it comes from high school shows starring pretty adults and featuring romance with hot people, aimed at pre-teens just discovering their want to be loved like that. It's hyped up by magazines and influencers with their sponsors profiting off of low self-esteem and new acne. It's so deeply ingrained in our little minds and then we get their, and it LOOKS like a movie. Same stupid halls and stupid bus. Even the drama is recreated by little primadonnas. The only difference is that you don't look like the girl on TV, and the girl on TV never showed anxiety or depression. The boy on TV sure as hell never displayed signs of depression or ADHD like you do. Non-binary folk just feel broken the whole time because they weren't on the show to begin with. Everything looks so good, except for you. And everyone is thinking that of their own self. It's hormones and hell is what it is.
high school is soo funny in hindsight. the entire time you're there thinking it's the most important period of your life and then the second you're out you're like well that was fucking stupid

If you wanna talk about excessive energy drink (or general caffeine) consumption in young people - which is definitely an issue that needs discussion don’t get me wrong - you absolutely CANNOT leave out the fact that teenagers and young adults are given schedules so demanding that they feel they have to turn to large amounts of stimulant drugs to function
If you were to ask these people why they drank large amounts of energy drinks that most of them would give early classes and long days without enough sleep as a reason and yet pretty much none of the articles about it ever mention this
