It Follows (2014)
10/10
"It could look like someone you know or it could be a stranger in a crowd. Whatever helps it get close to you."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I first watched this movie when it was still in theaters. Back then, I was only like eleven years old. I went with my mom to the theaters to watch it because we both thought it looked good. We watched it and I was disappointed. I didn't like it all that much. However, I recently rewatched it the other day, and my goodness do I love it now. It's actually a really good movie and I finally understand why people liked it so much. The acting was good, the storyline was amazing, and the execution was great. My favorite part about it though is that it reminds me of an older film with the music while still looking like a modern film.
For those of you who don't know, this movie goes through the experiences of a teenage girl named Jay. She goes on a date with this guy early in the film and sleeps with him. After they sleep together, the guy chloroforms her and ties her up. When she wakes up, she finds out that she was given a curse that passes between people once they have sex. She tries to survive it with the help of her closrle friends who always stay by her side. The curse takes form of some person, whether a friend or an acquaintance. This thing will follow the person who was most recently exposed to curse and will follow them until it kills them. Once that happens, it moves on down the line of people who also have the curse.

It: Chapter 1 (2017)
10/10
"You punched me, made me walk through shitty water, dragged me through a crackhouse, crackpots, and nowI'm gonna have to kill this fucking clown."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I say this quite often, but this is another one of my favorite movies. Before they even announced that they would be making this movie, I loved the story of the Loser's Club. When I was really young, I watched the original movie with Tim Curry. Since then, I have always loved Pennywise and the kids of the Loser's Club. I have always held them near and dear to my heart. When this movie came out, it rekindled my love of the story. As much as I hate saying it, but I love this movie more than the original. The cost is absolutely perfect. Bill Skarsgård is the perfect person to play Pennywise. Plus, I absolutely fell in love with Finn Wolfhard's portrayal of Richie and Jack Dylan Grazer's portrayal of Eddie. They are just perfect!

Black Box (2020)

"I run my mind, it does not run me."

Okay, so this wasn't my favorite movie. I watched it when I didn't have anything better to watch. The overall storyline was good and the acting wasn't bad, but it was pretty slow for the first half. Plus, I wouldn't really consider it a horror movie even though it is categorized as one. To me, it was more of a thriller. Basically this movie is about a man who gets in a bad car accident in which his wife is killed and he gets amnesia. He has a daughter with which he is still "taking care of." I put that in quotes cause she pretty much tells him what to do the whole time. As he continues on without remembering anything from him life before rhe car accident, he decides to start this experimental treatment to retrieve his memories. In doing so, he slowly begins to remember a whole lot of sinister memories.

"He was my father. I loved him even if he had gone crazy."

Okay, this movie was actually really good. I was a little skeptical during the first 20 minutes or so, but it got pretty good. The whole twist where we find out that it isn't really Fenton confessing all of this stuff to the sheriff, but it's actually Adam was amazing. I honestly didn't expect that. Overall, this movie was pretty good.
Oh, and I would like to thank @thethirstyspittoon for recommending this movie! I really liked it and probably wouldn't have watched it otherwise.

"Years go by and bitterness will grow in proportion to your ass."

This movie actually wasn't too bad. The plot was really good and unlike what I've seen before. The way the caller roped in Elliot was well done. It was actually quite realistic, at least it was in my opinion. Start out with simple tasks for a good amount of money that he really needed, then gradually increase the difficulty of the tasks and dramatically increase the profit. I actually questioned whether or not I would do the same if I was in his place. On one hand, I wanna say no. But on the other, I understand where he is coming from. Money is not something that everyone comes by easily and a lot of people would go to extreme lengths for a good sum of it.

Escape Room (2019)
10/10
“They're watching us! They know every move that we're making!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now this is one of my all time favorites. Before I even started the movie, I expected it to be good and I was not disappointed. This movie blew me away. The fact the the people who made the rooms specifically tailored it to each individual made it so much better. This is one of the few movies that I can rewatch.

"We're all gonna get it, we're all gonna get sick."

Okay, so this movie gave me some mixed feelings. The gore was really good and I felt as if the makeup for it all was amazing. However, there was a decent amount of the plot that got me a little confused. Like what was the significance about the deputies stitches under her eye? The script didn't seem very well-written either. I'm sure there are people out there who have seen this movie and thought it was great, but I can confidently say that I am not one of them.

"This is it Jennifer! Your big break in TV. Welcome to Prime Time, Bitch!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This movie was actually quite good. The best part, to me, was the fact that Nancy was back. I also loved that it took place in a psychiatric hospital even if its portrayal wasn't true to life. If anyone has watched the first movie, I would definitely recommend watching this one as well.

"He can't fight me. I'm him."

I watched this movie maybe a day after I watched the first. I was a little disappointed that Nancy wasn't in it, but I still liked the movie. I thought it was quite interesting how instead of just using dreams to kill people, he was using Jesse as a vessel to the physical world. I would never go so far as to say that it's my favorite movie in the series, but it definitely isn't my least favorite either.

"I don't know what you are, but you leave my wife alone, damn you!
She's already gone... and now you're all gonna die."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This movie is another one of my favorites. The storyline and execution was really good. I love the fact that it has characters based off of real people. Though it is only loosely based off of true events, it still makes it slightly more creepy to know that something similar has happened in real life. Plus, it's a paranormal movie, which tends to be one of my favorite type of horror movie.

I watched this movie when I was quite young. At the time, I was a little scared of the film. All in all, though, I absolutely loved this film. I can never forget the scene when she is sitting in front of the TV and she can hear the ghosts trying to speak with her through it. This was an absolutely fantastic film.

"It's all true. The bogeyman is real and you found him."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm going to be completely honest, I didn't really care too much for this movie. I thought that most of the storyline was good, but I felt that it was overdone. There was just too much of everything and it was quite messy. In no means am I saying that I hated this movie, but I don't think I would ever sit down and watch it again.

I'm well aware that this movie may not be viewed as a horror movie in the eyes of most people, but it was scary to me when I was a young kid. I was probably 4 when I first saw this movie and I had never seen anything that could be considered "scary" until then. It freaked me out, but most of all, it intrigued me. I remember that I just kept watching it even though I was scared. Now, it is one of my favorites. Gizmo is just so darn cute and I honestly find the movie to be really nostalgic. It was actually the movie that got me into the horror genre!

This is honestly one of my all time favorite horror movies. Yes, it may be cheesy, but Freddy Krueger is the kind of antagonist that I absolutely can't help but love. I adore everything about this movie!
