yo the former anon was genuinely trying to warn you, as much as having boobs can kinda suck (esp with dysphoria), mastectomy does come with a high risk of leaving scar tissue that can limit your range of mobility and cause lifelong chronic pain, as well as a fairly high risk of nerve damage which can also cause lifelong chronic pain or other physical distress. not trying to talk you out of anything but like most things in medicine there are pros and cons to mastectomies n u deserve to know them

Somehow this is the message that pisses me off the most.

I am fully aware of the risks and complications of top surgery. I do not need a random person’s input or warnings. I am a goddamn adult and have kept myself very well educated on top surgery and medical gender confirmation options for nearly 10 years now. I have met with a professional surgeon and have scheduled my date.

Why do you all feel so fucking comfortable assuming trans people are uneducated about their own bodies?

seeing people my age talk about how scared they are of memory loss, which they only associate with old age, is so surreal to see as a 24 year old who has actively experienced memory loss for a long time now

there are causes for memory loss besides dementia and alzheimer’s, i hope y’all know that. dissociative disorders, trauma, brain injuries, thyroid problems, even just stress and lack of sleep can fuck up your ability to store, process, and access memory. and that’s just a few of the many causes i can think of off the top of my head right now.

please stop treating disabled people like some scary “other” that you might become only in the distant, decades-away future. we are your age, too. you may become one of us sooner than you know. stop acting like memory loss marks the end of a life, when so many of us have so much living left to do!
