finding out." The air felt lighter, and if you could see yourself you'd see how much more relaxed you looked.
You nodded before realising he couldn't see you. "I mean they'll still probably going to write some terrible stories."
"Yes, and maybe don't go on social media or those celebrity gossip websites, my team is still saying they're still slamming me." His tone was an indicator he was hurt about it, which made you hurt because this whole situation was partly your fault.
"I'm sure they're slamming me too." You laugh, unreciprocated.
His pause was an acknowledgement of his agreement. "Don't want you to get upset, so please don't."
"I should go, we're having lunch." You tell him, thinking back to who you left inside.
"Yeah, how's it all going though?" He asked, still wanting to talk.
"It was really fun, we're had our nails done, we talked a bit and now we're at lunch."You tell him and you can almost see him nod.
"Ooo, anything about me?" He asked quickly, he seemed back to his normal self.
"Hmm, maybe. Is there anything else?" You asked him.
"Can I come over later? I don't really know how this works." He sighs, it made you giggle a little bit about his shyness.
You thought about it for a second before you replied. "I think it works like it used to when we didn't live together but we might as well have been." You confirmed, only imagining his smile.
"Right, so I come over, we have sex, go to sleep and then have some more sex." His crude comments made your eyes widen.
"Harry Edward Styles, I meant you can come over whenever you'd like but maybe I'll retract that." You smirked to yourself as you heard him sigh.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I should also go but don't forget who's name you'll be screaming tonight."
There was no point in trying to reprimand him now. "I'll see you later." You said as you ended the phone call. It made you feel warm inside, as cliché as it was, knowing you'd be the one he fell asleep next to made everything seem better.
You walked the few metres back into the restaurant and talk a seat down at the table. Quickly you realised how long you had been on the phone with Harry.
All Lily, Anne and Gemma looked up at you. "What happened?" Anne was quick to ask.
"He just wanted to talk to me about the I-N-T-E-R-V-I-E-W." You spelt out so Lily remained unaware of what was going on. Not that she seemed to be paying attention to what was going on, she was still colouring.
"Oh, did he say how it went?" Gemma pipped up. She was always curious, that was something you learnt when you dated Harry all those years ago and she was asking how everything was going. Not that you minded it.
You nodded. "He said it was good to get it all out but the media and fans are still in a bit of a frenzy so he's said no social media for me." You let out a sigh, being in mock frustration.
"He's very sweet when he's in love." Gemma didn't even realise the words she was saying until they came out, that was when your eyes widened.
"Gemma," Anne growled, stopping her from talking about how much Harry loved you with a disappointed head tilt. You found it hard to keep the thoughts from racing after that. Did Harry love you? Did you love him? Did his feeling from all those years come back? Had it been long enough?
You hoped the answer was 'yes' but your mind forced some rationalisation. When you first told Harry you loved him you had only been together for 2 months and you had almost been dating him for 3 now. Maybe it was more innocent now.
After what Gemma said, the conversation slowed down a bit but by the time lunch was over you were on top of the world. Everything finally felt like it had fallen into place.

Chapter 9
The calm before the storm
Chapter 8
The early morning wind whistled through the door as you and Harry lay there in bed, thinking about how your life had ended up. Between the 10 hours since he put Lily in bed there had been multiple rounds before some sleep. The balcony door had been open since after your first round, due to the smell of sex that would have otherwise clouded the room.
"So, how long do you think we have?" Harry asked and you looked over at him with your eyebrows raised, confused at what he meant. He took a puff of the joint in his hand. "Until something goes wrong." He clarified and you noded, taking the joint from his hand.
You took a puff before coughing, smoking weed was definitely not your thing but it felt right after sex. "A hot minute." You said, winking over at Harry who nodded in agreement.
"You're a hot minute." He said, rolling over so you end up under him.
"Cringe and I'm too tired to go againnnnn." You sighed and wriggled out from under him and get up to make some breakfast, picking up Harry's shirt and putting it on.
Harry got up after you. "Heyyy, what am I going to wear?" He asked you, but you just shrugged your shoulders and gave him a look. "Maybe you just want me to be topless." He said, shooting a wink over at you.
"Maybe." You walked over to him, only to give him a quick kiss before walking off downstairs. Harry came down after you, wrapping his arms around your waist as you leant over the kitchen bench.
While standing around the warm kitchen you remembered that you needed to get Lily up, so she doesn't sleep in for too long and then not sleep at night. You instructed Harry to cook pancakes, giving him the recipe as you go to get her up.
"Lily, baby, wake up." You said as you walked into the darkroom, pulling the curtains slightly open while trying to not trip on toys. Lily stirred slightly in bed and sat up on the pillow. "How did you sleep?" You asked her.
"Good thanks, Mumma." She replied as she rubbed her eyes. It didn't take long until she got out of bed and made it before lining up her soft toys around the pillow. She always claimed she needed to be close to them all at night. You watched as she got her slippers on and dressing gown even though it wasn't very cold. "What's for breakfast?" She asked as she walked down the stairs.
"Uhh, Harry was cooking your pancakes." You said in a quiet voice, still walking on eggshells around Lily about Harry and his relationship with you.
"Harry's here!?" She screamed as she ran into the kitchen and wrapped herself around his legs. His astounded eyes met yours as he reached down to pick her up. You stood there and smiled at the two of them, Harry's arms all the way around her without even having to stretch. His muscles looked so flexed as he held her up and you could just see the veins in them. Something about that was incredibly attractive.
"Like what you see?" He asked and Lily removed her head from his neck and looked at you before she ran her hand through her hair.
You shrugged but blushed once you've turned around to cook Lily's pancakes.
"Do you want to help me set the table?" Harry asked Lily who was still attached to him. She noded but clung onto him like a koala. He adjusted to this and carries her around the kitchen as he looked in all the draws to find plates and cutlery.
Once Harry was finished he put sleepy Lily down on a stool at the kitchen bench and went to the fridge to get her a glass of juice which she started drinking as you served her a few pancakes.
"What do you want to eat?" You asked Harry who was now standing behind you in the kitchen, his hands around your waist with his chin nuzzled into your neck. You looked over at Lily who wasn't even watching you two.
"Sit, I can cook you something." He told you and you hesitantly agreed as you went and sat next to Lily. "What do you want to eat?" He asked, mimicking what you had said a few seconds ago.
"I'd love eggs and bacon. It'll all be in the fridge but I can help if you want?" You offered but Harry shook his head before he reached into the fridge to get the eggs and bacon.
You watched him intently as he cooked, the way his hands grasp each object, the way his muscles flex as he picks up different objects even the way he walks around the kitchen. He really was just gorgeous.
Once he's finished cooking he served some up for you and some up for him before he walked around the counter and took a seat next to you, just as soon as Lily was finished eating.
"Mumma, can I go play?" She asked, her hands covered in the maple syrup that was on her pancakes.
"Sure, baby, just wash your hands first." You told her and she nodded before, hopefully, walking off to the bathroom.
"She's such a sweetheart," Harry said and you turned your attention to him.
You nodded and took a bite of your breakfast. "You haven't spent any time with her while she's overtired and grumpy."
Harry stayed for the rest of the day, playing toys with Lily and just hanging out.
By the late afternoon, Lily was drawing a picture at the table while you and Harry sat together on the sofa of the connected lounge area.
Harry was looking at his phone while you read a chapter of your book until he spoke. "Do you want to meet my parents?" He asked as if you two were 21-year-olds in college.
"You know, I do actually know your parents." You said and Harry rolled his eyes. "But yeah, uh should we bring Lily?" You were kind of unsure about what he was going to say.
"Yeah of course. I mean I know we've just started dating and everything but I want her to meet them." He told you honestly.
"Okay. When?" You asked.
Harry looked over at you nervously. "Um, tomorrow night?" His voice was quieter than normal. Internally you thought about all the problems with going out to dinner on a Monday school night. "It's alright, dinner will be at 6 so she won't have to stay up too late," Harry said, already thinking like a dad.
"Okay, I'm sure she'll be so excited." You said looking over at him as he smiled. "I'm already worried." You acknowledged as you turned back to your book. Harry's quick to grab your chin so you're looking into his eyes.
"Baby." He cooed. "They already love you. Don't worry about it." He hummed before placing a quick kiss on your lips.
Monday did seem to drag on but by the evening you had been stressing about it since Harry asked about it. It was only 4:30 you had already showered and were getting Lily dressed into her dress before you did your make up hair. Lily knew where you were going and she seemed alright with it.
You hadn't seen Harry in person since he left on late Sunday afternoon but he said he was running a few errands before he came to pick you and Lily up.
"Look how pretty you look, Lily." You stated as you got her to twirl around in the mirror making her smile. You felt a little apprehension about her wearing her very expensive best dress, knowing she usually ended up a mess by the end of dinner.
"Can I go play now, Mumma?" She asked and you nodded before she walked over to your bedroom door.
"Answer the door if it's Harry, baby." You told her and she nodded before walking to her room. She knew she wasn't allowed to open the door unless you asked her to and even then she knew she had to ask who was there.
The rest of the time you spend doing your hair and makeup and before you know it it was 5:30. You had to leave in 10 minutes and Harry wasn't even here. The last thing you needed to do was put on your square-neck floral dress.
You were about to yell out to Lily and ask if Harry was here when you heard a deep voice by the door. "You look hot, baby." You almost jumped a foot high as you quickly spun around to glance at Harry.
"You scared me." You placed your hands over your chest.
"I saw that." He countered and you rolled your eyes. He strolled over and placed his hands on your hips and you swore you could feel the electricity running through your veins. "Don't roll your eyes at me, baby." He responded sternly and you raised your eyebrows as if you're challenging him. Before you can say anything else he's placing heavily dominant kisses on your lips and you almost moan out his name.
Eventually, you pulled away in enough time to check your watch. "Shit, Haz, we're going to be late."
He doesn't seem too concerned so you had to pull him out of the house along with getting Lily to put her shoes on.
"So, Lily, how are you feeling about this?" Harry asked the little girl who was sitting in the back, kicking her feet up and down.
"I want Dino nuggets to eat," Lily told him making both of you laugh.
"You can get nuggets but Harry meant how do you feel about meeting his parents." You informed Lily, who thinks for a few minutes before answering the question Harry originally asked.
"I'm excited." Harry looked over at you with raised eyebrows but you just shrugged.
Once you got out of the car and into the restaurant you were at least 6 minutes late which would have made you worry more than anything but by the time you saw Anne, Robin and Gemma standing in the foyer of the restaurant and they were hugging you, nothing else mattered.
"Y/n, you look gorgeous!" Gemma said as you pulled away from the tight hug you two were sharing and you couldn't return the compliment fast enough.
After you and Harry had hugged his parents and sister you looked down at Lily and introduced her. "And this is Lily." You said, stepping to the side so they could see her hidden behind your legs. The introduction wasn't as awkward as you imagined
"I'm Anne, your grandmother." Anne introduced herself and Lily smiled and ran over to hug her which Anne gladly accepted.
"So you must be my grandad." Lily deduced as she stood in front of Robin, with the same smile on her face that you look over to see Harry is wearing.
"Well if you would like to call me that, I would love that," Robin told Lily as she wrapped her arms around his legs.
Suddenly Harry's deep, low voice was in your ear. "Wow, someone raised a social butterfly." Even just his hot breath on your ear made you tingle.
A blush set on your cheek but you just shrugged and went back to watching Lily who was finished hugging Robin and stood in front of Gemma with her head cocked to the side.
"So, who are you?" Asked Lily.
"Well, I'm Harry's much cooler older sister." She joked and Lily looked at Harry, almost asking if Gemma was serious.
"I would have said we're both equally cool," Harry defended Gemma stuck her tongue out at Harry before also getting her hug from Lily.
"Shall we go and sit down then?" Anne asked, now that you were all standing around.
There was a round of nods and once Anne gave the waitress her name you were escorted to your table. Harry kept his head down, trying not to catch anyone's eyes so he didn't get recognised.
Anne had requested a booth in a private area so you were taken to the back. Over the past few years, Harry had learnt how to avoid people paying him too much attention and so he sat facing the booth.
"What are we drinking, ladies?" Anne asked once you'd looked at the menu.
Gemma was quick to jump in. "Cosmos, or maybe a bottle of wine."
"I'll go for either." You added, scanning your finger over the menu.
~
Dinner went seemingly well and soon the 6 of you were outside in the parking lot standing by Gemma's car because Harry didn't want her the one to be walking to her car alone. By now Lily was being carried by Harry who was 100% wrapped around her finger.
Everyone's saying their goodbyes when Gemma asked. "Y/n, do you and Lily want to come out for manicures with me and mum on Wednesday?" The idea that Anne and Gemma wanted to hang out with you and Lily made you so happy.
"Yeah, we'd love to." At this point, you weren't even thinking about Lily needing to go to preschool.
"Cool, well I should go," Gemma said as you all gave her one last hug.
"We should as well." Anne decided so you, Harry and Lily say goodbye to everyone and wave as you walk to Harry's car.
As you walk to the car you could almost feel like someone was watching you but you decided to ignore it and let Harry put Lily in the car as you sit in the front seat and look at the dark night sky, almost falling asleep in your seat like Lily already was.
When Harry's car door opened and shut you jolt your head up as Harry sits in his seat as he puts his seat belt on.
"I'm so happy we're back together and I know mum, Gem and Robin are as well," Harry stated as he drove the car to your house.
"Yeah, I'm really happy too." You didn't feel like adding how sorry you were that you kept Lily from him. In all honesty, you were still so sorry about keeping Lily from him and thinking about it made you really mad at yourself.
That night as you lay in bed with Harry next to you and Lily one room away everything felt right.

Chapter 8
Some news
A/n: slightly mature content towards the end, viewer discretion advised
Chapter 7
For the past few months, you had been going out on dates with Harry, usually during your lunch break so it didn't make Lily curious about where you were going in the night. Although there had been a few nights out. Your relationship was now official to both of your friend groups and Harry’s family. Your family still didn’t know, and you did want to tell them but it had never been the right time.
"Hey, Ellie." You say into the phone. Harry’s text of come out with me tonight xx H had caused the call, as you needed someone to watch Lily.
"Y/n, how are you?" She asks politely.
"I'm good, I was wondering if you're free to babysit Lily tonight?" You ask getting right to the point.
"I'm really sorry, I have my SAT exam tomorrow." She tells you and you nod, as much as you needed her to babysit Lily, her school was infinitely more important.
"Thank you anyway." You tell her before hanging up. That crossed out any teenagers you knew who could babysit Lily. Maybe Eleanor?
A few moments later and you're on the phone with Eleanor only to get an "I'm sorry, Lou and I are going out. Ask your mum." She suggests and you agree. Harry was the only person who knew that your parents didn't know that you were together again.
“Hi, mum.” You say once you’ve worked up the courage to dial her number. Lily looked up at you from the stool at the kitchen island she was eating her breakfast at when she heard you say ‘mum’
“Hello, love, what’s happening?” She asked and you smile at just hearing her voice. While it hadn’t been that long since you talked to her it always felt like a long time, and now with the dating news acting as a wedge, it felt longer.
You picked at your nails before answering. “I was wondering if you’re around tonight to watch Lily?” There was hope that she wouldn’t ask too many questions but you knew that was foolish. Lily did know you were going out and she stopped asking why once you told her she might get to see grandma.
“Yeah, I’ll watch her any time. I do have to go to a hair appointment this morning but I can come up down.” After your mum found out you were pregnant she saw no issue in retiring with your dad in Santa Barbara, just under two hours away so she could be there to help out with Lily but she was also far enough away. “Where are you off to?” She continued, a certain tone laced in her voice that you hadn’t heard since she last tried to set you up with some young guy.
“We can talk about that later.” You tell her, thankful that LIly could only hear one side of the conversation.
At 6 o’clock you were finishing making dinner, shrimp tacos requested by LIly. Once you’d put a couple of tacos on the plate she was downstairs sitting exactly where she did at breakfast.
Ding Dong! The doorbell sounded, you had to tell LIly to sit down while you go and open it. She reluctantly agreed, only due to the fact her food was there.
“Honey!” Your mum said as she embraced you in a quick hug in the foyer. “You look very nice.” She mentioned, looking at your white lace dress. Oh, she was definitely close to figuring it out.
“Hi mum, thanks for coming.” You told her and she nodded while she took off her coat and placed her small handbag on the side table.
“Anytime. But you do have to tell me where you’re going.” She didn’t even miss a beat asking you about what was happening. You hoped she’d drop it or forget but knowing her character, you knew there wasn’t much of a chance.
You suck in a deep breath, she’s your mum, she loves you and she loves Harry. You tried to convince yourself it was going to be okay. “Harry and I are dating again.” You couldn’t even look at her to see her reaction.
“Oh. Oh wow. That is surprising news.” That was neither a good nor a bad reaction and you still couldn't meet her eyes. “I’m happy for you.” Finally, after your heart couldn’t race any faster, there she was. Smiling at you widely.
“Thanks.” You smiled back, before pulling her in for a hug.
Once she pulled away she looked over your dress again. “I knew I’d seen the dress before.” She smiled, knowingly. You have had it since you started dating Harry but you hadn’t worn it since you broke up. “Does Lily know?”
“No.” You shook your head. “She doesn’t even know he’s her dad.” Her face was flooded with disappointment. “We are planning on telling her soon.” You rush out.
She nodded, finding a more joyful expression. “That’s good, she’ll be okay.”  You knew it was wrong to not tell her but before you could confide more in your mother, Lily was there hugging her grandma.
Lily immediately dragged her off to the kitchen and you followed, setting up a plate for your mum. Harry’s text dings through Outside, gorgeous x H
“Okay, I’m going.” You announced. “I love you and be good for grandma, she’ll tell me if you’re not.” You told Lily as you placed a kiss on her forehead.
“I love you too.” She waved you out. And with that, you left your mum and Lily in the kitchen before you slipped some white heels on and headed out the door.
Once you’d walked out the door it did feel like you had entered a whole different life. What you felt for him was like nothing you had felt in a long time. Of course, Lily was your entire universe but this was different. Loving Harry was earth defying,
He was wearing a basic, white dress shirt and some black skinny jeans. It was almost like you were back in 2015. Between his outfit and the little smirk pulling at his lips, he looked very hot as he leant against the bonnet of his Range Rover.
“Hey, baby.” Harry winked before he stood up off the car. A light blush littered your cheeks at his nickname. Even that was hot. He walked a few more steps over and once he was close you wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him in for a kiss. His arms went to your waist as he stroked up and down. “I’ve missed you.” He pouted once you broke the kiss.
“I’ve missed you more.” You smiled up in him, as usual, you got lost in his eyes.
~
You’d never had a bad date with Harry and that night wasn’t an exception. Harry had ignited a confident spark in you and things felt like they were slipping back into how they were all those years ago.
As you drove into the driveway home you noticed the time, 9:26. Lily would definitely be asleep by now and you hoped your mum was downstairs watching tv and not cleaning your house like she so often did.
The car was shut off but you both sat there, in silence.
Harry’s hand trailed up your thigh, slightly bunching up your dress and you raise your eyebrows at him, a little concerned but certainly not pushing away his advances. He only smirked and continued.
Harry’s very expert fingers were barely on your core for a second when he moved them off. You were quick to pull it back onto you. “Please can’t we just have sex in the back of your car now.” You half begged, half demanded of him.
He snorted. “I would definitely have you begging for it in the back.” The wink he shot you was hot and did make you wet. He continued after he saw the desperate look on your face. “If I didn’t care about you and want our first time to be special.” His hand cupped your cheeks before he pressed a sweet kiss to your lips, only to pull away when you tried to deepen it.
“You do know it wouldn’t be our first time, you dork. We have a child.” You giggled at him, it broke up the sexual tension in the room.
In reply, he rolled his eyes and gave you an annoyed look. “You know I’m trying to be sweet and sentimental and you’re calling me a dork.” He nudged you with a different smirk.
After you playfully added. “Guess who won’t be getting any tonight.” Before you turned away from him and got out of the car.
He was quick to follow you and he slammed his door shut as he raced after you. “I fucking hope you’re talking about someone who’s not me.”
You just threw a smile back at him.
Once you got inside your mum was already right next to the door and gave Harry a huge hug. “Harry, it’s so nice to see you again. I’m so happy you’re together again.” She exclaimed and you chuckled. She was kind of ruining the mood.
“It’s nice to see you as well, Y/m/n,” Harry said, surprisingly chilled out about the ambush from your mum. But he had always liked your mum and she always adored him.
“Lily’s inside. I’m going to drive home now but I’d love to go out for dinner sometime.” She said. “All of us together hmm, once you tell Lily.” She continued as if you didn’t know what she meant. Before you knew it she grabbed her things and walked to her car before she drove out of the driveway. You glanced over to Harry to see him waving at her.
“Now where were we?” Harry said, his attention was back on your and his hand went to your waist.
“Just about here.” You told him as you placed your lips on his. His hand travelled up and down your waist, just touching your breast each time which sent tingles through your body. With your lips attached you two move and before you knew it you were pressed against the stairs while Harry continued to touch you all over.
There was something thrilling about making out with Harry in the dark of your house like you were a teenager again.
“Mumma!” You heard a voice say that immediately made your eyes snap up to see Lily stood at the top of the stairs.
~
2 minutes later and Lily was sat on the stairs while you sat a step-down and Harry stood 3 stairs down at the bottom.
Now it was time for the hard part. “You know how Madison has a mum and a dad.” You started and Lily nodded. This had always played on your mind as the best way to tell her. “When you want to have a baby you have to have a man and a women and that’s who you call mum and dad.” You told her and she nodded again.
“But I don’t have a dad.” Lily quickly jumped in with a frown on her face.
“Yeah, you do.” You confessed and her mouth dropped open. “You just didn’t know he was your dad because... well because some adult stuff happened.”
By the look on her face, you knew she was about to guess and you cringed as you waited. “Is it Uncle Lou?” Harry started laughing out loud and really quite hard. You shook your head at her while you giggled at her.
“No, Lil, Harry is actually your dad.” You quietly said but her face just lit up.
“Uncle Harry?” She asked before pointing towards him and both of your faces dropped.
She had suddenly created a very weird tension. “Yeah, but who told you he was your uncle?” You asked her quickly with a lot of concern. It would be very awkward if she called him Uncle Harry around your families.
“Lux.” She simply stated. Right, that would figure as Lily would have gone to see Lux after she met Harry at Disneyland and asked who he was and that was the answer Lux could give her.
Harry was still finding it hilarious when you looked over at him and glared, telling him to stop laughing. You knew she’d have more questions but for now, she needed to sleep.
“Could you tuck me in, Harry?” She asked and you raised your eyebrows at Harry who nodded towards her. Lily always managed to surprise you with how she reacted to different things.
Harry went to tuck Lily in just as he was about to go she piped up with a question that caught his attention. “Who are your mum and dad?” He wasn’t really sure what to say, feeling like he was stepping on eggshells around what you wanted him to tell her or not tell her.
Instead, he took a seat on her bed and figured he might as well be honest. “Well my mum is a fantastic lady named Anne and my dad, well the man I consider to be my dad, is named Robin.” Lily nodded in content with his answer but Harry felt the need to continue. “I’m sure they would love to meet you, they are technically your nana and poppa.” Lily’s mouth dropped a little.
“So I now have a mum and a dad and a grandma and a grandpa and a nana and a poppa.” Harry nodded. “Wow, this is the best day ever. Can I get a puppy too?” She wondered.
Harry let out a laugh. “Why don’t I talk to mummy and convince her?” He suggested, he’d suggest anything to set he smile on her face again. It was like a little ray of sunshine.
“Yes, please comvice her.” She said, mispronouncing ‘convince’ much to Harry’s adoration.
Once Harry went to tuck Lily in your took off your shoes and went up to your room, in the hope Harry would figure out where you went. You changed out of your dress and put on some silk PJ shorts and a matching PJ top before you went to sit up in bed.
By the time Harry got to your room, you were almost drifting to sleep. “Hey.” You smiled once you saw him appear in the doorway, signature smile and hands in pockets.
“Hey, I should go.” He said as he walked over and placed a kiss on your forehead. Now he stood next to you on the edge of your bed.
“Stay.” You shook your head and grabbed a hold of his hands. At this point it wasn’t even that you wanted to sleep with him, you just wanted to be around him.
His face changed, smirking down at you. “Sleep in your underwear and I have a spare toothbrush.” You said, in the hope of persuading him.
He walked over to your closet and started taking his clothes off. “So you’re trying to get me to strip, are you?” He smirked and sent you a wink once he noticed you staring at him. It wasn’t your fault he was built like a Greek god.
“No, but you did start something in the car.” You murmured, blushing slightly as you went back to look at your phone but he was just so hot.
Harry climbed in bed next to you and started running his hand up and down your thigh. Eventually, you gave in and rolled over so you were on top of Harry. “Lights on or off?” Harry asked, putting his hand on the light switch.
“On.” You smirked before you leant down to kiss down his chiselled chest.
“Good to know nothing’s changed.” He sent you a smirk as he looked up at you. You smirked on his skin.
And that night was the ending of everything going back to normal

Chapter 7
The date
Chapter 6
“Goodbye, Lily. Don’t stay up too late.” You smiled as you planted a kiss on the boisterous little girl’s head.
A week had passed since you took Lily to the zoo with Harry. Unusually, she was still talking about the event. It was only unusual because normally she would forget people you took her to meet within a day. But something was different with Harry. Maybe it was the biological connection but something stuck.
Despite all the question she asked, you tried to avoid any questions due to your own uncertainty about what was going on.
Now, she was being left with her babysitter, Ellie, while you went out on a date with Harry. It had taken him a good part of the week to convince you to but he wore you down in the end.
Usually, your first call when you needed Lily looked after was to your mum but if she knew who you were going out with there would be a lot of why, where, what and how questions. And, again, you were uncertain about the answer.
With a final look back at Lily, you smoothed out your dress, checked your makeup and walked out the door. The dress you picked was red and flared at the hips in a skater dress style with a tight waist and lace around the neckline.
“Y/n, you look very pretty,” Harry commented as you shut the door with a smile. He was clad in a blue button-down shirt (a few buttons undone, naturally) and some white dress pants. He looked as good as ever.
You had to push the guilt out of your head as you walked to him. “Thank you.” You said before you placed a kiss on his cheek.
He opened the door for you and got in the driver’s side to drive. The plan you had agreed to was to get dinner at some French restaurant Jeff had bragged to Harry about before going for a walk along the beach.
As you looked over at him, you felt like a young adult again. Just out of University and accompanying him around Europe with the boys on tour. It was a feeling you had been without for some time.
Once you got into the restaurant you admired the white, brick walls and rustic, wooden furniture while Harry told the maitre‘d his name.
Suddenly, his hand was on your waist and you jolted under his grasp. “On a date with an axe murderer?” He joked, voice rough in your ear.
You turn your attention and body back to him, glaring as you do so. “Joking, joking.” He hurried out, watching as your face turn from an eye-roll to a smile. It was now that you realised how close he was. Close enough you could smell the mint on his breath mixed with the expensive Tom Ford Cologne he used to wear. Close enough you could kiss him. Then he pulled back with a “Ready?” before guiding you to the table once you nodded, still in a trance.
It was further back in the restaurant and more secluded. He pulled out your seat and you sat down before he took a seat as well. The waiter quickly placed menus in front of you and poured some of the white wine sitting in an ice bucket on the table into a glass for each of you. You looked at Harry with a confused face but he doesn’t notice.
Reaching out, you picked up the bottle once the waiter had left. It was a bottle of your favourite wine. There was no way it was a coincidence, the wine type or company wasn’t special but it was the 2006 bottle that made you sure of the fact Harry had something to do with it.
He smirked at you while you studied the drink. “How did you know?” You asked, turning your attention to him.
“Know what?” He sounded as condescending as ever. Of course, he knew and he thought those pretty lips and devilishly handsome looks were going to make you drop the question.
You held the bottle up to him. “This is my favourite.”
“Coincidental.” He smirked as he lifted his own glass up to take a sip.
You shook your head. “There’s no way. You knew. I’m not sure how but I know you knew.” He kept up his facade, no wonder he made such an amazing actor. “You couldn’t have known from before because I used to drink-”
“Manhattans, very classy.” He finished, staring right into your eyes in a way that made you nervous but also comfortable. “You’re going to have to get me a lot more drunk before I reveal my secrets, Y/l/n.” He teased.
“Better get drinking then, Styles.” You counter the calmness you were expressing was nothing like the butterflies going crazy in your stomach. The whole vibe felt like it changed but that was just the way it was dating Harry Styles.
Once you’d finally pulled your attention off him, you turned it to the menu in front of you. It was heavy and very posh with a sleek, black look.
Manicured fingernails opened it and you began reading to decide what to get. “I don’t know what half of these words are.” You said, looking back to Harry who was glancing over the menu himself.
“Do you trust me?” He asked, looking seriously at you before taking another sip of his wine.
“Is this Aladdin?” He nearly spat out the wine as he laughed.
“Do you?”
You were curious about where this was going. “Yeah.”
“Okay, good.” He smiled before calling the waiter over. The waiter wrote down all the things Harry was saying before taking the menus.
You didn’t even want to know what he ordered, it was just going to be a surprise.
“So tell me about...” Harry continued to ask you questions while the two of you drunk wine before your dinner arrived.
Talking with Harry now was different than when it was about Lily, you hadn’t thought of her all night but it was nice to have a break for once. The conversation wasn’t too deep and it kept along the lines of what your lives had been like, your new hobbies and your new ideas of the world.
With all the time you’d spent apart from Harry, he not only got more attractive but wiser and somehow he was an even better conversationalist. You figured he’d be able to talk to anyone he met without it being awkward.
“What about boyfriends?” He asked and you sigh aloud. The topic wasn’t one you usually talked about on first dates but Harry wasn’t just a usual guy. “Do I sense a story?” He pushed eagerly.
“Not really, I mean no one has good dates all the time. Guys just seem to freak about Lily and I definitely don’t regret her but most single 26-year-olds don’t have a kid.” You explained, it wasn’t a conversation you were trying to avoid on purpose but it was shaping up to be awkward.
He nodded. “You’re so good for putting her first.”
“Any mother would.”
“‘s not strictly true and you’re very modest.”
Although the topic wasn’t the least awkward thing you could have talked, Harry managed to keep it casual.
“And here is your food.” The waiter announced, making you break your look from Harry.
What he placed in front of you, you didn’t know. “Bouillabaisse.” The waiter told you and you nodded, even though his French didn’t mean anything to you.
You missed what the waiter said as he put Harry’s meal down in front of him but Harry thanked him anyway and he left.
With a lot of trust in Harry, you took a spoon and turned your attention to the colourful liquid with prawns and mussels with some pieces of bread. It looked appetising and you hadn’t realised how hungry you were.
You took some onto the spoon and put it up to your lips. The taste was delicious, rich in flavour and perfectly spiced.
Once you’d looked up again you noticed Harry was looking at you, trying to study your face. “It’s really good.” You told him with a nod of your head. His expression turned to a smile quickly.
You continued to eat the fish, prawns, mussels and used the bread to soak up some soup while Harry also ate some of his soup, a cream coloured liquid with what looked like pieces of meat in it.
“Try some of this.” He told you, offering out a spoon full of liquid close to your mouth. You put your own spoon down and let Harry move his spoon into your lips.
The soup itself tasted alright and you let the flavours remain in your mouth as you took a bite of whatever the meat was. It tasted sort of like a mussel but the texture was different.
Harry was looking at you for your reaction. “It’s alright but what’s in it?”
There was a slight smirk on his face and you knew there was something wrong. “Escargot.” He pronounced in perfect French. As soon as it had sunk in the flavour was corrupt.
“Snail?” You asked once you’d swallowed it, distaste now on your face but Harry was still smirking about it. “You’re the worst.” You tell him as you shook your head at the little laughs he was letting out.
“I know you were enjoying it before you realised what it was.” He bantered back, still with that golden smile on his face.
You just rolled your eyes at him and went back to eating. The food was very delicious and you were convinced Harry was a genius for picking this restaurant.
“Being here really reminds me of that summer,” Harry said out of the blue, causing you to snap your eyes up to his. There was a little bit of concern you were feeling for what Harry was talking about.
Of course, he had to bring something up from the past, you felt like he had been doing that a lot. You did chuckle at how you knew the exact summer he was talking about although you had spent a few summers together. “Yeah, good times.” You agreed, thinking about ‘that summer’ brought up a lot of memories. Memories of that nights you and Harry would go out to some super fancy place, like this, before going to the beach or the carnival.
“When did we give up on us?” His sudden question made you internally gasp.
There was no point in avoiding the question. “I gave up a month after the band broke up and a month into your life destruction cycle.” You finally figure the words to tell him. “The day I was going to leave was the day I found out I was pregnant.” Now it was like you couldn’t stop talking and by Harry’s mouth dropping open you felt annoyed letting it slip.
“Why didn’t you say then?” Curiosity got the best of him and before he knew it was asking more questions.
This wasn’t a conversation you wanted to be having. “I tried, Haz, you were drunk or out so much of the time.” You didn’t want to be having this conversation so early but he seemed determined.
“I missed being a band.” He shrugged and you nodded, understanding his point of view. “I still miss them so much.” He admitted, running his hand through his hair roughly.
“I’m sorry the band fell apart.” At that moment it felt right to put your hand on his across the table.
Harry shook his head. “I’m sorry I just gave up caring about us.”
“I’m sorry I left when things got hard.”
“I’m sorry I ruined our relationship.”
“It’s all right now.” You smiled at him before taking your hand off his. “Want some more of this?” You asked, changing the conversation as you picked up the wine bottle and poured yourself some more.
After you talked and finished your food your plates got taken away and you continued to drink your favourite bottle of wine. By the time you’d finished the bottle, you were sure Harry and you were definitely tipsy.
Harry paid the bill, not even letting you see the total and you walked out into the street hand in hand.
It wasn’t long before Harry was cracking terrible jokes that made you giggle. “Oh my gosh, you know what we should do?” You asked him as an idea came to your head.
He chuckled, maybe because of how drunk he was but maybe because of how excited you sounded. “What should we do?”
“Go to in and out!” You state, thinking about how badly you were craving a burger.
He laughed at your childish nature. “Did you not just like that delicious, traditional French dish?”
“No, I loved it but I’d kill for a burger right now.” There was a little smile tugging on his lips as he looked at you fondly. This was definitely something you had missed.
“Get in the car then.” He commanded, unlocking the door with the key from his pocket.
You looked at him with a little bit of horror in your face. “You’re not going to open it?” You ask, joking with mock offence.
He sighed and walked around the car to your side before opening the door for you and then shutting it once you were sitting down. Then he moved to his side and got in the drivers' side, opening up the door and getting in before starting the car.
“Forgot how demanding you were.” He joked, gripping his hand on the steering wheel, the veins in his hand prominent.
Another look of horror was on your face. “You are so rude to the girl you’re trying to get with.” There was a slight smile on your face that you couldn’t hide.
“‘Trying to get with?’“ He repeated with a laugh, it would have made you embarrassed if you weren’t so drunk so you just blushed. “That is such a vulgar way to put it.”
You giggled at him, thankful he hadn’t commented on what you said. “Shut up.” You whine at him, the pair of you laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world.
“Okay, okay. You know there isn’t an in-and-out on the way to the beach?” He told you, looking at you with a teasing grin.
You shook your head, wanting to complain to him. “Don’t be mean. There’s one if you go west and then almost into bel air.” You instruct, trying to sound tough. In your head, all you could think about was the beautiful rings on his fingers as he tensed his fingers.
He looked at you with a mix of amazement and confusion. “How do you even know that? Is there not one closer to your place?”
“Yeah, there’s one south-east of our place but this one is right by Lily’s dance studio and she’s usually starving once she’s finished with dance.” You explain, trying not to seem too obsessed with in-and-out.
Harry nodded and continued driving until you reached the bright lights of your favourite burger joint. “What’s your go-to?” He asked, and it had only occurred to you then that you couldn’t think of a time you had been to in-and-out with Harry, ever.
“Number 2 with pink lemonade.” You informed him as he drove into the drive-through. Luckily there weren’t many cars there, odd for 9 at night.
Once he’d ordered for you, himself and then paid he drove around to the window to collect your food. As he handed it over to you it was like you were 7 years in the past, in some foreign city with the boys in the back seat laughing and waiting for their meals.
You were snapped out of it pretty quickly as you reached out to take your drink from his hand as he put his own in the cupholder.
“So, I didn’t realise mums in LA were allowed to feed their kids fast food.” He mentioned with a slight smile as he continued to drive the car in the direction of the beach. “I’m only joking.” He added.
All you could do was just look at him, roll your eyes and shake your head. “The absolute hypocrisy and judgment in every group of mums’ I have been in is absurd.” You told him as if he’d never seen mothers being shamed.
Once you’d looked over his eyebrows were furrowed. “People have shamed you?” He asked in total disbelief.
“Yeah, lots of other mothers. From getting an epidural to not raising Lily on an organic farm.” You laughed, trying to keep the mood light.
His eyebrows were still furrowed in confusion. “What? But you are such a great mum and Lily is happy and healthy, how could anyone criticise that?” You just shrugged, not having an answer for him. “I’m sorry, it’s not like being a single mum would have helped either.”
You shook your head. “It’s alright though because we’re happy.” That was the end of that conversation.
You arrived at the beach pretty soon after, Harry took the bag of food out of the car and you carried the drinks. The beach was relatively secluded, only a couple of groups scattered around.
“Oh, I have a blanket in the car, I’ll go get it.” He said once you got onto the sand.
Once he got back and laid the blanket down you smiled at him before sitting down. “Look at you being all maternal.”
He rolled his eyes at you with a smirk. You looked out onto the beach. The sun had already set and the beach was quite dark. Harry and you continued to talk for another hour, the conversation was filled with anything you could think to say while you ate your burgers.
Harry got up, offering you his hand to pull him up. “Should we go then?” You nodded, picking up the blanket as Harry picked up the paper bag of food wrappers.
You continued to talk to Harry the whole way back to your place, giving him instructions on where to turn.
Once you got there he turned off the engine in the driveway and both of you got out. Ellie, the babysitter, upon hearing a car had made it out the front door just as you and Harry made it there.
“Lily was great, she’s in bed asleep now.” She informed you, dutifully. She had always been such a good babysitter so you weren’t worried about asking too many questions.
You nodded to her as Harry stood awkwardly. “Thank you, I’ll see you some other time.” She walked off to her car and you waved her off.
Once you looked up at Harry again he was so much closer than before. His somehow minty breath was fanning your face.
He kept getting closer, leaning down so his face was closer to yours, almost touching. He moved his hand up to your cheekbone, stroking over it gently with his thumb. You forgot everything you were thinking as he leant down and ghosted his lips on yours.
“Can I kiss you?” He asked making you swoon. You nodded and moved your hand to his chest. He moved his lips the remaining inch, closing the gap between your lips.
The kiss was slower and sweeter than the last one you shared, more loving and passionate. It lasted longer as your lips intertwined and danced together before you pulled away for air.
“Thank you for tonight,” Harry said, his hands moving from your face to your waist as he held you. You didn’t want to belive the night was over. If the events of tonight had happened 5 years ago, you’d still probably be with Harry on the beach.
“Thank you. I’d love to do it again.” You said, trying not to sound too eager.
“I would love to as well.” He agreed, making you smile as you looked up into those big green eyes that made it impossible not to fall in love with him. “I’ll call you.” He told you, kissing you again before walking away.
You waved goodbye to him, trying to hide the grin on your face.
“Oh, Y/n,” Harry said, turning back around to you. “El told me about the wine.” He mentioned with a little grin.
You smiled and giggled, shaking your head at him before going inside as he left.
That evening you spent an hour sitting in bed, contemplating everything. It seemed too soon to determine what your relationship with Harry actually was and you didn’t want to pressure him into anything but you really wanted to know how he felt about you. You decided against it, calling him. After all, he said he’d call you and you didn’t want to seem desperate.
What you didn’t know was Harry felt exactly the same.

Chapter 6
Chapter 5
Zoo Visit
All you felt as you drove to the zoo was nerves, it was worse than your first date with Harry. Lily helped calm those nerves by her incessant talking about all of the animals at the zoo.
She was sitting in the backseat with her denim jeans, brown boots and ‘save the bees’ t-shirt and today she looked more like Harry than ever. She had only been to the zoo in LA a handful of times but she seemed to remember it quite well.
As soon as you parked the car Lily was taking off her seatbelt herself and getting out of the car.
“Lily, hold on.” You told her as you grabbed your handbag and walked after the quick kids, she was really fast. You stood back and watched as she got towards Harry and flung herself around his legs. To your surprise, he picked her up and hugged her.
By the time you walked over, she was talking Harry’s ear off, back on the ground. “Hey.” He said casually, you could see how visibly nervous he was and, oddly, it made you feel better.
“Morning, sorry about this one. She’s very excited.” You told him as you look at the young child.
He just shook his head. “It’s alright.” For a few minutes, you and Harry stood there nervously while Lily talked. You were more than thankful she was here, not only was she a conversation piece but she made the conversations.
After a while, you went into the zoo and started walking around to look at the animals, in Lily’s particular order. You could tell she was loving being the centre of not only your but Harry’s attention. By the time you had walked around half of the zoo, it was time for lunch
Then by the time you were almost finished Lily was asleep in Harry’s arms and yours were filled with a bag from the gift shop that Harry had brought for her. You didn’t mind, it meant you got to dress her up like a little doll.
But, the more time you spent with Harry, joking or bantering the more comfortable you felt and it reminded you of the old days.
“The flamingos are so beautiful.” You muttered as you stood next to their pond. As you looked up you noticed how close you were to Harry and how few people there were around.
He nodded. “I know, it’s something about their colour.” He agreed and you smiled, not knowing what else to say to him. You studied Lily’s sleeping face, trying not to look up into Harry’s eyes again. He was just unfairly easy to fall in love with.
Before you noticed Harry’s fingers were on your chin, forcing you to look up at him. The world felt perfect as his lips ghosted over yours, testing the waters. Silence was all you could hear. Then, before you knew it, he kissed you. The kiss was soft and tender but there was a hidden passion that ignited a fire in you. That same fire that burnt whenever you were near him. It was like the world made sense and all you could feel was Harry.
All too soon he pulled away and the blood pumping through your body slowed.
“Wow...” You muttered. Harry nodded along with you, he looked like he was still in a trance. Then the questions started popping up in your head. What did the kiss mean? How did Harry feel about you? and why does everything feel so magical with him? It felt like your head was going to explode.
Lily started to stir in his arms and you prayed that she hadn’t seen any of that. “Can we get some ice cream?” She asked, her voice still groggy. She had been asking for ice cream before she fell asleep.
“Yeah.” Harry agreed. He didn’t even have to look at her before he’d give her anything she wanted.
You cocked your eyebrow at him. “Feeding my kid ice cream, Styles?” You teased. With Harry, you never knew whether you would get Cocky Harry or Sweet Harry so teasing him was an easy way to figure it out.
“You can get some too.” He said, a smirk evident on his features. He glanced down at your hand and you noticed he was thinking about taking it but in the end, he decided not to and you both walked. After all, what did the kiss mean?
Ice cream got ordered and you ate before leaving. Harry was placing Lily in her car seat before you knew it. It disappointed you that your time with him was over.
You walked around to the driver's seat and Harry followed you. “Y/n, wait,” Harry said before you could get in.
“What is it?” You said a light smile on your face. It was weird to think about how the start of today was so filled with nerves that were long gone now.
He picked up your hands and held them in front of you. “So...”
“So.” You reciprocated. He still looked as good looking as this morning.
“I thought about how I was going to say this and now I just don’t know.” He told you and it made you smile at him. Although you were a little nervous about what he was going to say. “I was wondering if you wanted to go out sometime. On a date. As long as you’re not dating anyone already.” He started to ramble with short sentences.
It was cute but you had to stop him. “Yeah, I would like that. And I’m not seeing anyone.”
“Thank god.” Was all he said before his lips were on yours, once again. And once again, magic.
You pulled away after a few seconds of pure bliss. “I’ll see you later.” You told him before you got in the car.
On the way home everything felt perfect. The sun had never shined so bright. Every piece of the puzzle has fit together. But then. that was the way Harry had always made you feel

Unsent
Hey everyone, so this is a mini-series based off theunsentproject.com where people submit anonymous messages to someone.
Tumblr media
October 27th 2014.
Movie sets weren't something out of the ordinary for you but this one was particularly exciting. They were the biggest band on the planet and you would be lying if you said you didn't have half their discography memorised.
As soon as your agent offered you the chance to be in the music video you jumped at the opportunity, even though your latest movie was paying more.
The sun was setting quickly so you made your way across town to meet the team. Your part in the music video was playing Harry's girlfriend before they replaced you with a camera, sort of a filler type position.
"Y/n Y/l/n, nice to meet you." Ben Winston said as he shook your hand and welcomed you to the set.
You had been there before, during the day. The first time in winter when it was raining and gloomy and the Natural history museum was one of the last things on your 'list of things to do in London list' before you had to leave. The second time was a few years later, in summer, when your niece and best friend had come to see you so you took them to a children's exhibition there. That day the sun was oddly bright for London and warm.
Tonight, it was getting colder. 13 degrees wasn't as low as London could get but it was coat weather. It was dark in the sky but the set looked lovely and lively.
You smiled at the staff as Ben showed you around and instructed you on what you would be doing.
Then you were straight to get some ice skates. The good thing about doing a music video where the set was real meant all the props you would need were already there.
The walls were lined with blue coloured skates and you walked along the rows to until you found your size.
"Hey." A low voice made you jump and turn around, only for you to see Harry Styles standing across the room. "Just wann'ed to come and introduce m'self." He told you as he walked over, holding out his hand to shake yours.
He was even better looking up close. Almost like a Greek god and you wondered how he looked so tan in autumn. From his jawline to those eyes you'd seen people fangirling over to the perfect chestnut hair in curls, it wasn't hard to see why so many people were in love with him.
You smiled at him and took his hand in yours. "'s nice to meet you." His hand was rougher than you imagined but it didn't stop electricity surging through you. The cold rings he wore contrasted his warm hands but they were even more intricate up close.
"The pleasure's all mine." There was the handsome smile and charming voice you’d heard about. You were falling way to fast and you'd do anything to see that smile and hear that voice again.
You didn't realise how long you had been staring at him and holding his hand so you let it go. "I've just got to put these on and then I'll be out." You told him, holding up the blue skates. Not that you had any idea why you were telling him but you felt you needed to.
Under his gaze, you sat down on the bench and went about taking your shoes off. "You were in Now You See Me, right?" He asked, sitting down next to you after grabbing a pair of skates that would fit his feet.
It did make you feel important that he actually knew who you were and he didn't just learn from Ben a few minutes ago. "Last year, yeah." You nodded as you untied your laces and slipped your right shoe off your foot.
"Great movie." His comment came. Although he had barely said a few sentences to you, none of it felt forced.
"It was great fun too."
"So you know the hulk?" He sounded impressed but also like he didn't want to impose by asking too much about your life.
You couldn't help but laugh a little before getting self-conscious about how loud it was. "Yeah, guess I do." Meeting him was probably one of the best moments of your life. "He's a great guy, Mark, very intelligent." You continued when Harry didn't reply.
"'ve heard good things." He agreed, you looked over to see him putting his feet into skates. "What about now?" He asked causing you to look over at him. "What are you working on?" He clarified, causing you to blush at not knowing what he was asking.
"Uh, something with CW, Jane the Virgin. It just premiered.” You answered, not wanting to sound half as excited as you were for the project.
He looked off into the distance for a second. “Yeah, yeah I remember that. Honestly, I was only half watching but it was good.” Usually people praised your media but it was nice when it came from a celebrity you admired. “I might even become a fan.” He mentioned, nudging your arm and laughing along with you.
Now that you were finished with your skates you just sat there. “If we’re being honest, I’m a pretty big fan as well. I’m basically only here for my own fun.” You admitted, earning a smile from him.
“Really? Well, I’m honoured.” He sounded intrigued. He was exactly where you wanted him but you also knew you were exactly where he wanted you.
He was just about to say something else when you were interrupted. “Are you two ready to go? We’re having the test shoots first then swapping y/n out for the camera.” Ben said once he opened the door and was standing in front of you.
Both you and Harry nodded and Ben left the room.
You attempted to stand up and stumbled a little. “We should have put these on outside.” You giggled as he attempted to stand up.
He was much better at walking in them than you and you were almost at the door before you started to topple. Possibly instinctively but maybe purposely he reached out to grab your waist. It was only now you were realising how big his hands were.
“Thanks.” You say lightly, trying your hardest not to blush but you could feel it creeping into your cheeks.
He let his hand fall off your waist and smiled at you. “Don’t mention it.” There he pause. “Y/n.”
And your name had never sounded as good as it did when it fell from his lips.

Chapter 5
Chapter 4
The aftermath
The call you got on your way home from Lou scared you possibly more than how you were feeling about the rest of day. It seemed to be a replica of the call she gave you 8 years ago. The day you found out Harry liked you.
Flashback
“Lou, hey.” You answered the ringing phone, speaking in a low voice to insure your parents wouldn’t hear you. By now they would be asleep and hearing you talk on the phone would annoy them and it would get your phone taken off you.
You moved from lying on your bed to sitting on the office chair and swivelling around your room.
“Y/n, oh my gosh. You’ll never guess what I was just told!” Lou’s excited voice can from the other end. You tried not to laugh at how excited she was about, what you only assumed, was trivial gossip It was probably about Eleanor and Louis’ relationship because that was the hottest gossip.
“Oh no, what happened?” You asked in a mock panic that made her laugh.
“It’s actually about you and Harry.” She replied and your heart dropped at his name.
Harry. You were never really sure what was going on between the two of you. It was a jumble of feelings and emotions. Thinkings about him gave you mixed feelings. The whole world thought he was a first and that was definitely true. But you thought there was something special going on between you. Although he flirted with every girl you knew. Except you could never deny yourself that feeling of wanting to be in a relationship with him, it just wouldn’t be a good idea.
You finally brought yourself to ask the question you wanted her to answer. “So, what is it?” Your voice was getting higher in pitch and your breath hitched.
“He likes you.” And just like that, you felt your whole world changing. Your heart dropped and you didn’t feel like you could breathe. What if there was a possibility of a relationship between you and Harry? Knowing Harry liked you filled you with confidence, it made you feel like nothing bad could happen and it made you feel safe.
That night was the start of the happiest days of your life.
Present
Lily woke up as soon as you pulled into the driveway of your place and she was immediately asking questions about where Harry was and how she got home. All you told her was it was late, you’d driven home and Harry was gone.
Once you had dinner and put Lily to bed your mind was on calling Harry. He had always seemed to have an irresistible power over you, like a magnet pulling you in.
But you didn’t know what you’d talk to him about or how awkward it would be and you needed to know that before you took the gamble. There was always the risk he was going to bring up something deeply personal.
After you watch TV for an hour thinking about calling him your phone started ringing. Maybe it was the law of attraction if that works. You picked it up without even looking at it. “I definitely didn’t think you’d pick up, love.” An all too familiar voice said, making you jump like you didn’t expect someone to be talking when you answered it.
“Harry?” You asked, confused about who had actually called you.
He guessed how you were feeling, that was definitely something about him you hated. “How’s Lily?” He asked, keeping the conversation going.
“She’s good, upset she didn’t get to say goodbye to you.” And you really wished you hadn't said that.
Harry chuckled at what you said while you hid your face in embarrassment. “Thank you again, for letting me meet her.” He said again.
“You deserved it, I’m sorry you didn’t know for so long.”  You told him, meaning every word.
That night reminded you a lot of what happened 8 years ago in the fact you talked to Harry all night. This time though it was about Lily. No matter how much you told him, he asked for more details and by the time your phone called ended at 2 in the morning you were almost sure he knew everything there was to know. That night you fell asleep before you could even get into the covers.
~
“Mumma, wake up!!” Lily’s loud voice came from right next to you. As soon as you opened your eyes you saw her right in your face, grinning about something.
“Morning, Lil.” You said as you reached up to pat her head and kiss her forehead. The exhaustion you felt was unreal and unusual. You had never been the type of person who got tired, the last time you were this fatigued was the month after Lily was born.
Very tiredly you got up and took Lily down the stairs to make her some breakfast. As usual, she was spouting off a hundred different things but something she said caught your attention. “When can we see Harry again?”
“Do you want to see him again?” You asked, kind of surprised. Lily had met a lot of your friends, over the years, and often she forgot them hours after. It had even happened when she first met Niall. How has she bonded so strongly to Harry already?
“Yeah! Yeah! He gave me the Princess Belle’s rose and he knows my favourite food is cheese pizza.” She exclaimed while bouncing up and down on the floor. If only you could get some of her energy. “When can we see him?”
There wasn’t a lot of chance she was going to give this up now. “We’ll see.” You answered. It seemed to quieten her down but you knew that despite her young age, she was able to remember promises if she was going to benefit from them.
~
By the afternoon you napped on the couch as your phone rang. The ringer sounded but it played too well into a dream you were having and it didn’t manage to wake you up.
Lily was still wide awake and sat next to you so she jumped at the chance to answer the phone. To her, talking on the phone was a sacred concept, like sitting in the front seat. As far as she understood it, phone calls meant importance so she answered the call like you would have.
“Hello, it’s Lily.” She answered speaking into the phone like she had seen you do. “But I’m not allowed to talk to strangers so please don’t be a stranger.” She added for safety precautions.
“Hi, princess, it’s Harry.” His deep voice came through the phone and Lily was quick to giggle at how he called her princess.
“Hello, Harry. Mummy is sleeping right now.” She informed him in a serious tone and he had to avoid laughing.
“Oh. What have you been up to today?” He decided to ask, not knowing what to say to her.
She got ready to tell him the story. “I had a sandwich with ham and cheese for lunch with an apple and for breakfast I had cereal. I played with my barbie dolls and Belle doll. I only have one boy doll though so there’s only one family.” Her words forced Harry to think about what she thought of her own family. Was it enough for her? Did she feel like her father didn’t love her?
“Well, I was going to ask your mum if you wanted to come to the zoo tomorrow.” Harry disclosed his plan in an attempt to see if he would get rejected or not.
“Yes!” Lily paused and Harry took a second celebrate. If Lily wanted to you would as well, right? “Will you be there?” She asked in concern.
“Yeah?” He offered and she started cheering. All the commotion woke you up.
You looked over at her, concerned and a bit dazed. “Lily, who’s on the phone?” She didn’t tell you, she just skipped off to place. “Hi?” You asked, awkwardly.
“It’s Harry. Lily said you were asleep.” He told you and you mentally reminded yourself to tell her not to answer the phone because this conversation was already awkward.
“Well, she just walked off. What’s up?” You asked hoping it wasn’t anything bad. You looked at the phone call to see it had only been going for 2 minutes.
He choked up. “I wanted to know if you two wanted to go to the zoo. Louis said Freddie loves it and I wasn’t sure if Lily would but I wanted to see her again. And you.” Harry continued to talk and you thought about his offer.
You’d have numerous chances to be an idiot and ruin everything but again it sounded really good. On the other end of the time, Harry was desperately hoping that you were going to say yes.
“Lily said she wanted to.” He offered, raising his voice at the end of the sentence like it was a question.
“Okay.” You finally agree, for Lily right?

Chapter 4
Chapter 3
Lunch
After you spent a few hours going around Disneyland, feeding Lily shaved ice and a few snacks and buying her things you know she didn't need you were off to lunch with Harry. Something you didn't think would happen.
Eleanor still looked confused about how everything went down but with the promise of telling her later on she agreed to shut up about the matter. Both Niall and Lou were quite confused but you hoped they understood what you were doing and didn’t think you were making a mistake.
“Have fun, girl. We’re seeing a movie in the Main Street Cinema or something at half 1 so if you’re not busy then you three should come.” Eleanor tells you before you walk off after Harry with Lily’s hand in yours.
Harry explained his plan as soon as you were standing near. “So I was thinking we could go to the Red Rose Taverne. I heard a rumour that someone likes pizza and apparently they have a really good cheese pizza.” For a second you thought about asking how he knew Lily’s favourite food but you decided against it, this whole thing was for Lily, not your own personal enquiries.
“I love pizza, Harry!” She exclaimed with her childhood innocence that led her to be shocked.
You giggled a little at her and, in return, Harry smiled over at you. His smile made you nervous. Nervous about what he was feeling for you. “What’s a rumour?” Lily asked her childhood sense of curiosity as well.
You were about to answer when Harry looked over at you, almost asking to interject. It was a nod from you that let him know it was okay to do so. “A story that someone tells about you that’s not always true.” He told her and she nodded, accepting his answer.
“Why do you sound so different to me? You sound like uncle Louis.” Lily suddenly asked making you shake your head.
You begin to tell her that she can’t just ask strangers personal questions.“Lils, you can’t-”
But Harry interjected. “I’m from England.”
Lily just kept asking questions. “Why are you in Cali then?” You noticed she didn’t believe him. It’s not like she knew where England was but she was pretending she did. Lily had always called Los Angeles ‘Cali’ because she couldn’t pronounce it.
“I sing songs and record them and then people buy them. And that happens here, mostly.” Harry briefly explained his job for her. “You’re very inquisitive.” He commented and you watched her face change as she tried to figure out what that word meant.
For the rest of your walk, you all stay quiet before getting to the restaurant.
“Mummy, look!” Lily screams as she walks into the restaurant, to be greeted by all of the Disney princesses.
You looked back at Harry with a smile. “Oh my god, Harry.” He only smiled and shrugged his shoulders. “You really didn’t need to do this.” You tell him as you stood in the doorway and watched Lily talk to the princesses.
You looked around the Taverne to admire how archaic it looked, like an old German bar. It was easy to imagine this place up in the hillside by Arendelle. It was typical Disney and straight out of one of their stories.
Suddenly Harry’s voice was in your ear, snapping you out of your awe for the restaurant. “I wanted to, Louis had everything rented out and I just wanted to do something ot make her smile.” You had to shake the idea that this could be your normal life out of your head.
“Thank you, I know she appreciates it and she probably should be saying ‘thank you’ to you right now.” You thought as you looked over at Lily, as happy as ever.
“Don’t worry about it.”
While you sit at the table in the centre of the room and eat Harry keeps the conversation with Lily going. He’d asked her about her favourite things to do, what else she liked to eat and her friends, never mentioning your family or Lily’s personal life.
You knew your place was just to be there and not do to much talking. “So, what was your favourite ride?” Harry’s next question was asked.
“Tea cups! Tea cups!” Lily chanted excitedly before having another piece of her cheese pizza.
Harry looked over at you for a second. “What about you?” There was that slight smile at you that managed to make you unsteady.
“Um, it’s a small world.” You answered him with your own smile.
“We should go do them both again, we’ve got time if you’re both finished.” Harry offered and you agreed with him before giving Lily a wipe to clean her fingers. Lily wiped her fingers before putting the wipe in the bin.
By the time you were outside again Lily was racing ahead, singing Belle’s song from Beauty and the Beast. Her hands were clutching a rose that Harry had got her from Belle. Again her childhood sense of belief led her to believe that it was the rose from the movie and she was more than happy to be holding it in her hands.
You slipped your sunglasses onto your eyes as you walked dangerously close to Harry. His hand was close enough to hold, if you wanted to.
There was something in you that knew he wanted to ask you a question. “What’s happened in your life since, you know? How have you been?” There it came.
And there was something else that made you want to tell him. “I had Lily, 8 months after. I’m an editor at the Los Angeles time and we live in a house on the beach.” You heard the way your voice raised at the end of your sentence, as if you were asking a question. He always made you feel like that, like you should be asking him if what you were telling him was enough. It took you a few steps to work up to what you wanted to ask. “What about you?” Finally, a stroke of courage.
“I moved. From where we lived. Uh, still singing, writing and all that. The band split, but you probably knew that.” He told you and that was the end of your conversation.
Your mind did wander, into a place where you were thinking about if the house caused him too much pain. If he had to move because of all or memories there. Or maybe he just needed somewhere else to bring his celebrity hook ups who knew about what had gone down at your old place.
To snap you out of your thoughts Lily came and ran around your legs as she sung ‘Be our guest.’ Harry smiled at her and chuckled. “She’s got a good voice.”
“Hmm, wonder where that came from.” You joked, making him chuckle again. This was the banter you had missed, the smile you got when he laughed. “She looks like you.” You noted.
“She’s pretty like you though and she definitely acts like you. Thank god.” Harry’s compliments made you blush but then again, anything he could say would have you blush.
“We;re here.” You mentioned trying to forget about how awkward you just were as you take Lily’s hand and led her into a teacup. You sat next to her as Harry went to stand by the side and watch.
Lily noticed and wasn’t about to let him do that. “Harry, sit with me and mummy.” She told him. He looked at you for approval to which you nod. There was his slight smile again.
After the tea cups, some soft pretzels, a look around the gift shop and finally ‘it’s a small world’ you pulled out your phone to check the time. “Oh no.” You hadn’t meant to say it aloud but it grabbed Harry and Lily’s attention.
“What’s wrong?” Harry asked, quickly coming to your side. He was holding a bag of things Lily decided she needed and he decided to buy her.
“It’s El, we completely forgot about the whole movie plan and they were waiting for us.” You told him and he nodded.
It was a mutual, unspoken decision that lead you to walk down there and join everyone else.
Lily lagged behind you as you walked. “I’m tiredddd.” She complained, dragging out each word. You went to pick her up but Harry was already putting her head over his shoulder and holding her body against his chest. It only took 3 steps for her to fall asleep.
“She didn’t nap this afternoon, obviously, and with all the running around and excitement she’ll be out the whole way home and until dinner if she wakes up to watch this movie.” You thought out loud, spouting out mum facts as Harry listened intently.
He looked in awe of you. “How do you even know something like that?”
“Practice, I guess and being a mum. She’s pretty consistent.” You replied.
“It’s a good look on you.” All you could do was smile at that.
You talked for a while before you got to the movie and tried to sneak in the back. Eleanor, Louis, Niall and Lou all turned your heads and noticed the two of you walking in. The room was dimly lit and Harry carried Lily to a seat at the front while El and Lou gave you the eyebrows. You noticed Louis and Niall winking at Harry as he walked back to you.
You sat together at the back of the room and watched the movie until Haryr started leaning over and whispering dumb jokes in your ear. You laughed out loud before you clamped your hands over your mouth and blushed at how embarrassing it was ot be laughing out loud when the movie wasn’t at a funny scene. While it was all Harry’s fault, he sat there and smirked at your blushed cheeks.
After spending half of the movie laughing, or trying not to laugh everyone was filling out of the small cinema. Niall and Louis stopped and chucked popcorn at you for making so much noise and Harry for being the one making you laugh.
Lily came over and, to your surprise, sat on Harry’s knee before falling asleep quickly. You gave him an ‘are-you-okay’ look and he just nodded.
“Do you mind carrying her to my car?” You asked him, it didn’t even feel like an odd request. He nodded and lifted her up in the same position she was before.
Once you got out you went to find El, who unfortunately was standing with Louis, Lou and Niall while everyone else got food. “Hey guys, we’re going to go. Thank you for today.” You tell them as you hug them.
“Together?” Lou is quick to ask and you realised the mistake in your words.
“Harry’s carrying her to the car and then me and Lily are going home.” You informed the, feeling like you were speaking to your parents. Eleanor rolled her eyes, she knew you would fall for Harry any day you saw him.
“Okay, be safe and use protection.” Louis said as you walked away rolling your eyes at him as you walked off.
“If we had been Lily wouldn’t be here.” Harry joked, causing everyone else to laugh. You rolled your eyes at him as well as blushing bright red. Talking about your sex life with Harry was less than comfortable.
“Everyone was being super annoying in the cinema.” You complained to Harry as he walked to your car with you.
He smiled back at you. “What are friends for if they don’t tease you?” He asked. Maybe it was just the fact he could always find the positives but it was something you admired. “They do that all the time to me.” He told you and you raised an eyebrow. “Oh, I didn’t mean with other girls, they just tease me when I mention people. Not that I mention girls a lot.” He rambled, there was a blush dusting his usually tan cheeks. It did amuse you to laugh at his panic.
“Thank you for lunch, Lily really appreciated it. I should wake her up the say thanks herself.” You told him once Lily was buckled into her car seat and asleep.
Harry shook his head quickly. “Don’t, she’s had a long day.”
You nodded in agreement and stood with him awkwardly, not knowing what to say.
“Can I-”
“Thank for-”
You both start. “You go first.” Harry quickly replied, trying to protect his cheeks from getting blushed.
“Thanks of not freaking out about Lily. I can’t stop thinking about all the worse ways today could have gone.” You told him, you started toying with your nails and you kept your eyes on the ground with you didn’t hear a reply.
“Getting mad would have meant I missed out on spending today with her and that would have been a bad outcome for all of us. Also, I do understand why you didn’t tell me. I wasn’t in a good place.” He admitted. “Can I have your number? I’d get it off Louis but then I’d text you and it would look like I was so desperate for it that I needed to ask Louis for it but I’m not desperate for it. I just want it. And Louis would give me shit for asking for it.” He started rambling again which was always going to be the cutest thing he does.
“I’ll put it in your phone.” You told him as he took out his massive phone and put it in your much smaller hands.
“Also, can I see Lily again?” He asked, hopefully.
“Of course. And I promise we can tell her one day.
He looked at you like he wanted to ask another question. “Can I tell my mum?” None of his family knew but they probably deserved to.
“Yeah, of course.” It didn’t take you long to think through.
“Thank you.” He told you as you handed his phone back. You stood with him for a while, it felt like minutes but it would have only been 10 seconds. Now you had to decide how to farewell him. A hand shake seemed too polite and formal, a wave was too friendly and a kiss on the cheek seemed too romantic, plus there were ways that could go wrong.
Harry made up his mind and opened his arms for a hug. You complied with his actions and practically fell into his arms, immediately feeling relaced just by being this close to him. It was like you were finally able to breath again.
All too soon the hug was over and Harry walked away with a final ‘goodbye’
