Okay, listen, in lieu of the holidays I'm bringing this back up in regards to movies that are placed in Alaska:

First, stop using made-up towns and use the actual towns and cities. There's a lot of history in the names of Alaska and in Alaska itself.

Winter season, typically in central AK, starts Oct. through late April (I've seen snow in May, trust). Snowfall is insane. However, the farther North you go, the colder it is, and the more permafrost and snow you're gonna get.

Also, the more North you go, the more remote it's gonna get and the more dangerous the roads are in the middle of winter.

Most places you have to travel by puddle jumpers, boat, or car, but there are places you can only get to with snow machines (snow mobiles for the lower 48) or all-terraine vehicles in the summer. In the far North, near the pipeline, you have to ARMOR your car- I'm not joking.

Second, the flora of Alaska is beautiful. I bring this up because of the movie I'm currently watching (Jingle Bell Bride)- the premise of the movie, besides the typical cheesy romance and holiday cheer, is surrounding "Jingle Bell Flowers" 😮‍💨😮‍💨 They are basically Western Columbine flowers. Gorgeous flowers, but they don't grow in the middle of winter and having a greenhouse in the middle of winter (like in the movie) doesn't work unless you want to spend thousands of dollars on heaters and even then power outages due to weathers are very common, especially in more remote areas.

I'm all for story-telling and having movies set in Alaska, but like don't just make up shit for the sake of making up shit. It's a gorgeous state that deserves more than that, and the people and places deserve more than that. Stop white-washing everything about AK- though yes, it's predominantly white in Central AK.

Also, in winter it gets dark around 4pm or earlier and cold as fuck. Like -60°F cold in some areas.

Anyway, I'm gonna finish this cheesy ass movie.

I split my rent three ways, but its still 360$ every month. Then theres an electricity bill thats anywhere from 70$ to 250$, then theres Internet which is 60$ + 10$ for every gig we go over, and then there's car payments, which for me is 283$ a month, and then there's my student loans, which I pay altogether 340$ a month, and finally theres miscellaneous items like food/toiletries that ive budgeted out to 150$. My overall total for a month is almost 1500$

600$ is not enough. Period.

I made this in late August this year for Seriefrämjandets yearly contest. The topic was comics for young people… and guess what, I actually won! 

En serie med otroligt bra känsla för karaktärer, med god känsla för hur utseende och subkulturer betyder i ungdomens sökande efter en identitet. En serie som man ser på första anblick har hjärta, och som subtilt pekar på ämnen som andra skulle göra till huvudpoängen i historien. Som en liten bonus får vi en tjej i huvudrollen som känns levande och som man känner starkt inför.

I’m incredibly surprised, happy and grateful to have won. Since it got so much praise, I figured I should post it here. Thanks to Keetande for helping me with the tricky translation!
